I don't think many in our country think that the terrorists behavior in beheadings is less reprehensible than a handful of soldiers treatment of captives. Of course, the beauty of our country is that we can (some of us, anyway) look at these behaviors objectively and still know that some things are wrong based on what this country stands for. Quite simply, we are not like them, and that is a good thing. It's why - or at least it used to be in some cases - why we are a beacon and a standard for non-manical people to look up to.

Of course, if we weren't currently stationed in Iraq, I don't think many of the captives would be getting beheaded in Iraq. You do the math.

No one ever condoned the beheadings. What was printed in the American papers was news to Americans. Not knews to Muslims. If there is nothing wrong with it then why did heroes, Bush and Rumsfeld say the actions were disgraceful? You can't blame a newspaper for printing the news. I wonder how many front page stories of Clinton's bj you complained about?

Here is "my math" on searches of 1st 3 countries I ran-- does "the math" change your "opinion" ?

JAKARTA, Indonesia ? Unidentified assailants attacked a group of high school girls on Saturday in Indonesia's tense province of Central Sulawesi, (search) beheading three and seriously wounding a fourth, police said.

The kidnappings on Tumahubong town on Basilan island, which happened on March 20, 2000, led to two hostages being beheaded a fortnight later on Wednesday 19 April. The group claimed they had decapitated the two victims with a sword as a "birthday present" for the then president, Joseph Estrada, who was 63 on that day.

An army assault on their base on Basilan on May 03 led to the release of 15 of the hostages, thirteen children and two adults. Unfortunately, four more hostages were discovered dead during the rescue operation. Five of the freed hostages, including the two adults, were injured in the mission.

Three days later, the headless bodies of two of the captured teachers were discovered. Their hands had been tied behind their backs, and they had been buried in a shallow grave in the compound at Basilan.

The beheading of a Buddhist village leader in Thailand's Muslim-dominated south has provoked worry across Southeast Asia.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Doesn't make any diff which country you search that has substantial Muslim population--you will find inhumane killings of civilians.

I can not for the life of me comprehend how so many intelligent people believe this admin is responsible for everything from Muslim extremist to hurricanes

I don't blame this admin for those things, but it's pretty damn baffling when people on one hand say that muslims are hopeless and there will never be peace in the Middle East, and then turn around and defend our arrogance in thinking that we can change the Middle East by destroying, occupying and rebuilding Iraq. Makes no sense.

with all respect dogs, I don't think intelligent people believe administration is responsible for Muslims and hurricanes, its HOW, OR LACK OF HOW, they are dealing with these matters. Most intelligent people now agree Iraq is a mess, and most intelligent people, whose family isn't in the oil business agree, we should start investing more in alternatives energy.

Show me one person who even once blamed Bush, in one post, for a hurricane. Your argument is, as usual, insane. His reaction to a hurricane, yes he was blamed for, as he should be. He was never blamed for Muslim Extremist either. His stupid Occupation of Iraq yes, he is blamed for as he should be. You right wingers love to twist the truth.

Admittedly, my post was a little unclear about what I meant. I meant individuals who are in Iraq because of the war in Iraq...not any beheading anywhere at any time. I guess that wasn't clear, I can see how it might not be.

And, I would submit to you that many of the "beheaders" in Iraq are there solely because we are. They have stated such, and it would only stand to reason - no matter what press report you choose to highlight.
