Well here we are.... Semi Finals.... I was thinkin of callin it quits with a positive for the season.... but I like a few more plays tommorrow...

Toronto @ Montreal -12.5 O/U 49.5

Toronto is playing great lately.... but they haven't faced too many tough teams in awhile.... they are running at full speed but will run right into a Brick wall (Montreal)...... Sold out stadium in Montreal 57,000 + the place will be booming.... However 12.5 is too much for me to lay in a semifinal game.... But I do feel Montreal wins this one... but who knows by how much.... so the ML is the play here!

Montreal ML -500 10 units to win 2.0 units..

Winnipeg pk @ Edmonton O/U 52

Winnipeg on too much of a roll right now.... Edmonton's not... Even without Stegall Winnipeg should win this one.... but because Edmontons at Home and they are hosting the grey cup this year they will keep it close.... Should be a tight game here decided by a late FG.....

so I'll tease it...

Winnipeg +6 and Montreal -6.5 2.2 to win 2.0

Adding one prop:

Thru the season Montreal has scored the first TD of the game 14 times and the oppononent only 4 times.... and 2-0 against Toronto.....

so Montreal to score the first TD -225 4.5 to win 2.0

I agree with your prop bet, ARGOS are slow getting out of the gate...not usually waking up until about 5 minutes into the third quarter......

they CAN'T afford to do this against MONTREAL.

which ARGO team will show up.....?

good luck with your picks this week, guys!!!!

cut and pasty analysis:

The eastern final at Olympic Stadium features a team that's getting hot at the right time, and a squad that every expected to be there.

The Toronto Argonauts won their fourth in a row, beating Saskatchewan 24-14 in front of a delirious home crowd. The Argos yet again had to come from behind, trailing Saskatchewan 12-0 before the game changed on a big play.

Rookie cornerback Bashir Levingston scored on a 76-yard punt return with 42 seconds left in the first, and that gave the Argos the spark they needed. In the second half, the Toronto defense shut down the Riders offence, with the final two points coming on a conceded safety on the last play of the game.

While the defense played well, the offence took a while to get going. Reggie Slack Completed 16 of 29 attempts for 216 yards, no TD's and one interception. He also had a team-high 23 yards rushing, and scored an insurance touchdown on a seven yard run. Robert Drummond got the other Argo major on a one-yard plunge.

The Alouettes haven't played since November 3, when they were defeated 26-25 by Ottawa. Montreal fans shouldn't get too upset over the loss, because their starting quarterback Anthony Calvillo didn't play. Tavares Bolden got the start, but lasted only two series before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He was replaced by Matt Lytle, and the former Seattle Seahawk and Carolina Panther completed just 11 of 27 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown.

The Alouettes started the regular season with eight consecutive wins, then went 5-5 down the stretch, which included two losses in their last three. Overall, they led the league in six offensive categories, including average yards offense per game, average gain per rush (5.8) and average gain per pass (8.7.)

The numbers: Toronto lost twice to Montreal this season, 28-12 and 38-3. A primary reason for the losses, lack of offence. The Argos had four different quarterbacks this year and was ranked last in 16 of 25 offensive categories.

Injuries: Montreal DB Barron Miles hurt his knee in practice this week and is iffy.

Keys to the game: the game will be played in front of sell-out crowd of 55,000. If the Alouettes score early, things will snowball in their favor. On the other side, Toronto can't afford to fall behind early, because, Montreal is a much better team than Saskatchewan, or Calgary, whom Toronto beat to get into the playoffs. A lot of people are pointing to recent history. In 1997, Reggie Slack led the third-place Riders to upset wins over both Calgary and Edmonton en route to a Grey Cup berth in Edmonton. And, they also point to the last two seasons, where 8-10 teams win the Grey Cup- BC in 2000, and Calgary last year.

Slack is five years past that Grey Cup berth. He's had six knee operations, and one of his knees is nothing but bone on bone. He doesn't run as well, or often as he used to. He'll have a tough time escaping the lightning-fast Montreal defense. To paraphrase the old storybook classic, the clock strikes midnight and Cinderella won't even get a chance to go to the big dance. The mean ol' step-brother, played by Montreal head coach Don Matthews, will spoil everything. The better team will win.

