Russell scores 40 points, Nets rally to beat Magic

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) D'Angelo Russell matched his career high with 40 points and the Brooklyn Nets overcame a 21-point deficit to beat the Orlando Magic 117-115 on Friday night.

Russell's 3-pointer with 27.1 seconds left put the Nets up for the first time since they led 2-0. After missed free throws by both teams left Brooklyn with a two-point lead, Evan Fournier missed a shot in the lane that would have tied it for Orlando.

Spencer Dinwiddie scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half for Brooklyn. The Nets won for the 16th time in 21 games, making 19 of 46 3-pointers. They also rallied Wednesday night in a 145-142 overtime victory at Houston.

Aaron Gordon scored 23 points for Orlando, and Nikola Vucevic had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

SPURS 116, TIMBERWOLVES 113

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points, Rudy Gay added 22 and San Antonio held on to beat Minnesota to give coach Gregg Popovich another milestone victory.

The win was the 520th on the road in Popovich's career, tying him with Pat Riley for the most in NBA history. The Spurs have won 16 of the past 18 games between the teams.

San Antonio scoring leader DeMar DeRozan sat out because of left ankle soreness.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points for Minnesota, but was limited to 21 minutes because of foul trouble. Derrick Rose also had 23 points.

CELTICS 122, GRIZZLIES 116

BOSTON (AP) - Kyrie Irving scored 20 of his 38 points in the third quarter and Boston held off Memphis.

Irving also had 11 assists and seven rebounds to help Boston win ints second straight after dropping three in a row. Marcus Smart added 20 points and Al Horford had 18

Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 26 points. They have lost 10 of 11 overall, and six in a row on the road.

JAZZ 115, CAVALIERS 99

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Donovan Mitchell scored 24 points, Rudy Gobert had 19 points and 15 rebounds and Utah routed Cleveland for its sixth straight victory and eighth in nine games.

Royce O'Neale added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ante Zizic and Collin Sexton each scored 15 points, and Cameron Payne had 14 for the Cavaliers.

PISTONS 98, HEAT 93

DETROIT (AP) - Blake Griffin had 32 points and 11 rebounds and Detroit Pistons overcame an early exit by injured Andre Drummond to beat Miami.

Dwyane Wade scored 20 points for the Heat, but missed badly on an off-balance 3-pointer in the final seconds that could have tied it.

Drummond left with a nasal injury after being hit in the face in the first quarter by the arm of Miami's James Johnson.

13) A quick story from my college days:

At U of Albany, or whatever it was called back then, we would make our own class schedule, but as an English major, I had to have an English professor sign off on the schedule, so off I went to get my last semester of college approved. This was November, 1981.

Not being a good student, doing the exact minimum to get by, the professor was unimpressed as she looked over my transcript. ?You?ve never taken any olde English classes. No Shakespeare, what do you think of Dryden?,? referring to John Dryden, the English poet/playwright.

I was a big hockey fan back then, so for some unknown reason, I say, ?I?m glad he retired; the Bruins could never beat him,? referring to Ken Dryden, the retired goalie from the Montreal Canadiens. Timing wasn?t my forte.

The professor glared at me a little, reluctantly signed off on my schedule, and I was outta there. On my down the hall, I pass an office door that said ?Dr Anne Weinberg, Head of English Dept?

Whoops, but I still somehow got my diploma. Later on I found out they changed the requirements for future English majors, to include olde English classes. Glad I could help!!!!

12) If I had to do it all over again, would?ve gone to college at Cal-Santa Barbara or Pepperdine, a a place where I?d never be cold. UNLV would?ve been a complete disaster, would?ve been back home within a year 🙂

Hell, I was lucky to graduate from a school in the frozen northeast.

9) Dallas Cowboys told offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to take a hike Friday; they fired their offensive line coach during the season, now this. From the statement Jason Garrett put out that praised Linehan, I?m guessing this was the front office?s decision, not Garrett?s.

7) When Washington Huskies swept their Utah/Colorado road trip last week, it was first time in six years the Huskies swept a 2-game Pac-12 road swing. Mike Hopkins is building a solid program in the Pacific northwest.

