Genius move? How do you figure? They were up 8 when they started doing it and damn near lost the game. Here's why it was terribly executed: They were fouling him early in the shot clock, thus extending the game - not what you want to do with an 8 point lead. Second, the clips offensive rebounding % of a Deandre miss FT is almost 20%. I don't recall how many they got last night but it was a lot. And thirdly, it allowed the clips defense to get back after a missed free throw. The Spurs scored once I think when hacking. The 2 pivotal Spurs baskets were fast breaks. One off the griffin turnover and one off the Barnes missed 3.
I do think that popp made some great adjustments last night in between games 1 and 2 but that his end of game management was terrible.
One additional note, I think Popp lucked out that manu and TP were out. They were terrible last night but would have been playing. (No paddy mills)
