No. 17 Villanova, No. 24 Baylor reach Myrtle Beach final
November 22, 2019
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) Mike Krzyzewski set the record for wins coaching a No. 1 team as top-ranked Duke got 20 points and 10 rebounds from Vernon Carey Jr. to beat Georgetown 81-73 on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Blue Devils (6-0) beat Cal and the Hoyas on consecutive nights to win the 2K Empire Classic and give Krzyzewski another slice of history. Krzyzewski is 218-34 when the Blue Devils hold the top spot, a mark they hit this week in The Associated Press poll. Hall of Famer John Wooden went 217-11 while UCLA was ranked No. 1,

Carey, a five-star recruit who inherited Zion Williamson's No. 1 jersey, has become the focal point of Duke's offense, and he had a breakthrough two games in New York. Carey dunked, screamed, chest-bumped and controlled the game for the Blue Devils to help keep them undefeated.

Cassius Stanley, who led the Blue Devils with 21 points, made a pair of 3s to stretch the game open and shake off Georgetown (4-2), which was looking to knock off two straight Top 25 teams.

The Hoyas, picked to finish sixth in the Big East preseason poll, knocked off No. 22 Texas a night earlier and went basket-for-basket with Duke in the first half. Omer Yurtseven led the Hoyas with 21 points in a mixed homecoming for Knicks great and Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing.

NO. 15 UTAH STATE 80, LSU 78

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (AP) - Sam Merrill made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 57 seconds left and Utah State overcame a 19-point deficit in the second half to beat LSU in the Jamaica Classic.

Down 54-35 with 16:32 remaining, Utah State (6-0) chipped away by making its first five 3-pointers of the second half. Alphonso Anderson's 3 cut it to 71-67.

Anderson missed a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left, and LSU grabbed the defensive rebound, but Skylar Mays had it poked away and the Aggies passed it around to run out the clock.

Merrill and Anderson each scored 24 points. Merrill, the Mountain West player of the year last season, was 5 of 9 from 3-point range, made 9 of 10 free throws and had eight assists. Justin Bean had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Diogo Brito scored 12 points.

Mays scored a career-high 30 points for LSU (3-2).

NO. 6 MARYLAND 86, GEORGE MASON 63

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 16 points, Jalen Smith had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Maryland overwhelmed previously unbeaten George Mason.

The Terrapins (5-0) closed the first half with a 19-2 run to go up by 12 and coasted to the finish against the Patriots, who went 8 for 30 (27 percent) from the floor after halftime.

AJ Wilson scored 19 points for the Patriots (5-1).

NO. 9 KENTUCKY 82, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 62

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Immanuel Quickley had eight of his 13 second-half points during an 18-3 run that helped Kentucky pull away.

Ashton Hagans had 16 points, including a three-point play during the surge the Wildcats (4-1) needed after struggling with lesser opponents the previous past two games, including last week's stunning upset loss to Evansville. They led 39-34 at the half.

Nick Richards had 11 of his 19 points in the first half, and Tyrese Maxey added for Kentucky, which shot 55% from the field. Quickley scored all 13 of his points in the second half.

Damian Chong Qui had 11 points for the Mountaineers (1-5).

NO. 10 OHIO STATE 85, PURDUE FORT WAYNE 46

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Kaleb Wesson had 15 points and seven rebounds for Ohio State.

Freshman D.J. Carton scored nine of his 13 points in the second half for the Buckeyes (5-0). CJ Walker chipped in 11 points.

The Buckeyes raced to a 16-0 run, including 3s by Walker and Duane Washington Jr., and four points from freshman E.J. Liddell.

Marcus DeBerry led Purdue Fort Wayne (2-5) with 16 points.

NO. 11 OREGON 78, HOUSTON 66

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Anthony Mathis kept up his accurate shooting with 18 points in Oregon's victory over Houston.

Mathis, a graduate transfer from New Mexico who entered making 68.2% of his 3-pointers, nailed 5 of 9 attempts from long range as the Ducks shot 10 for 20 on 3s and 54% overall.

Payton Pritchard added 16 points and five assists for Oregon (5-0).