6) Trent Dilfer played in the NFL for 14 years in the NFL, winning Super Bowl XXXV with the Ravens; he was on ESPN for nine years after that, but got laid off two years ago. Now Dilfer is the new football coach at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville. Not too many high schools have a former NFL quarterback as their football coach.

5) Pat Sajak was a TV weatherman in Los Angeles for five years before becoming the host of Wheel of Fortune, where I?m guessing he makes a little more money than he did while doing the weather.

4) Surprising stat: Miami Hurricanes are 7-6 in their last 13 games against North Carolina.

3) Non-basketball thing I learned from listening to Bill Walton call the Oregon-Arizona game Thursday: the Nile River flows through 11 different countries in northeast Africa.

By the way, at halftime of this game, there was a guy on the court, balancing a large ladder on his chin.

Why does someone start doing that?
How many times did the ladder fall and hit him on the face, before he mastered his craft?
Is balancing a ladder on your chin a craft?

2) Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald shot a hole-in-one Friday while playing golf with former president Obama at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, FL. He hit an 8-iron from 162 yards on the 13th hole; the ace was witnessed by Tim Rosaforte of the Golf Channel.

1) The Bodyguard is an old Kevin Costner movie where he is a retired Secret Service agent who protects a singer (Whitney Houston) who has received death threats; the movie is 2 hours, 9 minutes long, but when it showed up on channel 330 on DirecTV this week, it was put into a 3 hour, 30 minute window. That adds up to 129 minutes of movie, 81 minutes of commercials.

NBA Game Preview - Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets

Seven teams in the Western Conference are within two games of each other in the standings, promising an entertaining push for the playoffs in the final few months of the regular season. The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are a pair of teams in that mix but they are heading in opposite directions as they set to square off this week.

The Rockets began the year slowly but are finally playing like the team everyone expected following last year?s standout showing. They have zoomed up the standings and will be the clear favorites in this one as they are the better team and have the home court advantage. The Lakers started the season strong but an injury to superstar LeBron James has set them back and now they are in danger of falling out of the top-8 seeds that make the playoffs in NBA gambling.

This NBA basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 19th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on ABC.

Odds Analysis

The Lakers have won two in a row as they aim to stay afloat without James. Los Angeles is 25-21 on the season. The Lakers have had some issues on the road this year as they have only won 10 of 22 games.

The Rockets are 25-19 on the year but they did lose a game to the Nets last time out. Houston has the talent to keep moving up the standings as it is only one game behind the No. 3 seed Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Rockets have been scoring a lot of points lately, which the oddsmakers could take it under consideration when pegging the scoring total in NBA gambling.

Injury Report

Both teams are going to be missing key players for this one. The biggest one is James, who remains out with a groin injury he suffered on Christmas Day against the Warriors. The Lakers won that game and hoped to be announcing themselves as contenders in the West, but the injury has torpedoed any thought of trying to finish with one of the top seeds. James is leading the team in points, assists and rebounds on the season and the Lakers are hoping to get him back as soon as possible.

The Rockets continue to play without point guard Chris Paul, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. He seems on track to be back soon but is unlikely to play in this matchup. Houston will also be without standout forward Clint Capela, who is going to miss more than a month due to injury.

Key Stat

35.4. That?s the points per game Rockets star James Harden is averaging, which easily leads the league. Harden has been in an incredible groove lately as he has regularly scored more than 50 points in multiple contests.

Without Paul and Capela, Harden has taken over and has the green light to shoot at any time. The Lakers would love to force others to beat them, but that?s every team?s plan and Harden still manages to take over games. Look for him to go for more than 40 in this one and 50 wouldn?t be a surprise.

The Rockets are the better team but they are short-handed, which could allow Los Angeles to hang around even without the presence of LeBron. The Lakers aren?t going to win this game but they could be a good choice to cover the spread in NBA betting lines.

This one could have plenty of points, but the oddsmakers know that, too, so keep an eye on the scoring total when it is released.

Game of the Night: Lakers at Rockets ? 8:30 PM EST

LeBron James remains sidelined for Los Angeles (25-21 SU, 19-25-2 ATS) with a lingering groin injury as the Lakers own a 5-7 record without their superstar. The Lakers picked up their second straight win in Thursday?s 138-128 overtime triumph at Oklahoma City as 10-point underdogs. L.A. erased an early 17-point deficit to actually lead at halftime, 67-63. Kyle Kuzma paced the Lakers with 32 points, while Ivica Zubac put up 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting off the bench, to go along with 12 rebounds.

