they voted with the bill because it was attached to the port security bill and they pretty much HAD to vote it in.

some crooks (FRIST) found a way to attach it to a completely unrelated bill. assholes!

Yeah, what a sham that was. That last second crap pulled by Frist was atrocious.

they all do it...

murtha tried to stealthily defund the military effort in iraq(he was afraid of defunding via a clean bill because then the dems wouldn`t be able to "blame bush") by attaching a variety of restrictions on spending and troop deployments, threatening republicans with a complete cutoff of funds if they tried to oppose such restrictions.....

it` s bidness as usual....and if any of them had one iota of integrity,it would be stopped...issues would stand or fall on their merits and those that sponsor them would be held responsible...

We are talking about gambling. What does the Iraq 'War' have to do with it?

what a piece of shit administration. i'm sure pockets got greased again. the whole fucking world economy is all fucked up and they manage to get time to pull this bullshit off :mj07:

what does it mean? it clearly says in the law that the gambler (us) is not doing anything illegal and we can accept money from the gambling sites but it's gonna be damn hard getting money to and from.

you think books are having payment processor problems now, just wait about 6 months to a year.

all my 'off the top of my head' opinion.

Compliance 12/1/09

The Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board today announced the release of a joint final rule to implement the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. The Act prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with unlawful Internet gambling, including payments made through credit cards, electronic funds transfers, and checks.

The Board and the Treasury are required by the Act to develop a joint rule in consultation with the Department of Justice. The final rule requires U.S. financial firms that participate in designated payment systems to establish and implement policies and procedures that are reasonably designed to prevent payments to gambling businesses in connection with unlawful Internet gambling. The rule provides non-exclusive examples of such policies and procedures and sets out the regulatory enforcement framework. For purposes of the rule, unlawful Internet gambling generally would cover the making of a bet or wager that involves use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any applicable federal or state law in the jurisdiction where the bet or wager is initiated, received, or otherwise made.

Compliance with the rule is required by December 1, 2009.

the same books that don't have problems with processors now....the good ones and anyone with a brain knows who they are won't have problems later.

it's still 13 months away before any of this goes into effect which is plenty of time for other methods to be brought forward or the law repealed or modified.

not worried in the slightest.....even less worried about poker.

there's only one book i know of that never had a processor problem for withdrawals but they did have a few shut down on them.
some clear it up more quickly because of their deep pockets.

13 months away is the deadline, but, you're right, that's a long time and there's going to be bitching and moaning and new methods of transfers, and maybe changes in the law too.

still, for them to take all the time they have on this bullshit law is ridiculous, totally ridiculous.

i'm the opposite thinking here.

if they try to enforce this, the poker sites would scare off from U.S. business and the sportsbooks won't.
