One early 72 play @ Sportingbet
Singh -111 over Mick

Might have jumped the gun on this one as I feel $plays are someone may have better odds later but getting in now.
Will continue to fade Mick vs quality players till he proves he can keep driver in fairway.
Observations on Singh last week were good and bad.He appears to have recovered from injury and was very sharp, however attitude when somethings wrong was not steller.
After towel penelty he went through motion rest of round, and on final rd when he dumped ball in water near end, while in edge of rough in fairway on next whole he barily waited for players to leave green and rushed up to shot and hit it with no regular routine.

Any chance of Singh getting the bird from the gallery after his crass comments on Sorenstam...certainly deserves it.

No statement from the tour on his comments, yet they unofficially banned Jonathan Kaye for messing with his ID badge...should be a big fine imo...

Estes (33/1, Easybets), 2nd last time out and should be suited here.
Verplank (33/1, Bet365), top 10 in 3 of his last 4 events and runner-up here a couple of years ago.
Leonard (40/1, Chandler), giving him another shot as he has excellent course form.

Whats the scoop on Kaye/Badge? I haven't heard that.

I think Singhs statement is reflection of what I stated above, they caught him when he was still steaming from bad shot and double bogie that day. To wish someone ill fate is unbecoming of a professional. He could have got his point across tactfully like Hoch;)
Scott Hoch, who once played with Sorenstam in a mixed-team tournament, said he wants to see her play well so people will realize "how much separation there is between us and the ladies' tour."

I can understand some animosity and personally have lost respect for Annika having seen her in several interviews.
She keeps harping it is personal challenge. If that be case in point she should consider it a HUGE challenge to qualify for pga event like Wi from Hawaii did. I say cool to that and wish them the best. If they qualify they deserve to play and I don't think one tour player would object. However there can be only one reason she does not want to try and qualify like most. Her ego. She does not have the balls to get trounced in qualifying tourney but will take a shot at anothers expense to play in event she is expected to lose in aka nothing to lose but everything to gain. Just my personal feelings Clive and I know that we disagree on this issue but I totally respect your point of view. I am in the Hoch catagory, hoping she plays her best and gets drilled but I believe there will be a day in next few years that Ms Wi does qualify via normal route and I would be pulling for her and would for Annika if she went same route.--Don't know if you had chance to see any interviews, there were many ( her motives?) but she did not come off well and in viewing my opinion of her has totaly changed.
--and she is very wrong that this event will not relect on her and lpga.If truth be known I would say there are more members of lpga that hate to see her in this event than pga.

Outright plays (1 unit):

Bob Estes to win 28/1 e.w. @ Stan James
With winds of 12-15mph forecast each day, siding with three players who play well in these conditions and should be aided by the lack of par-fives at the TPC Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas. Estes has a mixed record in this event - 6th, 12th, 62nd and four missed cuts in the last seven years - but he approaches this event in excellent form having finished no lower than 31st all season and was only denied by Steve Flesch in a playoff for the HP Classic of New Orleans two weeks ago. One of his four Tour wins has been in his home State of Texas.

Scott Verplank to win 33/1 e.w. @ Tote
Verplank is another who has a mix of good and bad finishes at Las Colinas. He has played in each of the last nine years, finishing in the top-5 twice (2nd in a playoff to Robert Damron two years ago), but missing the cut four times in that streak. But also like Estes, he is in good form coming into this event with top-10 finishes in three of his last four events, including the Players Championship and the Masters, and really should have won the HP Classic of New Orleans. He now lives in Oklahoma, but was born in Dallas, Texas.

Robert Allenby to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
No Texas link for Allenby, but he did win the Houston Open in 2000. He also finished in the top-10 last year and has been impressive at times this year with three top-five finishes from eight starts in 2003. He is an excellent wind player and the more that is a factor and the less this is a putting contest, the greater his chances will be.

Cheers to Large222, Boags, and any other recent posters I'm overlooking. Go Well and Tally Up some winners. I'm about 8-10 weeks out since I updated my own tally for my posted plays.

I've only been posting golf plays for about 16 months, but I don't have to go looking elsewhere to know you won't find a better crew anywhere. Stanley leads the way, which includes his great service in compiling a Recap of all posted plays on a standardized basis of 1 unit for every wager.

I'm still toiling away on this week's events, but for those that didn't see it, this column on Paul Casey is worth a read:

outrights: Will take a long one to start and reserve rest for in running.
Petrovic 20/1 to place @ 5dimes

Odd choice, maybe? Good wind player and 17th finish last year would indicate course fits his eye. Not asking him to do something he hasn't done before having 2 top 5's in 13 events this year giving him a break-even place odds of 6.5 well under the quoted 20/1

72 holes
Verplank -110 over Leonard @ Cascade
Both excellent course form,Verplank much better current form

Campbell +100 over Howell
While days of large odds on outrights are done still can find value in matches. I like this kid. He finished 39th in only try here last year vs 2 cuts in 2 attempts for Howell. In their last 5 events Campbell out of top 25 only once/Howell in top only once.
Howell has one swing speed-full throttle- does not work well in wind for most part.