The Rockets (25-19 SU, 22-21-1 ATS) suffered only their second home defeat in the last 14 games in improbable fashion on Wednesday against Brooklyn. Houston held a 13-point advantage with four minutes remaining in regulation and a six-point edge with 28.6 seconds left before Spencer Dinwiddie drilled a trio of three-pointers to force overtime. The Nets eventually won in the extra session, 145-142 to cash as six-point underdogs, but the story wasn?t Brooklyn?s comeback.

James Harden posted a 57-point effort in Monday?s win over Memphis, but topped that output on Wednesday by scoring 58 points, which included hitting 21 free throws. The Rockets attempted a league-record 70 three-pointers and hit 23 of them, but Houston has now alternated wins and losses in each of its past eight games.

The Lakers are seeking their first three-game winning streak since early December, while trying to avenge a pair of losses to the Rockets. In the last matchup at Toyota Center on December 13, the Rockets pulled away from the Lakers, 126-111 to cash as six-point favorites. Harden torched the Lakers for 50 points, but the Rockets also played with Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, and Clint Capela, all have since been sidelined due to injuries.

Finding the Pace

For the third time this month, the Pacers (29-15 SU, 23-21 ATS) lost by double-digits to one of the beasts of the Eastern Conference. After falling to Boston and Toronto in January, Indiana dropped a 120-96 decision to Philadelphia as three-point home favorites on Thursday. Victor Oladipo was limited to 6-of-20 shooting from the floor and scored 15 points in the defeat, while Indiana lost for the first time at home since December 18 against Cleveland.

Seven of the last nine home wins for the Pacers have come against teams owning losing records, as Indiana?s next opponent sits below the .500 mark. Dallas (20-24 SU, 26-18 ATS) has compiled a dreadful 4-18 record away from American Airlines Center, but won its last road contest at Minnesota last Friday. However, the Mavericks hit the road following consecutive home losses to Golden State and San Antonio, while blowing a 19-point advantage in Wednesday?s four-point defeat to the Spurs.

The Pacers had their nine-game OVER streak snapped against the 76ers, this coming one month after Indiana ran off 12 consecutive UNDERS. Dallas swept Indiana last season, including a 98-94 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in December 2017.

Royal Road Woes

The Kings (23-22 SU, 26-19 ATS) started the season by winning four of their first six games away from Golden 1 Center. Sacramento has put together a 5-10 road record since November 4, which includes five straight away losses. The latest defeat came in Thursday?s 114-95 setback at Charlotte, as the Hornets torched the Kings for 43 second quarter points. Sacramento cashed its sixth consecutive UNDER, while allowing at least 113 points for the seventh straight road game.

Sacramento heads to Detroit looking to beat the Pistons (20-24 SU, 21-22-1 ATS) for the second time in less than 10 days. The Pistons are coming off a 98-93 triumph over the Heat on Friday, as Detroit tries to close out its homestand at 3-0 with a win over Sacramento. Detroit will attempt to avenge a 112-102 setback on January 10, as the Pistons fell behind by 17 points at halftime. The Pistons played with no rest that night as Blake Griffin sat out on the second of a back-to-back. Detroit owns a 2-3 SU/ATS record on no rest as the Pistons beat the Warriors in the only time in this situation at Little Caesars Arena.

Disappearing Act

The Magic (19-26 SU, 22-23 ATS) built a 21-point lead over the Nets on Friday, but Brooklyn rallied back for a 117-115 victory to end Orlando?s four-game home winning streak. Orlando is back on its home court tonight to host Milwaukee (32-12 SU, 26-16-2 ATS), who is 10-2 SU/ATS since Christmas.

The Bucks have covered in every win during this stretch, including four times in the road favorite role. Milwaukee has topped the 109-point mark in each of its past 10 victories, while riding a 5-1 run to the UNDER in the previous six games away from Fiserv Forum. The Bucks crushed the Magic in their first matchup this season in Milwaukee, 113-91 as nine-point favorites in late October, as Orlando was limited to 32% shooting from the floor.

Perfect Ten?

