Ians football team against the field this week are

BEEM 150
CHAMBLEE 150
FRANCO 66
FRAZAR 80/100
FUNK 80
HART 66
LOWERY 80
MARUYAMA 50
McCARRON 33
PERRY 80
WALDORF 100

If I was going to have a sub it would have to be Ames
Unfotunately most of these will be at unbackable prices - but have taken the Beem at 200/1 at Sporting Odds again - does anyone really know what happened last week?
Stan - didn't back Calc last week but thanks for the sympathy ;)

so what price is acceptable for say
a. mickelson
b. els

ive got to say that if offered 20/1 about either they would be on my team

surely the players you are interested in backing must be determined by price

I always come up with a shortlist after my homework and then I discount all those I expect to be under 20/1 as they are rarely value...obviously this week that meant Els, Mick and Toms.

I then rank them regardless of price and after collating the odds make my choice..usually have a list of ten and back two or three properly, and then a couple of savers.

I also try to identify a player who will shorten in price, and back him at the biggest odds available and then lay him to bettingmad on the 121 sites!

Will take flyer on an E/W @ 365 for 1 unit total to start and defer place wagers at cut.
Hoch 50/1
Don't care if he does have problems with sight.I believe finshing no lower than 12th here in last 5 warrants a little cheese @ these odds unless he is accompanied by seeing eye dog instead of caddie this week.

Howell 33/1, He was 7th last year and this course should suit big-hitters like him.
Franco 50/1, two-time winner of this event who has started to show signs of form.
Kenny Perry 66/1, plays a long ball and has solid GIR stats. 40/1 in most places but Ladbrokes go 66/1.

Have actually added prices to the list of players above where I would have a bet - so if anyone actually sees any PLEASE let me know :)
BobbyW - in answer to your question - I would then back each of them e/w to win a certain amount of money - so the stake will vary
As I have now found McCarron at 33/1 Bluesquare I have added him

Going in again on Franco at 66/1 over at Sports.com.
I wasn't going to do any more but Chris Smith is overpriced at 125/1, he's as low as 50/1 in places. He was 18 under par for the last three rounds when he finished 5th last year.

Cannot get much inspiration this week...Ian is right about Sports.com though
0.5 ew Frazar (100/1 1/4 1st 5! well done Sports for the extra place, missed the 125)
0.5 ew Peoples (125/1 Sports.com)

Boy do I hate Hoch. I'm not sure what it is but there's something about the guy that makes me cringe.

Anyways my plays are as follows:
Mickelson 6-1 for 5 units
Toms 15-1 e/w for 2 units
Stankowski 75-1 e/w for 1 unit

Clive,
I thought it was me that laid your bets.....
I was only a layer last week Furyk/McCarron though could have got 20 Rocco in-running but dug my heels in (drat)... and the week before my cash there was on Leonard, so hope it was you that laid that... as you can afford!

Apart from betfair are you using any other p2p for golf? I looked at betdaq but all the prices were worse for betting or laying.

As well as tips for player s to do well.... perhaps forum members should also post players fancied to do poorly and why... I think it was steved who last week pointed out that Furyk was 167 in putting.... that tickled my fancy and made me a few quid

Myron I have made some decent money on him and you usually get great odds because of most peoples dislike of him.But he is truely one of the Rodney dangerfield of golf as proved by his odds here.As a player I do not care for him either and not for the "missed putt" but for an event that happened 2 years I won't forget. It was Sunday 18th hole.He was in the rough in 1 on par 5 surrounded by water, needed a eagle to get in playoff however there were 3 in clubhouse tied with him and birdie would give him sole 2nd but bogie would drop him to 5th.Granted the lie was not great and he stood there with 3 iron in hand staring at leader board for what seemed an eternity, put 3iron back pitched out knowing he would have no chance to win. After that event I tab his stats with a "G" for gutless and there it remains.

Like last week another 2 events where it is a struggle to find a bet - particularly at an attractive price. Hopefully this time the half-hearted selections will not both miss the cut!

Jeff Sluman 66/1 1EW Sporting Odds
Not a player I support a lot but I did catch him right when he won the BC Open last year. He seems to wallow in mediocrity for the largest part of the season but has short bursts of good form. He finished 23rd in the Masters and 10th last week.... on the basis that he also finished 10th the week before last years BC Open win... perhaps this is his time this season... so I will give him a try as he was also a reasonable 11th here last year.

Strange... I think this is one of the best betting events of the year so far and have decided to up my stakes considerably this week...obviously heading for a fall!!

Howell 33
Ames 40
Franco 50

are the ones for me...still think Ames could be a top player, Franco has improved since his awful start to the season and now the hype has died down a little, Howell may step up a gear. Interestingly there is plenty 37 and 38/1 available on Howell on Betfair.

Golf-dog?

Golf-dog?

Maybe the seeing eye dog can swing the clubs? :)

HOCH'S GONE: Former New Orleans champion Scott Hoch (1982) withdrew from the tournament Monday. Hoch also withdrew from last week's Greater Greensboro Classic because of vision problems. That opened a spot in this week's field for alternate Eduardo Herrera.

;)

don't forget that if not for that missed 12 inch putt at augusta several years ago it would be "former masters champion" scott hoch. he was "scott choke" for quite awhile after that though he has been a money player lately until the vision deal.
