Not trying to take away from what Clark has done, but they are literally comparing apples to oranges here. She played four years, he played three. She has a three point shot--he did not. And not to sound sexist, but men's records are men's records and women's records are women's records. Unless and until they play each other of course.

She’s incredible and I have only watched highlights until Sundays game vs Ohio state (I’m an ohio state fan**) but the game was fully manufactured and orchestrated for not only for her to break the record but also for Iowa to win.

Multiple weird technical fouls leading to 5 point plays and also her breaking the record on one of them right before half time??? Really ruined the moment for her also.

On top of that she pushed Jacy Sheldon and flexed in her face. In a normal case I love that sort of stuff, but not after two very soft and poor timed technical foul calls.

A week or two ago, Gus Johnson called her the greatest college basketball player ever. His partner was clearly surprised and gave him a chance to modify his statement. Maybe to best "female" college basketball player. But, no, Gus doubled down and insisted she is the greatest ever. Now, I used to enjoy Gus calling a college basketball game. But, fuck, Clark would be riding the pines in a men's MAAC game.

It’s ridiculous, I heard someone argue for a spot for her in the NBA. I argued if she was really good enough they’d allow her in.

On the course!
It makes for good conversation, I guess......

Like when someone claims a National Champion football team could beat an NFL team.

definite congratulations are in order for her achievements and (it sure seems to be real) 'teamwork' attitude!
also agree it's a maajor apples to oranges comparison..
the largest difference being the existence of 3pt shot (of which she took 17 y-day).
It's safe to say she shoots at least 15-20 3ptrs/gm... and probably makes 5-10 per gm..
Pete Maravich may've been the best "regular-sized" player ever offensively.
he could dribble, pass and shoot with either hand!

1 more huuuge difference I never see mentioned, is the actual size of the women's basketball compared to the men's ball.
in case you didn't know, it's smaller and lighter, easier to grip (palm it like Connie Hawkins), and muuch easier to shoot from distance..
and most importantly, more room for it to go thru the hoop!

she's a tough young lady and a fantastic shooter, and a smart basketball player!
and to accomplish all she's done in the college game is truly an exceptional achievement! she definitely stands out!
however, I don't think there's ANY way she could compete vs men..
against HS boys, she'd have to stay way out on the perimeter, and probably have success (if she had the smaller ball)

she's tireless, quick, fairly fast..
in college, don't you think there's at least a couple of guys like that on every men's team that could stay with her?

Even at 6 ft tall, she'd get physically overwhelmed against a good HS boys player..
Good boy players are much stronger, usually quicker and faster and jump much higher.. mucho!
a lot of the girl/women players are plodders.. slow footed.. not very quick.. so Caitlan really looks fast against them.

The great majority of women players get very little elevation at all on their layups, rebounds, etc
Caitlan wouldn't get buckets around the rim vs college young men..

so I'm not trying to lessen her accomplishments.. to shoot like she does (esp from so far out) is incredible to watch and fun!
and she's done it better than any gal ever before.. great for her!

but for ESPN Gus to say she's the best college player ever is just foolish.

Whether Gus believes it or not, congrats - mission accomplished since it gets people talking. Think people like Stephen A, McAfee, etc. I love Gus' energy on broadcasts but this won't make me think any more or less of him.
As for her ability to see the floor or compete against a good high player or team - what's everyone's definition of good? She'd struggle in the Burger Boy game but still be one of the best pure shooters. If her job in a boy's game is to just jack 3's, she'll do fine (I don't think some of you realize how bad some kids are in hs).