WINNIPEG / EDMONTON :

Winnipeg continues to be the hottest team in the CFL, winning their semi-final game with BC last week, 30-3.

The win was their sixth consecutive and it was a total team effort. The league's leading receiver, Milt Stegall missed the game with what was called a hip pointer, but, insiders insists it's a cracked rib. Wide receiver Arland Bruce III ran a wide field goal back 112 yards to give Winnipeg a 10-0 lead, and they never looked back.

Winnipeg's ground game was a thing of beauty, with Charles Roberts carrying 16 times for 169 yards, and to add the BC's woes, 6-foot-3 inch, 265 pound fullback Mike Sellers ran over, around and through the Lions defense, gaining 76 yards on 9 carries.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg QB Khari Jones completed 13-21 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown to Jamie Stoddard, ironically, the man replacing Stegall.

The last time the Eskimos played, they lost in Winnipeg 20-8. It appeared to be more of the same for Edmonton, with 2 lost fumbles and 2 interceptions. That makes a grand total of 16 lost fumbles, 8 interceptions and three turnovers on downs, or, 27 turnovers in the last seven games.

During the game in Winnipeg on November 2, volatile running back Ronald Williams got into a heated argument with defensive end Elfrid Payton, and was released two days later. The six year-veteran was also released by Hamilton last year, and by Winnipeg in 1997, and in both cases, attitude was the problem. Nine-year CFL veteran Troy Mills, who was released by Winnipeg in the off-season, has been signed as insurance.

The numbers: the teams split a pair this year, each team winning at home.

The injuries: Stegall is still questionable, as is left tackle Garrick Jones. For Edmonton, everyone is set to go.

Keys to the game: The Jinx looms large heading into the game. First, only three times in modern football history, has a team that's hosted the Grey Cup, won the game...Hamilton 1972, Montreal 1977, and BC 1994. The pressure for the host team to get to the big show is enormous. Secondly, the Eskimos face another jinx. In the past 15 years, only 3 times has the first-place team won the Western Final to go to the Grey Cup. In the last 6 years, the team that won the Western semi-final has gone onto the Grey Cup five times. Here's another jinx update: The Eskimos have hosted the West final 5 times since 1987, and have lost them all.

The Eskimos have announced that Sacramento State grad Ricky Ray will get the start at QB. Some are scratching their heads over that decision, which means the veteran University of Oregon product Jason Maas, will come off the bench if need be. Doesn't matter who it is at QB. This game comes down to one factor...the running attack. Winnipeg has the best run defense in the league, and, they 're also getting their ground game going with both Roberts and Sellers. If the Eskimos can't get John Avery going, things turn in Winnipeg's favor. And, if the Eskimos fall behind early, the huge crowd will get a little antsy, and the pressure will increase. defense and a running attack wins in bad weather. The jinx lives on.

I agree!!

Montreal -6 2nd half... 3.3 to win 3.0

Toronto starting to play a little better with 3rd string QB in.... but I think the key was the comment by Don Matthews at half... saying "Toronto is playing differently then they have before.. and they will adjust to that and the offence will not have as many problems..."

Basically he's talkin about the blitzing from Toronto.... With some adjustments Calvillo will pick it apart! and Toronto will have a tough time winning if all they can do is kick FG's... :p

completely disagree....as much as i hate to admit this, the argos weren't pathetic at all....

i give the ALs credit, for getting the turnovers in the first quarter to pretty much change the complexion of the game and kill the ARGOS' momentum.

BUT:

IF jim ballard didn't throw those two lousy ( and i mean, LOUSY)interceptions AND destroyed toronto's momentum in the first quarter, the game would have had a different look to it....

and i STILL would have gotten my TORONTO under.

but in hindsight that means shit right now as the ALS are goin to the finals again....

i hope jim ballard rots in hell.
:gf:

i don't think i've ever been pissed off at one CFL player destroying his team's chances of winning a game....