Toms +100 over Price @ Cascade
going against cardinal rule of playing on previous weeks winner and probably not the soundest of wagers considering Prices course form but it is his current form I am attacking.Take away his fluke 20 putt 1st rd last week and his recent play has been mediocre at best for him.
Toms had no wins last year but followed three 2nds with 3rd-4th and 12th last year and going back to 2001 followed three wins with 6th-11th and cut so does not appear to be "fall back" prone.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
adding 72 hole @ 365 (ties lose)
Allenby -110 over Garcia
As Stan noted Allenby excellent wind player-Garcia living up to pre season prediction-last 3 events has been on Euro tour and managed only one cut there.2003 all tours 6 cuts in 13 events.

Petrovic -105 over Kuehne @ Wsex
refer to outright

As far as I know, Kaye's suspension was never made official...he just didn't play for a while! Thanks for the description Scrub!

Vijay on the retreat now! A couple of calls from his sponsors may have helped!

Haven't seen much of Annika, DTB. It's all a bit of a gimmick, but great publicity, and is causing huge interest and I imagine there will be lots of betting opportunities...hopefully, one of mine will dot up in the LPGA event at Corning without Annika getting in the way!

As far as qualifying is concerned, don't think that'll help..Whaley qualified at GHO within the rules, yet people are still whining about that...

She's been invited by the sponsors, and who can blame them! Great publicity in an event where there's no Tiger..they must be laughing. Vijay's comment about others missing out is just bollocks...sponsor spots often go to the less needy, local college amateurs, old legends etc.

Trying to think of a few players who books may put her in 72 hole matches with??

Singh v Annika?? 1/12 I would have thought?

One thing about it Clive it has added major excitement and that is good. They have place on cnn/sports illustrated where you can send David Ferherty email. He had made remark on TV that lpga had closed the talent level with Pga in recents years. I sent him an email and told him while I love watching lpga and am huge fan of it his comment on parity of tours was in line with his "Tiger is only player in world that could make that shot" comment, absurb.
To prove my point I ask him if in his wildest dreams could he envision an eighth grader playing in a pga major, and then add to that they not only make cut but finish in top 10 as Wi did in lpga major. I'll report back if I get reply from him.:p

Matchup plays (1 unit):

Bob Estes to beat Chad Campbell -110 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Opposing Campbell in this company as his form has dipped a little since he had four top-10 finishes in five events in February-March. Still solid, but has not been in contention recently and has yet to finish in the top-20 in a PGA Tour event in Texas. He'll make the cut, but top-20 at best. Will side with the outright pick who has finished ahead of Campbell in their last two common events.

Nick Price to beat Chad Campbell -125 @ Centrebet
Will also side with Price against Campbell given his consistent form, particularly evident last week when he led the Wachovia Championship in the early stages, and excellent course history. He has finished outside the top-20 just once in his last nine visits to Las Colinas and has been 3rd and 8th in the last two years.

Kenny Perry to beat Robert Gamez -111 @ BetandWin
If Perry is one of the most consistent players on Tour, Gamez is quite the opposite! Perry has made his last ten cuts on Tour, whereas Gamez is seven from ten. Perry has made seven cuts in his last nine visits to Las Colinas, including four top-15s, whereas Gamez has made one from two with a best finish of 50th. Perry has made eight of his last cuts in Texas, including three top-10s in his last five starts, whereas Gamez has missed five of ten, with just one top-30. Gamez did finish 2nd last week, but it was the only time in their last four common events that Gamez has finished ahead of Perry and Perry just seems the more dependable player for this week.

Tim Petrovic to beat Hank Kuehne -105 @ WSEX
Kuehne has a good record in Texas and finished 13th last year, but this is not an event that should suit his game. There are only two par-fives on the TPC course and it has been tightened for this year's event. The changes should suit Petrovic more and given his high finishes when making the cut in recent months, he could improve on his 17th place finish of last year.

Shigeki Maruyama to beat Frank Lickliter -125 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Can't see this one lasting until the weekend - both players have failed to reach the weekend in five of their last six events! Maruyama's season has been hampered by injury, but as defending champion this should be a week that he plays beyond the pain barrier. Lickliter has just been playing extremely poorly since he won in Tucson and his confidence must be extremely low.

Loren Roberts to beat Arron Oberholser -137 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Had this matchup a few weeks ago and will play it again. Roberts has never finished below Oberholser in a PGA Tour event and with an extensive course history that includes a win in 1999 and a top-10 finish last year, he shouldn't finish below Oberholser who has yet to play these courses.

Certainly agree they haven't closed talent gap, but they have closed the interest gap...worldwide, the LPGA is far more popular than it used to be, and fair play to them.

Their fan friendly policy is a huge boost, even if it does border on selling sex, but they are doing a great job marketing the tour, their web site is tremendous, and the fact that players answer ?s and even contribute to message boards (as they do on LET too)...the PGA are miles behind in this respect.

oh...almost forgot...Price 28, Allenby 40, Leonard 40!