It?s been a season to forget for Chicago, as the Bulls (10-35 SU, 20-24-1 ATS) own one of the worst records in basketball and are in the midst of a nine-game losing streak. Chicago returns home from an 0-5 road trip in which the Bulls covered only once in an eight-point setback at Utah. The Bulls last won at the United Center on December 21 against the Magic, while posting a 1-7 record in their past eight home contests since upsetting Oklahoma City.

The Heat (21-22 SU, 23-20 ATS) invade the Windy City tonight seeking to end a two-game slide after losing on the road at Milwaukee and Detroit. Miami erased a 14-point halftime deficit on Friday, but ultimately lost to the Pistons, 98-93 as short underdogs. The Heat is looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak since November, as Miami has won four straight off consecutive defeats.

Paul George has late 4-point play, Thunder edge 76ers

HOUSTON (AP) James Harden scored 48 points, Eric Gordon added 30 and the Houston Rockets overcame a 21-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 138-134 in overtime Saturday night.

The Rockets trailed for most of the night and were down by 18 in the second-half. Gordon sent it to overtime with a 3-pointer, and made four free throws in the last seconds of the extra period.

Coming off 57- and 58-point games, Harden had his 19th straight game with at least 30 and he's had 40 in 10 of 13. He was 14 of 30 from the field, going 8 of 19 3-pointers, and hit 12 of 15 free throws.

Kuzma had 32 points for Los Angeles and Brandon Ingram added 21 in a game where coach Luke Walton was ejected in the third quarter. Already without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo, the Lakers have another injury concern after Lonzo Ball sprained his left ankle in the third quarter. The team said he was taken to a hospital for X-rays because the machine at the arena was broken.

Harden also had eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

James was out for the 13th straight game with a strained left groin and did not make the trip.

THUNDER 117, 76ERS 115

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Paul George converted a four-point play with 5.1 seconds left, sending Russell Westbrook and Oklahoma City past Joel Embiid and Philadelphia.

George capped a wild finish that included another memorable exchange between Westbrook and Embiid. Westbrook hit the floor out of bounds under the basket after a foul by Embiid late in the game, and Westbrook fouled out with 14.9 seconds on Embiid's 3-point try.

Embiid made all three foul shots, tying it at 113, and Jimmy Butler's layup put Philadelphia in front with 6.9 seconds to go. But George hit a 3 while being fouled by Butler and made the foul shot.

Philadelphia had one last chance, but Butler missed a 3-point attempt in the final seconds. The 76ers have lost 19 in a row to the Thunder.

George finished with 31 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Westbrook had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Embiid, who was a game-time decision because of back tightness, had 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

RAPTORS 119, GRIZZLIES 90

TORONTO (AP) - Danny Green had a season-high 24 points and set a franchise record for 3-pointers in a quarter with seven in the third to help Toronto beat Memphis.

Green had 21 points in the third, one shy of Kyle Lowry's franchise record for a quarter. He matched a career high with eight 3s for the game. He also made eight 3-pointers against Minnesota in 2013.

The Raptors extended their home winning streak to nine. Toronto is 20-4 at home.

Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard missed his second straight game for rest.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 16 points for Memphis. The Grizzlies lost for the 11th time in 12 games.

BUCKS 118, MAGIC 108

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Eric Bledsoe scored 30 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 25 points and 13 rebounds and Milwaukee beat Orlando for its fourth straight victory.

Malcolm Brogdon added 18 points, and Khris Middleton had 15. The Bucks are 11-2 in their last 13 games. Nikola Vucevic led Orlando with 27 points.

CELTICS 113, HAWKS 105

ATLANTA (AP) - Kyrie Irving scored 32 points and Boston rallied to beat Atlanta for its third straight victory.

Boston took the lead with a 9-0 fourth-quarter run, including a go-ahead 3-pointer by Jaylen Brown, who had 14 points. A drive by Irving gave Boston the lead for good at 101-100. Al Horford made four free throws and a layup to help the Celtics increase their advantage to 109-100 with 1:11 left.

Kevin Huerter led Atlanta with 18 points, and fellow rookie Trae Young had 16.

KINGS 103, PISTONS 101

DETROIT (AP) - Buddy Hield made an off-balance, fadeaway 3-pointer just before time expired and scored 35 points in Sacramento's victory over Detroit.

