I tore, not ruptured my achilles and that was bad enough. 3 months no activity. Rupture is fuckin' NASTY. Im playing in the WPT mens doubles and singles pickleball tourneys in Macon GA on Jan 20th and 21st for a national championship and cash at the 3.5-4.0 level in both. Sucks you guys can't bet on me.i can't believe a 40-year old qb coming off a ruptured achilles didn't take them to the super bowl.
i ruptured mine at 46, and my athletic career was over until i discovered pickleball.
so aaron rodgers and i are likely to finish with the same number of super bowl wins after our injuries.
That's incredible. Good luck, let us know your successes.I tore, not ruptured my achilles and that was bad enough. 3 months no activity. Rupture is fuckin' NASTY. Ouch. But sounds like the journey is worth it.I tore mine off the heel bone 4 months ago at 58. Wasn't fun. I was able to jog at 15 weeks though and am functionally better than I was before it gave up because I don't have pain and don't limp. Still have a long way to go with strength and stamina. 17 weeks post surgery now and Im really happy with how it is progressing.
same here. at the ER, the PA told me they usually do an x-ray to confirm the achilles is ruptured. but she told me, while running her hand down the back of my ankle, "yeah, your achilles just isn't there."I tore mine off the heel bone 4 months ago at 58. No, mine stemmed from a bad ankle injury my senior year in college. Was never properly diagnosed or repaired. I seriously doubt I'll have any issues with the other one.same here. at the ER, the PA told me they usually do an x-ray to confirm the achilles is ruptured. but she told me, while running her hand down the back of my ankle, "yeah, your achilles just isn't there."
in case anyone squeamish is still reading, you may want to stop.
on the bright side, there was just enough left on the bone for them to reattach it. so... yay!
i wonder if they told you what they told me.... that if you rupture an achilles, you are 25% more likely to rupture the other one. i have faithfully done heel lifts (raise quickly, lower very slowly) every morning since then.