Caleb Milles led the Cougars (2-2) with 21 points.

NO. 17 VILLANOVA 83, MISSISSIPPI STATE 76

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Jeremiah Robinson-Earl scored 22 points and Villanova beat Mississippi State to advance to the Myrtle Beach Invitational final.

Villanova (4-1) will play No. 24 Baylor in the championship game Sunday.

Collin Gillespie added 18 points, Saddiq Bey finished with 17 and Jermaine Samuels had 14 and converted a key three-point play in the closing seconds for the Wildcats. They shot 59%, made at least 10 3-pointers for the second straight day and never trailed in the second half, advancing to the championship round of their in-season holiday tournament for the seventh straight year.

Tyson Carter had 22 points for Mississippi State (5-1).

NO. 24 BAYLOR 77, COASTAL CAROLINA 65

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - MaCio Teague scored 21 points and Baylor pulled away to beat Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Invitational semifinals.

Davion Mitchell added 15 points and Jared Butler had 12 for the Bears (4-1). They trailed for the first 9 minutes of the second half before taking control with a 30-8 run and holding the Chanticleers (3-3) without a field goal for the final 8 minutes.

Keishawn Brewton had 17 points for Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers lost scoring leader Ebrina Dibba to an apparent knee injury early in the second half.

NO. 22 TEXAS 62, CALIFORNIA 45

NEW YORK (AP) - Matt Coleman III scored 14 points, Jericho Sims had 12 points and nine rebounds and Texas rebounded from its first loss of the season to beat California in the 2K Empire Classic consolation game.

A night after falling to Georgetown, Texas (5-1) played in front of a sparse crowd against Cal (4-2), with Madison Square Garden only beginning to fill up late for the Duke-Georgetown nightcap.

Bradley led Cal with 22 points.

Saturday?s 6-pack

College hoop teams getting lowest %age of their points on 3-pointers:

? Grambling 7.6%

? Sacramento State 9.8%

? Southern Utah 13.3%

? Hampton 13.8%

? Kentucky 14.7%

? Southern Miss 15.3%

Quote of the Day
?I believe that sex is one of the most beautiful, natural, wholesome things that money can buy.? Steve Martin

Saturday?s quiz
Who was the head coach of the last Pac-12 team to win the national title in basketball?

Friday?s quiz

OJ Simpson finished his NFL career with the 49ers.

Thursday?s quiz
Florida State basketball coach Leonard Hamilton was once head coach of the Washington Wizards.

*********************

Saturday?s List of 13: Clearing out a cluttered mind??

13) Xavier 75, UConn 74 2OT? Best college hoop game of the young season; six guys fouled out, three for both teams, who will be Big East rivals starting next season.

Xavier won despite going 16-26 on foul line; UConn was 25-27.

Musketeers will play Florida in the finals of the Charleston Classic Sunday night.

12) Duke 81, Georgetown 73? It is usually pretty fun to watch a coach go against Duke for the first time, how he handles getting screwed over in key situations. Patrick Ewing was a great player, but he is a young coach, and he didn?t enjoy this game very much.

Duke was 21-29 on the foul line, Georgetown 11-18. Go figure.

11) Temple 70, USC 61? Nice win for the AAC, and Temple?s rookie coach Aaron McKie.

10) Clippers 122, Rockets 119? Wouldn?t mind if these teams hooked up for a best-of-7 playoff series next spring. Lou Williams scored 26 points in the 2nd half, after not scoring in the first.

9) Myrtle Beach tournament:
? Villanova beat Mississippi State 83-76. High level game.
? Baylor beat Coastal Carolina 77-65; Coastal?s best guard hurt his knee in this game.

Villanova-Baylor is an interesting game Sunday, in the tournament final.

8) Utah State 80, LSU 78? Aggies were down 19 with 16:32 left; big win for the Mountain West Conference, which could use some quality wins.

7) NFL stuff:
? Bears? QB Mitchell Trubisky will start Sunday.
? Lions? QB Matthew Stafford (back) will miss his 3rd straight game.

