Carvana, blaming a "recession" in auto sales, said it is cutting 2,500 jobs and informed some workers of the layoffs via Zoom. The online car retailer also sent an email to workers from CEO Ernie Garcia III that said most of the cuts would be in the company's operations division.
"I am sorry," Garcia said in the email.
Carvana shares plunged $6.66, or 18%, to $30 on Wednesday. The company's stock has tumbled 87% since the start of the year amid its slowing growth and a spike in vehicle prices.

The company, whose shares are down more than 83% this year, has faced very negative sentiment lately on Wall Street. Carvana received downgrades from the likes of Stifel, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo in May.
“Deteriorating capital market conditions and worsening trends in the used vehicle industry have eroded our conviction in the path for Carvana to secure the necessary capital to realize sufficient scale and self-funding status,” Stifel’s Scott Devitt said in a research note Tuesday.
Carvana in April reported disappointing quarterly results with a wider-than-expected loss per share.
I bought this dog at $14.49 now it's $8.94. Stuck $5500. Ah, see what happens. The whole market blows. I got completely out a few months ago then started getting back in at the worst time.

Earnings next week. Before earnings come out, not sure I have the balls to pick up another 1000 to average down my cost but I'm thinking about it.
