Inside the Stats

Shockers struggle in MVC tourney
by Marc Lawrence

As we enter this weekend?s action, let?s take inside the stats at what?s happening on the College Hoops and NBA hardwood this season.
Note that all results are ATS (Against The Spread) in games played through Tuesday, March 4 unless noted otherwise.

Final Adieu

Last week we explored the best and worst college basketball teams spread records in their Last Home Games of the season. This week we probe deeper and look at these teams and how they fare when they take to the regular season road in the game immediately after having bid the seniors farewell.

For openers, these teams come up flat when playing away off a loss in their final home game. Worse, they get beat up with regularity in this role when facing a host playing its Last Home Game that is also off a loss, as they are just 77-111-3 ATS in this role since 2000.

From a team trends perspective, here are the very best and very worst performances by a team since 2000 when playing on the regular season road after ?senior night? in home finales:

Good
Iowa State 5-0
Mississippi 7-0
Tennessee 5-0

Bad
Marquette 0-5
Nebraska 1-10-1
Purdue 0-9

Surprise, Surprise

As the NBA nears the three-quarter pole, let?s take a look at the teams that have managed to pull off upsets with major alacrity this season.

The top three teams in the league, in terms of SU underdog wins, have been:
Charlotte (19)
Phoenix (18)
Washington (16)

The teams with the fewest SU underdog victories this campaign include:
Miami (2)
Golden State (3)
Indiana (3)

On the other side of the coin, teams that have laid the most eggs ? been upset as a favorite ? are:
Golden State (16)
Houston (13)
San Antonio (13)

Completing the study, these teams have the rug pulled out on them the fewest times as a favorite this season:
Philadelphia (1)
Milwaukee (3)
Utah (3)

Obviously the teams in both of the ?fewest? categories reside there for one simple matter ? they are seldom in the role. It?s the teams that lead the brigade on both sides of the ?most? ledger that warrant a strong look.

Listed below are the Top 5 college hoops teams on the defensive front, in Defensive Field Goal percentage and Rebound Margin. Look to 'play on' these teams in either revenge or underdog roles:

4. Raptors 97.1

RAS SERVICE...CLARIFICATION

RAS SERVICE...CLARIFICATION

Wild Bill, I think you are being a bit misleading regarding RAS.

Per their website..

February no picks

March 1-March 22..

12-15 -4.5 units not good, but I'm not sure horrible would be accurate

In January they were 21-15 +3.3 units

For the year...

93-72 + 14.05

While your work is greatly appreciated, of the services you list on a daily basis, NONE of them approach RAS'S long term record...NONE.

Root
Kelso
Larry Ness
Indian Cowboy
Stu Feiner
Lang
Tony George

Each and every one of these are LONG TERM LOSERS.

I don't want to hear about short term winning streaks...blah, blah blah

There in not one respected long term winner who also keeps an accurate record among the services you follow.

Just wanted to make that clear to all the readers of this thread.

Like I said, I respect the time and hard work you put in this thread, but it seems as if you have some sort of vendetta against Edward.

I have no vendetta Rcc against RAS and their computer guys. Never said that! Simply stated, they hit a spell where they slumped. We all slump!!

Glad you enjoy the selections I can find.

As per the services I post, Indian Cowboy for the season in Hoops is in the black (Sports Monitor, OKLA CITY) they consistently have been over the past 25 years. Not every service has a winning season, for me, if they had 22 winning seasons and 3 bad seasons, what was their total profit during their 25 years? That's how I measure success! Consistency!! In over 31 years doing this shit, I've had 7 losing seasons and 24 winning seasons. My best year posting picks, in the ol' AOL Message boards starting the end of 1996, I was up 164 units or in laymans terms + $16,400 after juice in MLB, College Foots/NFL, NCAABB/NBA! MY only year capping the NHL before posting in MJ Forum 2006, I was +109 units, but last year I hit a skid after the strike and made some back this year, but fell short of my goal. I start with 100 unit bankroll and if I'm -38 units for the season in that respected sport, I still have 62 units left of my bankroll. I only wager what I can afford and would advise others to do the same.

I respect RAS, they do well in college foots and college hoops and they've influenced some lines, but to be honest, we don't know if books moved the lines because of their picks, because I've seen lines move without RAS posting a play in either sport.

With that said, I'm through posting picks from other services/cappers, if ya'll want them, they can be found, just google free service plays and I'm sure you'll find the sites that post them.

Adios!!

For the record:

Maddux Sports is + in both CBB & NBA for 2013-2014.

Indian Cowboy's record: 46-38, ROR = .37, Net 4.2, Net profit +980, Top plays 11/10, Sides 44-37, totals 2/1.

You can find these records at the sports monitor. One of the only legit service monitors using the closing lines for determining wins/losses for all handicappers who pay to have their picks monitored.

Later!!

Couple things...

In his 12-11-213 video, IC states he has "been doing this for 12 years"

On Doc's website they say 15 years.

Also per Doc's website..

Past 3 years NBA...one losing season
Past 4 years College hoops...one losing season
Past 3 years College Foots..one losing season
Past 2 years Hockey..one losing season

Two more things....

1. You are in the minority if you think The Sports Monitor is legit

2. Why would any handicapper on earth share their selections with the public if they were a long term consistent winner? Wouldn't they simply choose to the live in the location of their choice and live happily ever after off their profits.