6) Seattle Mariners agreed to a six-year, $24M contract with first baseman/prospect Evan White, who spent last season with the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, where he hit 18 HRs with 55 RBI in 92 games last year.

White is the first player ever at the AA level to get a long-term extension.

5) White Sox gave 1B/DH Jose Abreu a 3-year, $50M contract extension; somehow Abreu will make less money than C Yasmani Grandal, who signed with the Pale Hose this week, getting $73M for four years.

4) Missouri State 71, St Joe?s 69? Nice win for the Bears, who?ve used transfers to elevate their talent level; Lamont West played 110 games for West Virginia. Missouri State figures to contend in the Missouri Valley Conference this winter.

3) 76ers 115, Spurs 104? San Antonio has lost eight games in a row.

2) Cleveland State 47, NC-Wilmington 46? Vikings were ravaged by transfers after their coaching change; this was their first D-I win this season, five tries.

1) Nuggets 96, Celtics 92? Big week for Denver, beating the Rockets/Celtics at home.

Memphis holds off Ole Miss 87-86
November 23, 2019
By The Associated Press

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Precious Achiuwa scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as 16th-ranked Memphis held off Mississippi 87-86 on Saturday for its third consecutive victory without heralded freshman center James Wiseman.

D.J. Jeffries dunked with a second left for Memphis, then Blake Hinson beat the buzzer with a 3 for the final margin as the Tigers avoided blowing a 16-point lead.

Memphis (5-1) snapped a three-game streak by Ole Miss (4-1) in this series.

Penny Hardaway has the youngest team in the country, according to KenPom.com. He still has the No. 1 recruiting class even with Wiseman sitting out an NCAA-mandated 12-game suspension for what college sports' governing body ruled were impermissible benefits from 2017 when the Memphis coach was overseeing a local high school team.

Jeffries finished with 23 points for Memphis.

Breein Tyree led Ole Miss with 24 points.

No. 8 GONZAGA 77, CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD 49

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Filip Petrusev scored 15 points, Killian Tillie added 13, and Gonzaga pounded Cal State Bakersfield.

Drew Timme had 11 and Admon Gilder and Joel Ayayi each added 10 for Gonzaga (6-0), which has won 26 straight regular season games, longest streak in the nation.

Justin Elder-Davis scored 11 points for Cal State Bakersfield (2-4), which has never beaten a ranked opponent. The Roadrunners were undone by 40% shooting and 27 turnovers.

Gonzaga shot just 44.9%, but made 25 of 39 free throws and committed just 10 turnovers.

No. 13 SETON HALL 87, FLORIDA A&M 51

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Myles Powell scored 23 points and Jared Rhoden had 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Seton Hall to a romp over winless Florida A&M.

Florida A&M (0-5) would jump out 2-0 on a jumper by D.J. Jones, but that would be the Rattlers' only lead. Seton Hall (4-1) led by 18 before taking a 36-24 halftime lead.

Rod Melton Jr. led Florida A&M with 12 points while M.J. Randolph had 11 points and nine rebounds. Quincy McKnight had 14 points and five assists for Seton Hall.

Florida A&M pulled within single digits several times in the second half. First, after Randolph's fastbreak layup off a steal by Melton Jr. to make it 40-31 with 17:27 left. The Rattlers would have another steal a couple of possessions later when Sandro Mamukelashvili turned it over to Melton Jr., whose dunk off a break drew the Rattlers to 43-35.

No. 21 VCU 78, FLORIDA GULF COAST 48

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Marcus Evans scored 16 first-half points andVCU bookended the first half with big runs in a victory over Florida Gulf Coast.

Evans' total in the opening 20 minutes matched what FGCU managed as a team as VCU (5-0) rolled to a 43-16 lead. The Rams scored 16 of the first 18 points and, already leading 26-16, closed the half by holding the Eagles scoreless for nearly 16 minutes and running off 17 more in succession.

Caleb Catto scored 14 points for the Eagles (1-5). They committed 27 turnovers that VCU turned into 37 points.

The Rams took their largest lead at 63-28 with just over 12 minutes to play before FGCU made it respectable with a 17-3 run over the next seven minutes.

Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

Top six picks for Week 12 in Westgate Super Contest:

6) Titans -3, (748)

5) Cowboys +6.5 (840)

4) Jets +3 (891)

3) Ravens -3 (1,021)

2) Seahawks +2 (1,148)

1) Packers +3.5 (1,312)

2019 record: 33-30-3

**********

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13:Wrapping up a sports Saturday??.

13) Ohio State 28, Penn State 17? Buckeye coach Ryan Day was complaining at halftime because his team (which was up 14-0) wasn?t up 34-0. Wonder how his mood was when Penn State closed the gap to 21-17.

Buckeyes outgained Penn State 417-227; playing in a competitive game should help them down the road. Nittany Lions got a 3rd quarter boost from freshman backup QB Will Lewis, but they came up short.

Penn State coach James Franklin is 54-23 in Happy Valley, 33-18 in conference games, 2-3 in bowls; before that, he was 24-15 in three years at Vanderbilt, 11-13 in SEC games, 2-1 in bowl games. Winning at Vanderbilt is no small feat.

12) Florida International 30, Miami 24? Panthers become bowl eligible with this stunning upset, which happened at Marlins? Park, which was built on the spot where the old Orange Bowl used to be. The Orange Bowl was Miami?s home stadium.

Former Miami coach Butch Davis is FIU?s coach; all of FIU?s players probably grew up wanting to play for Miami. Hard to underestimate how much this win means for the FIU program.

11) USC 52, UCLA 35? Trojans finish their regular season 8-4 after using three different QB?s due to injuries; the kid who emerges as the #1 QB is a true freshman who threw for 515 yards and four TD?s. The new USC athletic director has an interesting decision; do you bring in a new coach, or give Clay Helton another chance?

To be clear here, lot of rich boosters aren?t all that excited by an 8-4 record.

10) Arizona State 31, Oregon 28? Sun Devils become bowl eligible while they knock Oregon out of the national title picture. In his two years at ASU, Herm Edwards is 2-7 ATS when ASU is favored, 8-4 when they?re the underdog.

9) SouthPoint Casino in Las Vegas has a fun prop bet every week; which team will score the first touchdown of the day? Lowly UConn (25-1) was this week?s winner.

8) Washington State 54, Oregon State 53? Coogs scored two TD?s in last 2:10 to stave off the surging Beavers, who now have to upset Oregon next week to become bowl eligible.

Wazzu started this season 3-0, then blew a 49-17 3rd quarter lead and lost 67-63 to UCLA- they fired their defensive coordinator and limp into the Apple Cup with a 6-5 record.

Coogs? QB Gordon threw for 606 yards, with three INTs.

7) College football upsets:
? Florida International (+20.5) 30, Miami 24
? Colorado (+14) 20, Washington 14
? Arizona State (+14) 31, Oregon 28
? Nevada (+13.5) 35, Fresno State 28
? Charlotte (+7) 24, Marshall 13
? UNLV (+7) 38, San Jose State 35

6) Charlotte 24, Marshall 13? 49ers upset the Thundering Herd on a rainy night, becoming bowl eligible for the first time in their five years of I-A football.

5) Tennessee 24, Missouri 20? Vols win their 4th game in a row, becoming bowl eligible for the first time in three years. Solid coaching job by Jeremy Pruitt.

4) College basketball upsets:
? Penn (+13.5) 81, Providence 75
? Sacramento State (+12) 77, Pepperdine 72
? NC-Wilmingtonn (+10) 66, FIU 63
? Cleveland State (+7) 65, Eastern Kentucky 51
? George Washington (+7) 78, Evansville 70
? Utah Valley (+6) 68, North Dakota State 62

3) College basketball games of the day:
Boise State 82, Pacific 76, 3OT? Broncos won second consecutive OT game; they made 11-23 on arc, Pacific 3-12.

Memphis 87, Ole Miss 86? Rebels were down 16 in 2nd half, but drained 12-27 on arc and made it a ballgame. Both teams took 30+ foul shots in what is a regional rivalry game.

