Told this story before here. A few years back I bought season tickets to all the Texas St home games in football and basketball . Moving to Southwest Austin to retire the campus is only 20 miles south of my house . I liked small Scholl's since I lived in upstate NY near Marist College . Texas St was playing Incarnate Word from San Antonio in the 2nd or 3rd game of the season. Texas St had just played Baylor the week before at Baylor and lost in a competitive game. I never heard of Incarnate Word and many of the Tx St fans that afternoon also were like me. The fans were upset that they had just played Baylor and now where lowing themselves on the schedule playing Incarnate Word. A small Catholic school in San Antonio and were I think D-3 or NAIA . I sat in row 10 or -12 right in front of the Incarnate Word team bench. The guy sitting to my right told me a little about Incarnate Word . Many of the Tex St fans had signs and were saying and cheering " why are we playing a delinquent college " or school . I knew Incarnate Word was a college because on the Interstate a few exits before you get to UTSA there is an exit for Incarnate Word. Gotta drop off my grandson to school In school I am in Sawthmore Pa just outside of Philly Flew up last night and missed the NFL draft but Cam Word was No 1 back later

Stopped at Dunk'in Donuts We have Shipleys Donuts in Texas . Almost the same but coffee is better at Dunk'in . Reading my NY post and Dailey News Miss those newspapers in Texas . Anyway the guy sitting next to me at Texas stadium has his2 daughters with him One goes to Tex St and the other Incarnate Word . Right in front of us is a big black qb warming up . He is the starter at Incarnate Word. The Father asks me " do you know who are qb is?" His name is cam Ward and he is one of the best qb's in the country ". Meanwhile the Texas St fans are making fun of Incarnate Word . But once the game started Cam Word was unstoppable Not sure of the stats that day but Incarnate Word won big and Ward threw for over 300 yds and 3 or 4 td's. The Incarnate coach became the head coach at Tex St a few years later He was amazing and still couldn't believe no one ever heard of him The Texas Longhorns didn't have a QB of that talent . And Incarnet had two wr's that caught everything as they blew out Texas St . Not sure if anyone last night from Tex St will remember the Qb from Incarnate Word as he was selected No 1 in the draft but I will never forget him The parent sitting next to me said I would never bet against Cam Ward. I tried on my phone to change the bet vis phone batting but I didn't get through Think Texas St was -14 favored Never got my bet in but Incarnate kicked the hell out of Texas St more then the Baylor score the week before Tonight enjoying my 2 grandkids . They both play little league and will sit back and enjoy the Swarthmore little league games. Everything in Philly is blooming . So beautiful
