This is a reality show.
You can't just write in a russian sub.
The writers brains were already hurting from the week before with the deckhand swap.

They had a quick shot of this guy in tonight's episode as they glossed over all the green horns the Wizard has churned through in recent seasons.

And I have to say, these guys are all nuts, going on top of the pots when they are all full of ice is just crazy:scared
One tough job, no question about that. Oh and made worse when you have a captain like Sig. His own brother has a bulging disk in is back and his right shoulder is fucked, yet Sig don't give a shit. Now that is one tough Captain. Sig seems like a good guy, but I think being on his boat would be the worst. Sure he brings in the bucks, but working 29 hours straight with no rest would just fucking suck.
Of course Sig would most likely just throw me over-board after 12 hours, I would not cut it on the Northwestern that's for sure:142smilie
When was the last time Sig said anything positive to his crew:shrug:

agree with what you say about Sig being a hard ass. However, it is obvious he knows how to fish and bring in the $ for his crew (the recent blue crab jaunt aside). It would definitely be tough but if I was in that line of work and had to pick one of the boats to be on, I would pick either Sig's or the Hillstrand's boat. I remember the first season where they didn't have the quoata's and could catch as much as they wanted during the season. The Northwestern caught so much they built a makeshift 'pen' on the deck out of crab pots and ran water over a pile of crab on deck as they raced into off load.

You have to feel bad for the Greenhorn Jeremy on the Time Bandit. I mean you can talk all tough and shit, but what is the guy supposed to do when you are that sick:shrug: If you have extreme nausea it sucks, to ask a guy to just "suck it up" is a little unfair. I mean give the guy 48 hours. I just love how the other guys on the crew say "this is where we separate the boys from the girls". Gimmie a break, they were all in that position before so stop acting so tough for the camera. Also, blame the brothers for hiring him, if you hire someone that is "making their first trip" to the Beiring Sea then you have to expect that. I mean it looks like the kid feels bad and wants to get out on deck, but what do you want him to do:shrug:
On the other hand if he were on the Northwestern Sig would chuck him overboard:0039
And speaking of Sig....he's super tough and all, but do ya think maybe for one second you can show a little compassion when one of his deckhands stabs himself. A knife full of fish-guts just missing your wrist is a tad scary:scared Yes I know Sig brings in the bucks and seems like a nice guy off the boat, but working on the Northwestern would suck.
Oh and nice job counting on the Kodiak....just throwing away:0071 One dumb crew.
Bottom line if you can get through the horrific physical shit, and keep your mouth shut you are a stud. So many of these guys on these boats can't do both. That being said, huge props to all of em, one tough job:scared

You have to be "not right in the head" to work on the Northwestern that's for sure. I mean Sig is outta control. Yes he brings in the money, but you'd have to pay me half a million to be on his boat. Off the boat he seems like a good guy. But holy fuck, show a tiny bit of compassion, I mean a little.....just a little:shrug:
