Before we start with our baseball trends today, I’d like to congratulate Pat O’Connor, Justin Hoffman on their induction into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame. Both guys were on the 1998 Schenectady High team that won the NYS Public High School championship.
One of the most fun things I’ve ever done was from 1993-2001, being an assistant coach for the basketball team at Schenectady; I was the nerdy analytics guy, I scouted opponents and helped with game management. It was a great educational experience.
Pat O’Connor was a lefty, a coach on the floor, a leader. He was kind of like the Draymond Green of that team, and this is a compliment. He went on to play college ball at Utica College.
Justin Hoffman was more of a scorer, skilled with the ball in his hands; a solid rebounder, he would’ve scored a lot more points on a lesser team, but one of our other big guys wound up playing in the NBA, so Justin’s opportunities were somewhat limited. He was a terrific player in college, at NYU.
Congrats fellas, it was great fun watching both of you play!!!