Hield fumbled an inbounds pass with 3.4 seconds left, scrambled to regain possession and put up the winning shot from the left wing. Blake Griffin scored 38 points for Detroit.

HEAT 117, BULLS 103

CHICAGO (AP) - Dwyane Wade had 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in his final game in his hometown, helping Miami hand Chicago its 10th straight loss

Wade, who turned 37 on Thursday, plans to retire at the end of his 16th NBA season. He got a warm reception in his return, hearing several loud ovations throughout the night.

Josh Richardson had 26 points for Miami. Zach LaVine scored 22 points for Chicago.

PACERS 111, MAVERICKS 99

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Tyreke Evans scored 19 points, Domantas Sabonis had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Indiana beat Dallas for its third victory in four games.

Harrison Barnes scored 20 points for Dallas, and DeAndre Jordan had 15 points and 16 rebounds. But the Mavericks were unable to overcome a lackluster performance by rookie star Luka Doncic. The 6-foot-7 forward scored eight points - his fewest in more than a month - and was ejected for the first time after drawing a second technical late in the third quarter.

HORNETS 135, SUNS 115

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Kemba Walker scored 21 points, Jeremy Lamb hit three-points and had 18 points and Charlotte beat Phoenix for its third straight victory.

Charlotte shot 54.5 percent from the field, made 16 of 34 3-point attempts and matched its season-high points total. Devin Booker had 32 points and 11 assists for the Suns.

13) Kentucky 82, Auburn 80? Wildcats led this game 58-41 with 17:00 left; Auburn took the lead 80-79 with 0:32 left, but Kentucky scored with 0:24 left, then Auburn never got the ball to their best player on their last possession and that was that.

Auburn alum Charles Barkley was on ESPN for a segment of this game and he ripped the current NBA product, which I?m sure didn?t thrill his bosses at Turner Broadcasting very much. Barkley complained about the amount of 3-pointers being taken by NBA teams.

It is getting harder to listen to Dick Vitale on the air; he launched into a rant every time the refs went for a replay review. Sounded like he had a plane to catch after the game.

12) Duke 72, Virginia 70? Cavaliers hit a jumper at the buzzer for the back-door cover, but they lose to a Duke team playing without their point guard.

Mike Krzyzewski is only college basketball coach that doesn?t do halftime interviews, yet his son-in-law (Chris Spatola) works for ESPN. Whats up with that? Is it that hard to answer two softball ??s on way to locker room?

11) Are ESPN?s announcers required to mention Zion Williamson EVERY TIME they promo a Duke game, because they do mention his name EVERY TIME they read a Duke promo. You would think if it wasn?t mandated someone wouldn?t do it.

8) Drexel 73, James Madison 68? Dukes led this game 22-4 early, but went 3-12 on foul line and were behind by halftime. Drexel outscored JMU 18-3 on the foul line.

6) One college that lost out big-time with all the conference changes a few years ago was UConn, whose sports program has a $40M shortfall this year. Huskies? terrible football team lost $8.7M, their basketball team $5M and women?s basketball team lost $3M.

Big 14 screwed up (in my opinion) when they took Rutgers over UConn, but they care more about football than hoops. Would the Huskies be better off as an independent in football, and a Big East member in basketball?

5) Cal-Irvine 74, Cal State-Northridge 68? Anteaters were down 47-31 at the half, but rallied to avoid this road upset. Mark Gottfried is doing a nice job rebuilding the Northridge program.

4) Nets 145, Rockets 142 OT? This game was Wednesday but it was odd; here is a breakdown of Houston?s shot selection in that game:

3-point shots: 23-70, 32.9%, 69 points
2-point shots: 22-35, 62.9%, 44 points
foul shots: 29-34, 85.3%, 29 points.

Rockets took twice as many 3-point shots as 2-point shots, but they also lost. Gerald Green played 41:00 in this game, was 5-15 from floor, all 3-point shots.

3) When James Harden scored 115 points in consecutive games during the week, none of the 33 baskets he scored in those games were assisted. Lot of holding the ball, 1-on-1 play. Last time Harden scored less than 30 points in a game was December 11, vs Portland. Rockets are 14-5 in 19 games since that night.