2) I enjoy SEC football, but this shouldn?t happen on November 23:
? Alabama 66, Western Carolina 3
? Auburn 52, Samford 0
? Kentucky 50, UT-Martin 7
? Vanderbilt 38, East Tennessee State 0
? Mississippi State 45, Abilene Christian 7

It is embarrassing to brag that you?re the best league in the country, then play I-AA teams the week before Thanksgiving. There are plenty of bad I-A teams (UMass, New Mexico State, MAC, Sun Belt teams) who could use a payday. Charging people to watch Alabama play a I-AA team is theft.

In the ACC, North Carolina/Virginia also played I-AA teams this week. Not good.

1) Arkansas State 38, Georgia Southern 33? Great coaching job this season by ASU coach Blake Anderson, whose wife passed away just before this season started. Red Wolves are 7-4 and will go to a bowl, putting a cap on what has had to be a very emotional season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Ryan McMahon made two free throws with 16.8 seconds left, helping No. 2 Louisville escape Akron 82-76 on Sunday night.

The Zips trailed 55-33 early in the second before getting within 78-74 on the second of Loren Cristian Jackson's three consecutive layups. Darius Perry's two free throws with 23 seconds left provided a six-point lead before Jackson drove again to make it 80-76.

McMahon was fouled on the inbounds and promptly made the free throws. Akron had several chances in the final seconds before Jordan Nwora's defensive rebound as time expired.

Nwora scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half, Steven Enoch added 17 and Dwayne Sutton and McMahon 10 each for the Cardinals (6-0). Sutton also had 10 of Louisville's 48 rebounds.

Jackson and Tyler Cheese each had 20 for the Zips (4-2), who had won three in a row coming in.

No. 7 VIRGINIA 48 ARIZONA STATE 45

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Freshman Casey Morsell scored 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:02 remaining, and Virginia rallied past Arizona State to win the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.

Mamadi Diakite added 15 points for the defending national champion Cavaliers (6-0), who shot 37% from the floor and trailed by nine points after a 19-0 run by the Sun Devils. That burst turned a 26-16 Virginia lead with 30 seconds left in the first half into a 35-26 second-half deficit.

Remy Martin had 21 points to lead Arizona State (3-2). He hit eight of his 16 shots, while the rest of the team went 9 for 26.

FLORIDA 70, No. 18 XAVIER 65

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Keyontae Johnson and Andrew Nembhard had 15 points each and Florida held off Xavier in the Charleston Classic championship.

The Gators (5-2) had made plenty of headlines for their losses to Florida State and UConn that saw them go from No. 6 at the start of the season to out of the Top 25. But Florida showed the offensive punch and defensive disruption that had the team so highly regarded.

It built a 10-point lead by halftime - the first time Xavier trailed after 20 minutes all season - and kept pouring it on in the second half as a pair of 3-pointers by Nembhard and one by Noah Locke extended it to 50-35 just three minutes into the second half. When Johnson flipped in a layup moments later, the Gators led by 17.

Xavier nearly came all the way back. It closed to 68-65 on Quentin Goodin's 3-pointer with 1:08 left and had a strong shot to tie on Paul Scruggs' clean look with 13 seconds left. But Scruggs' attempt bounced twice off the rim and Kerry Blackshear Jr. grabbed it for the Gators, got fouled and made both free throws for the final margin. Scruggs had 24 points.

No. 24 BAYLOR 87, No. 17 VILLANOVA 78

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Jared Butler scored 10 of his 22 points during the final 6 minutes, helping Baylor pull away for a victory over Villanova.

MaCio Teague scored 18 points while Davion Mitchell added 13 to help the Bears (5-1) pass their first Top 25 test, a matchup that for much of the way felt like a potential Sweet 16 preview.

Baylor (5-1) broke open a tight, tense game with nine ties and 18 lead changes by scoring on their final 12 possessions and holding the Wildcats without a field goal during the final 2+ minutes while winning their fourth straight.

Butler, the tournament MVP who has led the Bears in scoring in five of six games, hit 3s on back-to-back possessions early in that stretch, the first of which put them up 67-66 with just under 6 minutes left and the second breaking a 67-all tie.

Collin Gillespie scored 27 points, Saddiq Bey finished with 16 points and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Villanova.

