"disturbing" films

I love a good psych thriller (slasher films are boring) and have seen my share, be it In Cold Blood or Repulsion or The Exorcist or even Hostel or The Silence of the Lambs, which some might call "disturbing."

I'm looking for some new experiences, in this regard, so maybe somebody can mention a decent flic that I've missed, so far. The supernatural stuff doesn't really do it for me--say, Satan coming to Earth and bringing whatever chaos...I prefer more of the real-world crime stuff and what-have-you (I can put up with Stephen King but even there he works best in something like Misery, which doesn't need the major suspension of disbelief).

On those notes, I can mention that I saw a pretty brutal film a couple of days back--brutal in the sense of being "distrubing." I was looking for Wes Craven's first flic, the 1972 version of The Last House on the Left, but discovered that there was a 2009 remake so I watched that instead. Pretty raunchy...not too bad but rather unsettling, at times. Worth seeing, certainly, if you like twisted shit as I often do. Haven't seen the original, yet, but scored it just the same.

Will leave it at that.
Disturb me, if you will.

I scored me Edmond and The Experiment. Both sounded pretty cool so gonna give a go. Gonna watch the Macey flic first as more in the mood for that. Heard or read about that prison experiment somewhere or sometime in the past so I sorta know what to expect there.

Seen Cube (so-so...Cube 2 was a waste) and Event Horizon. That Human Centipede shit was disturbing just watching the trailer and reading the write-up at allmovie.corn...might check it out when in the mood for something totally twisted; there's a part 2, as well, so I'll need to set aside a good 4 hours of future twistage.

I'll look into the rest futurewise.
Thanks for the words.
Will add what I can, too, as whatevas comes to mind.

Everybody's probably seen Hannibal (save a few weirdos I know...Shrek...right... ) but certainly a good one if you haven't. Love the chef routine near the end...reminds me of a story I heard about what they (allegedly) used to do to prisoners in Fiji, some who-knows-how-long-ago.
Really fucked up.

Blanking, myself, on a number of good ones.
And also seen a ton. I think I've seen every Oscar Best flic from mid-30's (say, It Happened One Night) to a few years back.
Prefer the twisted stuff, myself. Something surprising or unexpected or that makes you really think.

A couple that I'd stay away from popped into mind:
David Cronenberg's 1st couple of flics (one's called Crimes of the Future) are totally boring (like most of his films, actually) and way overrated.
Another supposed "cult classic," David Lynch's Eraserhead was pretty devoid of merit; slightly better than the Cronenberg flics but not saying much there.

I want to get into that Edmond thing but I've got the Jays, presently (they winning?) and Stamps in half-a-cower.

funk it...the bets don't need my undivided attention

Going to at least look into, if not watch, the recommendations. Been on a real movie surge, lately.
Saw Edmond. Pretty good, but it started much better than it finished, I thought...seem to find that with many flics I'm catching, lately.
Saw 3 yesterday: Reservoir Dogs (again)...very good flic. Also 2 Mamet flics in House of Games and The Spanish Prisoner (again). I really like the latter--amazing to see Steve Martin in a serious role.
Saw Arlington Road a couple of days back. Tim Robbins and what's-his-face...wasn't bad but wasn't great, IMO.

Might catch The Experiment sometime today. Only one left I've scored though that could be remedied.
