I was 12. My mom had sent me to the meat market to get a bag of burgers and some buns. It was two blocks from our house. I pushed the button to change the light so I could cross back over main street and was waiting. The light changed and I started across the street and a man who had the green light pulled out from the side street to turn left (I was on his right). Next thing I knew a woman ran the red light and t-boned his car and shit was flying every where. I ran back to the curb and stood there and watched it all in slow motion. When it was all over his car ended up across the street on the sidewalk and her car stopped right where I had been standing in the crosswalk. Scared the shit out of me and I had no clue what to do. So I waited til it was clear and crossed the street and ran all the way home crying. When I got home I told my mom what I saw and she called the police- which made me cry more because they said they were coming to the house to talk to me and I thought I was going to get arrested. They took me back down to the corner and we went over what I saw. It ended up in court and she was charged with multiple offenses and lost her license and had to pay a ton of fines. To this day when I stand there waiting for the light to change I can see it all happen just like it was yesterday. Gives me chills.

Not backing any racists now or ever. I don't care how scrapman or you or anyone else feels about people of other cultures or races. I am not a racist, I have two color televisions. I don't try to fool myself into thinking that racists are somehow gone now nor do I feel impelled to point out that someone was raised with differing views than myself. I do find it a bit sad when some people feel as if they need to point out even the slightest indication of any term, thought, acronym, synonym, or anything else that may be even remotely considered racist and make a big deal about it in order to portray themselves as holding to some higher standard.
I guess my question is which is better for society, singling out individuals by race, religion, or belief? It is obvious that you choose to be singled out by belief, so how is that better than being singled out by race?
My guess it that scrapman as well as several others on this website were raised in different times and sometimes, old habits die hard. I just don't feel the need to point out others oversights and or shortcomings, I mean come on Portis, you have seen this guy's videos right? You have read his previous posts yes? Would it really surprise you to learn that he drops the "N" word now and again? Will his indiscretion lead to a war of the races? So who gives a fuck? How many times have you corrected Katt Williams on his Twitter page? Or Jay-Z, Kanye, TI, and millions of others, black or white, that use the same term without consequence damn near hourly?

He is who he is, I am not going to change him now, so rather than point my finger and classify him as "bad", I remind myself that racism is all around us, alive and well. It is unforgiving and relentless. The thing is, for that to be true, then the contrary must be true also and that the true beauty of equality, charity, and goodwill is everywhere also, but it usually happens when nobody is looking for it.

No I don't approve of that post. I agree with your post. I also think that some posters and people pay more attention to what others are doing. Present company excluded, some on here apparently think that their own persona and popularity is raised on the necks of others. In my opinion there is racism of many different origins and one borne of ignorance is no better than the next, however, pointing out others ignorance doesn't excuse my own. That is really all it is. I agree with you in that you shouldn't have to read it and although I personally just dismiss it, I suppose I can't really blame anyone for not wanting to. Carry on brother.

It is debatable as to whether or not this qualifies as interesting. Due to the number of on point responses, I will allow this one to stand.

In all fairness, Porty and I had a decent conversation, made our points, and now have moved on. No problem. I don't think anything was ruined. As far as interesting topics go, I believe that interest in either is debatable at best. I do like the responses though and I am moving my point back to center slowly, but leave? Never.

Once when I was a young teenager I had ended up in the wrong part of town. Got ruffed up by a few people of the opposite skin color of my own and told that honkeys like me shouldn't be in their city. I shoved him back and called him a ni**er (** used to prevent FDC and airporitis from exploding).
So I called him that, and he got really upset by it and whipped out his pistol and shoved it in my face and screaming at me about calling him that.

I said - Dude, it's totally cool, i have a friend that is black.
He put down his gun and we hugged it out and went on our way peacefully.
