does anyone else have real hdtv

Ohh, this thread was about TV's!

I just looked at them this weekend. Close on my House (Not new, it wsa slightly used) later this month, and I was looking to get these things accomplished:

1) Stereo system hooked up throughout the house with volume control on a diall in the family room, office, amusement room, garage, and a couple of outside speakers for pointing towards the back of the house?

Let me know if you have done this and if it is worth it? How intrusive is the installation>

2) Heard some things about the Plasma TV's similiar to what Jack said, and then that HDTV will not only be the "thing" of the future. Apparently some newer technology is coming out? Don't know when, but I imageine prices will be astronomical again. SO maybe HDTV is the way...let me know.

3) CUrrenly also looking at Front End loading Washing Machine and Matching Drying Machine. They look great, have a superior wash, saves energy and money (although upfront cost is expensive) but I am curious if anyone is familiar with the LG brand made in Korea. Is Samsung the paretn compnay of this manufacturer? CUrious as they have a great sale, and the best features?

A lot of stuff, would love to hear some opinions?

I have had a a 50" Mitsubishi, cable ready and the HD box etc for a long time and finally Direct is broadcasting in HD. But,,,,,,,they charge you extra if you want HD. I would love a plasma, but as Jack said, life is short for them. Eric, Lee and I will be at Sunset Station Nov 6 till Nov 9. Maybe we can get together for a drink (soda)dance1 dance1

it is worth the $$ purchasing a HD box....
I do notice a big difference between a HDTV with the HD box and one without as I have one hooked up and the other tv has no HD box. The picture is much clearer and crisper...

you get them servied every 6 months they come in and do all this shit with some funny box and they willlast a long time , the system took about 8 hours with 5 guys in the house they have to go through the attic and run the fiber stff and have to messure every thing out befor the cut the wholes in you cealing it all has to be spaced right 3 speakers in the cealing behind the tv and 2 on back wall cealing they look just like a flat ac vent it takes sometime but it is woeth it but they have to be in a few different rooms and gets dusty but they cleaned it all up and was a perfect fit. for the room we used, each room is different depends on cealing and height but it is well worth it. the first plasmas would cook sometimes or get a gun out of joint or what ever they are and you would have like a rainbow on your screen but the new ones they service and will last as long as any other tv just make sure you have a good service tech and company i am covered for 8 years extened on everything.

Which one is clearer, the one with the box or without? I couldn't really tell from your post.

One of my TV's has integrated HDTV, so I don't need a box for that, but i'll need a special digital cable box, so was wondering if I should still get a hdtv box even though I don't need it.

2 of my others are only HDTV 'ready', so I know i'll have to get the hdtv box for those, but I was wondering about the other one.

Comcast is finally getting enough hdtv programming to where it makes sense to bother with it.

Kosar...my TV is HDTV ready so I I use comcasts set top digital cable box for hdtv..picture is amazing....you dont need a seperate box

But I thought that if your TV was 'only' HDTV 'ready' or HDTV 'capable', that you also had to have an HDTV box along with the cable box and that with the HDTV integrated, you didn't. Then again, I have no idea..lol

I have a tv that is HDTV ready, and I purchased a digital cable box. The other tv is HDTV ready as well, but without a digital box.

The box imho is well worth the $.

Better picture, cripser, and overall clarity...

yes if you have a hd ready tv then all you need is the digital hd box from comcast and you are all set

here it is if the tv say hdtv ready or built in box it will work but you won't get the crisp pitcyre that was my problem with the first 3 you will get stuff called blocking that is where some of the stuff in the background is not as clear and it is because the extra box a huges or soney hdtv box if you have dtv or a special dtv box from cable company if you have cable gives the pitcure the extra boost that you need to run all the pixiels, with out the extra box even if it say hdtv ready the best you can do is run it off of a thing called svideo and that will make it clear but nothing like having the booster box and i would never of knowen this till i had the person that set our whole system up tell me that, sears had no clue about the hdtv box they ran it trough s viedo which i don't know all this stuff just saying what my guy told me and it made the picture look better then it alrady did look by a good 20% in the sharpness, you need to have a hdtv converter box to get the best pitcure even if your tv has a built in box the built in bos does not pullenough power from the s viedo feed and you will get the blocking with the boxs you can get them from 299-599 might be cheaper now the come down just like the sets every month you will be able to get the truest and best pitcure it can put out it is like you are right there, but with out the box it is still a great picture but you will know the difference with the higher powered box. you would not think it could get any better but it does.
