After reviewing in more detail, it appears that though it may be inexpensive hotels, flights, days spent adjusting, and the experiences we are seeking would be best placed at other destinations at the current time of my life.

I do appreciate the responses and now understand what Saint was saying but overall that many days just to fly in and get adjusted is more than I can take and still enjoy vacations the remainder of the year.

Caribbean pirate, new islands to explore.

Thanks everyone. Great stories!

Wisconsin and Dorado Puerto Rico
Will do. Thanks.

I would suggest Puerto Rico been going there last 3 winters for 3 and 4 months Antigua Aruba are ok St Maarten and Guadaloupe {French} i like d a lot also . Puerto Rico is kind of like what the US will become over the next generation Hispanic. The people are about the friendliest i have ever met. First year i was there ..3 days into my stay my Landlords son invites me over for X Mas with his family...where else in the world does any one do that. and Casinos all over the island and at $2000 to $3000 buy ins and $50 action got a $ 100 meal comp when ever i asked for it. In Vegas that won't get you a $1 hot dog. The beaches are all public all over the island . The is no such thing as a private beach. $20 Red Snapper all along the ocean from Isla Verde east $2 chicken or other stuff on a stick...93 cent Medalias {PR Beer}. What i miss is Real Italian Pizza Brawurst and all the ethnic food avail in the Midwest You better like Pork and Chicken To me it blows las vegas out of the water for gambling. The weather and beaches have put winters in Vegas out of the running for forever...

I went to Thailand for Christmas 2010 for 17 days. My wife and I went all over the country. We had a guide that chauffeured us around. It was supposed to be a safari type trip where we went on a lot of hikes to see endangered animals. We soon discovered that the Thais eat most of there animals, protect none of them and there aren't many left. For 3 days we stayed in a floating 10x10 hut made of bamboo. It was quite the experience. When I had to piss at night I pulled up the bamboo window because I was too freaking scared I would walk off the walkway. The walkway wasn't lit and had no rails. The floor sank a foot with every step I took and I was just waiting to fall through it. On 3 of the hikes I got bloodsuckers all over my feet. The bloodsuckers live in dry dirt in Thailand so you can encounter them in many places. Saw some sights in Bangkok but we weren't overly thrilled seeing temples and a reclining Buddha. The massages are good and are incredibly cheap, maybe $8 an hour or so. The food is good and the food and drinks are very cheap. However, I don't know how we would have made it without a guide as nobody there speaks English. My wife booked us a room sleeping 200 feet up in a tree without telling me for one part of the trip. The only way to get to your room was by zip line. Fuck that, when I found out I changed the reservations. The flight was 24 hours long and it took me 3 days to get used to the time difference. We spent a lot on this trip and frankly, I was pretty disappointed with it. If you are two single guys going, you will for sure have a much different experience than we did as I'm sure you'll be experiencing the nightlife in Bangkok. Save some money and come party down here at Jaco beach and experience hotel Cocal instead!

On a side not, some of my buddies took a guy's trip to Bangkok a couple of years ago. My buddy Brian picked up a girl in a bar and took her to his room. According to Brian, he started sucking on her tits (only) then stopped to use the bathroom. He came out and found the girl had stolen his laptop and took off. He went to the police and described the girl and made a police report. The cops said of, yeah, I know that guy, we have a problem with him all the time. Oops on Brian, he had mistakenly got a little action from a ladyboy. LOL

good job, I enjoy reading your travel diaries. :0074
