Rove and the Corporate Press have set the bar so low for Palin that if she knows her own name it will be considered a victory. Yes DJV I am afraid this one is in the bag.

I will be incredibly surprised if Palin comes off looking anything remotely like a person anyone with a fair mind would want as President of the United States. Or even Vice-President, maybe more to the point. It would be an incredible fake out, to be sure, but I'm expecting a cross between Tina Fey, Admiral Stockdale and Dan Quayle tonight. Which should be entertaining, if nothing else.

I think there will be some very strong political ads from the democratic party starring "Pales" starting tomorrow.

I'll gladly give her a chance tonight. I'm only going off of what I have seen, personally, on camera in question and answer sessions and she has looked like a deer in headlights. Extremely poor so far, except for her rehearsed pre-produced speech at the convention.

I'm not labeling her, I'm saying what I expect from her, from what I have personally witnessed - which aligns perfectly with her past "experience."

We'll see tonight - you certainly need at least a non-embarrassing performance from her to stem the tide, which apparently is headed back Obama's way over the past couple of weeks. Which should have been expected after the convention, IMO.

I'm pretty comfortable looking at Biden's credentials and experience, and his grasp on issues. No doubt he speaks off the cuff in many situations, and isn't always a rehearsed soundbite, but I certainly don't consider him dumb. We've all said some pretty dumb things from time to time, especially when taken out of context, and he's no different.

I guess if you want to try to bring him down to her level somehow, I can see that, it's worth a shot. And if she can outdebate him tonight and show us all her wide-ranging intelligence and speak to specifics and show her command of issues, so be it.

Dan Quayle wasn't really a dumb guy, from what I know. He just couldn't express himself at all. George Bush? Open for debate, but certainly does not come off as being smart. And Palin has been ridiculously simple in attempting to answer questions thus far. She is probably fairly smart in a lot of ways, but I wouldn't expect her to be versed in everything she's been asked - and will be asked. Therein lies the rub for me. I think Biden is pretty well versed in most things he'll be asked.

She should do better than previously with her debate camp this week, so that will help her.

Nosigar, just wondering in your analogy about dumb people voting for a dumb Biden...did you happen to vote for George Bush twice? Most don't admit that these days, but maybe you might be entering the black pot kettle zone, if so.

Any conservatives or anyone at all receive any promo or political e-mails asking you to watch the debate tonight? Seems Obama, Biden and their handlers feel pretty strongly who will come out as looking dumb between the two of them, with this e-mail (which I cut and clipped together to give you the idea):

---------------
Friend --

Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, we'll hear from the two candidates for vice president.

My running mate Joe Biden and the Republican nominee, Governor Sarah Palin, need to be ready to step in as president at a moment's notice, and this is the only time they'll appear side-by-side before Election Day.

This debate is also extremely important because early voting began this week in eight states -- including the crucial battleground state of Ohio.

Early voting will play a bigger role this year than ever before.

And after tonight's debate, voters will be motivated to cast their ballots for the change this country needs.

Joe Biden and I share a vision for the future of this country, and it's very different from the vision of our opponents.

I'm sure you'll see that contrast in tonight's debate.
---------------------

Maybe John and company are excited after Sarah's boot camp - maybe they are asking folks to watch, I don't know. Clearly, Biden and company aren't concerned about him being ranked the same as she will tonight on the "dumb meter." I guess some here think otherwise...maybe they'll get a similar e-mail asking them to watch their girl. Somehow, I doubt it.

the format favors Palin. she won't get grilled by the moderator because the republican machine leaked "the moderator is biased" rumor to the press two days ago. since the moderator is black she cannot appear at all in favor of the democrats. plus biden doesn't get to question Palin. she remains a vpilf.

Eddie you do understand that if Obama wins the election it will help her book sales. The lady didnt even mention to the debate committee that she was writing the book. :mj07: Please don't say Obama is not important to the lady, theres a reason she is releasing the book on election day

That being said I am worried for the GOP party, this Palin can't give a concrete answer and froze up badly during those last 2 interviews

DT:

I thought there was full disclosure to everyone about the book well in advance of the debates and the leak was just typical posturing. Regardless, didn't think she showed a bit of bias coupled with the fact I don't think that even if she slanted questions like say a Sean Hannity would, that it would make a difference. People probably would have noticed and turned against the moderator (press).

I agree she didn't give concrete answers and to me sounded pretty rehearsed and scripted. But all in all did a better job than I thought she would have done. She certainly didn't blow it and I thought that if anything was going to happen last night, she was going to make a Couric type error.

I still can't imagine here in the White House making policy decision on North Korea. Sorry, democrat or republican, she ain't qualified.

This so called book was about black leaders but somehow the neocons of the world spun it to be about Obama. The neocons didn't mention the book also has stuff about JC Watts, Colin Powell, Alan Keys, or Clarence Thomas. Strange how they forgot about the other black leaders in the book and just focused on Obama:shrug:

You might want to ask her publishers. I doubt if she came up with that idea. As a matter of fact i could have swore she was eating something during the debate. Like a piece of candy or something. Could be wrong but i thought at one point i notice this lol.
