Added one more 2 unit play to the
list. Alot of wood on this one but
a cut is the only thing that will
stop this fight short of 10 rounds.

Might add 1 unit to Echols but the
fight is in Mundine's back yard and
I would hate to get screwed by a
contraversial decision.

Here's my opinion on the fight.

I think Mundine can box and run for 12 rounds and win the fight. But he won't. Mundine's going to want to impress his fans in Sydney at some point and he is going to try to go toe to toe with Echols and get knocked out. I see Echols knocking him out within 8 rounds. Mundine has never faced a guy with this much punching power before. The way I see it Mundine has to do everything right to win this fight, whereas Echols just has to land a good combination and the fights over. 26 of his 29 fights have ended in KO's (one was a DQ win and 2 UD's by guys that don't get KOed).

My pick: Antwun Echols -182 1 unit (Pinnacle).

Did you guys see where Brown pulled out of the fight? Article from fightnews.com

Boxing advisor Robert Mittleman informed FightNews.com on Monday evening that John Brown is at his aunt?s residence but no reason has been given by the fighter on his no-show status for his scheduled fight with Hector Camacho, Jr. on Tuesday. ?His aunt said that he wandered into her house (on Monday) without saying anything and that he has already disappeared again. I spoke with his girlfriend but she doesn?t have any answers either. He hasn?t spoken with me. I feel as bad as everyone does,? stated Mittleman. ?I think it is a terrible mistake on John?s part. He accepted a fight and he took an advance. There is no illness or injury that I know of. I am not going to work with him again. I don?t get paid now and my reputation will take a hit,? concluded Mittleman.
-----------------------------------------
The good news is that matchmaker Chris Middendorf has contracted Byron Mackie (21-9, 5 KOs), the Canadian middleweight champion, as a replacement. You might remember Mackie from his outstanding performance two weeks (July 18) ago on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights when he dropped a majority decision to Sucra Ray Oliveira. Mackie was coming off a year layoff but he gave Oliveira as good as he got. Mackie, who stays active in the gym he owns in Ontario, faces Camacho, Jr. on a one-day notice but it might not be as big as a disadvantage as it seems. Camacho (35-1, 20 KOs) has fought only one round in the last ten months and that round was over as soon as it started. Back in November, Camacho ?stopped? veteran Freddie Ladd when Ladd complained of an ankle injury after being knocked down in the opening stanza. In Mackie's favor, he went ten rounds with Oliveira seventeen days ago without a bump, scratch or bruise. Fans should give credit to Camacho for taking a last-minute sub that is better than his original opponent. You can catch Camacho versus Mackie on ESPN2 Tuesday Night Fights at 8:00 pm ET

WOW
Huge hit on the dog Primera!
Would have gotten the over also,
but the fight changed from 10
rounds to 8, no action. Now I
know how Fletcher felt when
the Chiefs game was called.

Update!

Update!

Their is obviously some interest
in the Freitas-Barrios fight. The
over is getting hit at "the other"
book and the under is getting
hit at Olympic.

Other:
Over 6.5 +100
Under 6.5 -120
Moving in favor of the over.

Olympic:
Over 7.5 +165
Under 7.5 -205
Moving in favor of the under.

Good price on the under above,
but here is why I like the over.
Barrios is basically undefeated,
his one loss was a dq that he
revenged with a second round
ko. Freitas is also undefeated
so neither fighter has ever been
ko'd. Yes Freitas has power but
he has gone the distance in 3 of
his last 4 fights. Very good value
on the over 7.5 at +165.

boxing? hmmmm

boxing? hmmmm

hey bowlocks. like reading your posts. i really enjoy watching the fight game but haven't bet since back in the day on a ali or sugar ray etc. and then it was just with a buddy who either disliked ali or ray and there were no odds just two guys betting on their favorite boxers etc. after reading the posts etc i see alot more action on under and over how long the fight will go as opposed to who will actually flat out win the fight. is that the smarter way to go? also unless i mis read something you are betting on freitas tonight and i blieve i also saw where you were gonna go with barrios to go the distance??? is this like trying to hit the middle in football? or is this because you expect freitas to win but with the huge odds on barrios going the distance you felt this a good backup? anyway, if i can get a handle on this i wouldn't mine playing a bit to have a rooting interest as well. liked taylor but didn't play anything. like bojado too but is it just stupid to play the favorite and lay all the money as opposed to playing the under over? just a newcomer getting feet wet. thanks:shrug:

......................................

Cuevas is a good fighter and he took a pounding which says alot for Taylors ability.

Here are my notes on Jermain Taylor. I am starting to keep a log on fights that I watch so I know both guys for their next fights.

Taylor 17-0 in his 20's

Home town Arkansas
Olympic winner
strong hard left jab
Strong punchs to body. Cuevas right hip must be sore today.
good combination puncher.
Great shape for fight.
Nice right hand.
won every round in Cuevas fight 120-108 on all three cards.
Dont get hit much and controls the ring wel
7th round not even breathing hard .
Compu box record 655 jabs a new record for middleweights.
Trainer in corner had him focused and overall a good job.
Dont seem to cut although he didnt get hit much.
Good footwork in ring.

My play here is the over 7.5
(which is now back down to +145)
However I am not as confident
with Fletcher now on the under.
I guess we'll see.

This fight is a good example of why
more totals are played than sides.
If you want to bet on Freitas you
have to lay 650 to make 100. Most
betters will not lay that much jack.
But consistently playing dogs is a
great way to lose money.

Over/Under's are set to where you
usually don't have to lay more than
3 to 1.

You asked about middles or hedge
plays. Here are a few examples:

Two weeks ago in the Candelo-
Garcia fight I had a play on Candelo
and the over. I knew that if the fight
would be stopped it would be Candelo
doing the damage. Unfortunatly I lost
more units on the over than I won on
Candelo but you can see my point.
I could not lose both bets and had a
great chance to win both.

Coming up:
I will be playing Holyfield and the over.
Toney will not be knocking out Holyfield,
so if Holy loses the over hits. And there
is a good chance of hitting both.

Although I will be playing Mosely by
decision, a good hedge would be Oscar
and the over. Mosely will not knock out
Oscar period, so if Oscar loses the fight
will definitely go over. And again a good
chance for the double hit.

Just a few examples.

and tonight with freitas?

and tonight with freitas?

being very new to boxing i was wondering if the middle could be used to night in the freitas fight. freitas should most definitely win the fight so it's only a matter of if it goes 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 depending on where ya play it. so if you played freitas to win inside the distance -250 could it be backed up with barrios by decision +1100? does this make any sense and i apologize before hand if my thought patterns are novice and naive. thanks

Putting a small wager on Barrios by
decision at +1000 is not a bad idea
considering he has never lost a fight.
Hell 10 bucks pays 100, why not.
But in this situation you could
definitly lose both bets. Freitas has
gone the distance 3 of his last 4
and he won all of them including
the one against Casamayor who
is a great boxer. There is no for
sure hedge here, sorry.