No. 9 KENTUCKY 81, LAMAR 56

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Tyrese Maxey scored 21 points and Kentucky made a season-high 10 3-pointers.

Maxey made a career-high four 3-pointers against, surpassing three he made in the Wildcats' opening victory over Michigan State.

Ashton Hagans added 15 points for Kentucky (5-1). Immanuel Quickley had 11, and Nick Richards added 10 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks. Davion Buster led Lamar (4-2) with 19 points.

The Wildcats raced to a 15-0 lead and closed the first half with a 22-2 run.

No. 12 TEXAS TECH 96, LONG ISLAND-BROOKLYN 66

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Freshman Jahmi'us Ramsey scored a career-high 27 points, and Texas Tech pulled away after trailing by a point at halftime in a victory over Long Island-Brooklyn.

Ramsey was 5 of 6 from 3-point range and grabbed six rebounds in the third-highest scoring game for a freshman at Texas Tech (5-0).

The Red Raiders trailed 42-41 at halftime. The Sharks (1-5) turned it over on their first four possessions of the second half and Davide Moretti put Texas Tech in front for good with a bucket on his way to 12 points.

Raiquan Clark scored 18 points for Long Island but was limited after committing his fourth foul early in the second half. The Red Raiders outscored the Sharks 55-24 after halftime.

No. 14 ARIZONA 104, LONG BEACH STATE 67

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Nico Mannion scored 22 points, Zeke Nnaji added 21 and Arizona pulled away in the second half to beat Long Beach State.

Arizona (6-0) struggled in the first half for a second straight game, trailing 31-30 with less than three minutes remaining before rallying for a 38-33 halftime lead. Nnaji and Mannion both had 11 points before the break.

The Wildcats trailed at halftime just three nights prior on Thursday before laboring to a 71-64 win over South Dakota State. This game wouldn't be nearly as a close.

Arizona hit 13 of its first 16 shots in the second half, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range, to push the lead to 72-44 with ten minutes left and cruise to the win.

Michael Carter III led Long Beach State (2-4) with 11 points.

No. 15 UTAH STATE 68, NORTH TEXAS 59

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (AP) - Alphonso Anderson scored 10 of his 19 points down the stretch, Justin Bean had a double-double, and Utah State scored the final 11 points to beat North Texas to win the Montego Bay division of the Jamaica Classic.

Bean finished 14 points and 13 rebounds and Diogo Brito scored 15 points for Utah State (7-0).

Deng Geu threw down a two-handed dunk in traffic and the Umoja Gibson made a layup to give UNT (2-5) a 59-57 lead with 4:11 to play but the Mean Green did not score again. Bean tied it with a jumper 16 seconds later before Anderson added a short jumper and a layup to make it 63-59 with 1:37 remaining. North Texas missed its final seven shots.

The game featured 12 ties, with the score knotted for more than 10 minutes, and 17 lead changes. Neither team lead by for than five points until the closing seconds.

Gibson led North Texas with 19 points and Geu scored 18.

No. 23 COLORADO 56, WYOMING 41

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Tyler Bey had 11 points and 19 rebounds to lead Colorado past Wyoming.

Bey, who has 22 career double-doubles and 12 in his last 19 games, accomplished the feat for the third time in four games this season. D'Shawn Scwartz scored 12 points, while Evan Battey added nine points and 13 rebounds for Colorado.

Hunter Maldonado scored 14 points to lead Wyoming.

The Buffaloes (4-0) overcame a sluggish first half and used a 13-0 run over the first four minutes of the second half to open a 28-15 lead and seize momentum.

The Cowboys (3-4) got as close as four points, with 9:19 left in the game, but Colorado went on another run, outscoring Wyoming 13-1 over the next five minutes to put the game out of reach.

NO. 25 WASHINGTON 88, SAN DIEGO 69

SEATTLE (AP) - Isaiah Stewart had 25 points and seven rebounds, Jaden McDaniels scored 20 points and Washington beat San Diego.

The highly touted freshmen combined to score 10 points to start a game-clinching run early in the second half as Washington (5-1) won its third straight.
