Very condescending Dan. Paying a ransom is ALWAYS wrong, for many reasons, not least of all that the money winds up in the hands of people trying to kill our servicemen and women.

The woman "journalist" is a communist openly hostile to the US. Obviously there was some confusion at the roadblock, no-one who wasn't there can be sure of what happend, but we can be sure that if the US had fired at her deliberately she would be dead.

Paying ransom demands cannot be defended under any circumstances. This is why US and Brits are not being kidnapped now, because they know that no ransom will be paid.