2) This made me feel old; there is a high school game on ESPNU Monday, with Sierra Canyon HS in the LA area; Kenyon Martin Jr is a senior on that team. It seems like 2 or 3 years ago that Martin was playing ball at Cincinnati, and then in the NBA. Good luck to the young man.

1) ESPN?s Joe Lunardi does his Bracketology thing for the NCAA tournament every day; he came up with teams from these conferences: Big 14 (10), ACC (8), Big X (7), SEC (6), Big East (5), American (4), A-14 (2), Pac-12 (2).

All the other leagues, the conference tournament will be the deciding factor, unless Nevada loses in the Mountain West, then they would get two teams.

Limiting their best player

In the earlier meeting this year between the Hornets and Pacers, Charlotte guard Kemba Walker struggled to find his shot, taking only 10 field goal attempts and connecting on five. Today he might have a similar shooting day versus a Pacers defense that is one of the best at defending opposing point guards allowing only 18.1 points a game on 40.6 shooting. Look for Indiana to keep Walker in check and back Under his point total of 23.5.


Lock down defense at home

The Pacers have the top ranked defense in opponent points per game and allow an average of only 98.1 points per game on 42.4 percent shooting at home.

Charlotte has struggled playing on the road at Bankers Life Fieldhouse winning only three of the last 18 games in the head-to-head, with the Under hitting in five straight contests. Look for Indiana to keep the Hornets offense in check and back Under the Hornets team total of 106.


Short-handed struggles

The Clippers have lost seven of their last ten games, including five straight. The Clips travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs boasting an 18-6 record on their home court. The Clippers have posted a 7-18 record over the last 25 games in the head-to-head, and if they want to win today they will have to do so shorthanded without two key players in Danilo Gallinari and reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Lou Williams.

Bet the Spurs to find success offensively versus a Clippers defense allowing an average of 120.7 points per game over their most recent three. Take San Antonio's team total Over 114.5.


Happy to be home

With injuries to two of the Clippers top offensive players, there is a serious lack of depth especially on the offensive end. It will be difficult to put up points versus a Spurs team defensively allowing only 105.6 points per game on their home court.

Look for the Spurs to take advantage of the shorthanded Clippers as the Spurs build off their 7-1 ATS record at home over their most recent eight and cover as 8-point favorites.


The KAT is out of the bag

The Phoenix Suns have been one of the worst teams at defending opposing centers allowing an average of 25.8 points per game on 55 percent shooting and 16.4 rebounds. This is an ideal spot for Karl-Anthony Towns as the Timberwolves host the Suns. Towns put up 28 points, 12 rebounds and four assists the last time these two sides met up on December 15.

Two nights ago against the Spurs, Towns scored 23 points in just 21 minutes as he was in foul trouble for most of the second half before fouling out in the fourth quarter. If Towns can stay out of foul trouble, he will have an huge impact on both sides of the ball. Bet Over his points, rebounds, assists total of 40.5.

Derrick Rose lifts Timberwolves past Suns, 116-114

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Derrick Rose hit an 18-footer with 0.6 seconds left to give the Minnesota Timberwolves a 116-114 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night.

Rose scored 29 of his 31 points in the seconds to help Minnesota overcome an 11-point deficit.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 of his 30 points in the first half for Minnesota. With Towns struggling against double-teams in the second, Rose kept the Wolves in the game on 11-for-18 shooting in the half.

T.J. Warren led Phoenix with 21 points and Devin Booker and Kelly Oubre, Jr. each added 18. Warren's last-second corner 3 hit off the side of the backboard.

CLIPPRS 103, SPURS 95

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Tobias Harris had 27 points, nine rebounds and nine assists and Los Angeles beat San Antonio to snap a five-game losing streak.

The Clippers led for all but 14 seconds in handing the Spurs their second straight loss at home.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 30 points and 14 rebounds for San Antonio. The Spurs had 18 turnovers.

Patrick Beverly added 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Clippers. Montrezl Harrell also had 18 points, and Avery Bradley had 15.

PACERS 120, HORNETS 95

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Victor Oladipo scored 21 points and Darren Collison added 19 points and nine assists Sunday, leading Indiana past Charlotte.

Indiana has won four of five to improve to 16 games over .500 for the first time since the end of 2013-14. Kemba Walker had 23 points for Charlotte.
