I need to get a dog. I love dogs, and it's been long enough. I have had retrievers, a Weimerauner, and a Schnauzer.
My next dog will be living inside, and my wife has some dog dander allergy problems, so the dog will need to be one of the so-called hypo-allergenic breeds.
I want a mid sized to large dog also, but im not excluding small dogs. I have been around Poodles, and I know they are very smart, but I have never known any Standard Poodles (not sure if their demeanor and intelligence is on par with The little poodles).
Also, I have never had a female dog nor a male dog who was castrated. I'm completely disinterested in breeding my dog, but with that said, are there any drawbacks to having either sex fixed (I'm talking about demeanor/personality).
Speak about Owning females vs males.
Lastly, I don't want to spend a lot of money, and I'm not opposed to buying an adult dog/I don't have to have a puppy. My parents also currently have a rescue dog (vet thinks it is a Griffon). I love her of course, but she's stupid, gets scared easily, and obviously led a hard life before she came to them.
Thanks for any and all serious insight.
PS Is buying a dog sight unseen and having it flown to me a horrible idea, or is this practice standard and safe with reputable breeders?
