President Bush's approval rating has surged in recent weeks, reversing what had been an extended period of decline, with Americans now expressing renewed optimism about the future of democracy in Iraq, the campaign against terrorism and the U.S. economy, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News Poll.

Bush's overall approval rating rose to 47 percent, from 39 percent in early November, with 52 percent saying they disapprove of how he is handling his job. His approval rating on Iraq jumped 10 percentage points since early November, to 46 percent, while his rating on the economy rose 11 points, to 47 percent. A clear majority, 56 percent, said they approve of the way Bush is handling the fight against terrorism -- a traditional strong point in his reputation that nonetheless had flagged to 48 percent in the November poll.

Not at all it jumped last year after that Iraq election. Then started to tank as Iraq return to killing. Then Scooter hit it. Were not done with him yet. And now the spy game is on. So after 5 speeches in 19 day's. He better move up or move out. Will be interesting if he has to stay on the air wave to keep it up. Or if he starts to tank again.

Larry,

You forgot to include the first part of the sentence:

Based on a survey of those with an IQ of less than 70, the results showed...

No if people are surveyed with an IQ less than 70 that would be a democrat because Republicans get an education, democrats complain that all of life is against them and hang out at the welfare office.

Nothing to get excited about either way. His job performance rating seems to mirror the price of gas. It is sad but true.

Generally one would think Bush's handlers keep him under wraps because of the media beat down he takes many times when he does come front and center. He must be improving. I got a feeling he will be more public.

I myself would also like to see him directly answer his critics more often. It doesn't come across well when many around him are constantly speaking for him. Brings out the conspiracy theory pro's (like some from here :) ) Especially when they have to answer questions about his character and motivations.

I'd much rather listen to the honest words of a stumbling man than the bs from a "slick" con. :)

One poll has him up whereas another has him still at 38% regardless he is treading water around the same approval ratings that Nixon had. I can tell you what would improve his ratings and that is if he would stop the BS and just start being honest with the people whom pay his salary. Many of the conspiracy theories if true or false are a direct result of the secrecy of this administration.
