SixFive,

I had never had a dog in house...was against that but wife won out...got a Malti-poo from her co-worker.
Her mother will be delivering soon (around Christmas is expected)...don't know how soon you want one.

This little girl has won me over...doesn't shed and most obedient dog I have owned...will probably be black/white mix...ours weighs 8 lbs...if interested I am sure you can get my email from Jack and I could keep you updated as they come on earth.

But you have to teach them to say Roll Tide....lol

What breed is personal opinion. You're gonna hear about many different breeds and all of their dogs are the best. How's that gonna help you?

Having a dog flown to you is a horrendous idea. If you are buying a puppy from a breeder, you want to make sure you see both parents. See what the parents are like. There are a lot of puppy farms out there who just pump out puppies and take them away from mother far too early. These dogs can end up with serious issues.

I bought and flew in a puppy from a reputable breeder in Missouri. Worked out great for us. He's now 18 months and has been a wonderful addition to our family.

I have allergies also so we were told to get a cockapoo, preferably 2 years old female.

We got her from the Humane Society for $60 & she was with us for 11 years....& it was a match made in heaven!!

If the dog will stay inside most times I would suggest a smaller dog....

So, you want a dog but have always had an allergy attack whenever you've been around one -- you're not alone! According to the American College of Allergy,

Asthma, and Immunology, as much as 10% of the population in the U.S. is allergic to dogs. While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, there are a variety of breeds that do well with allergy sufferers. These dogs have a predictable, non-shedding coat which produces less dander. Dander, which is attached to pet hair, is what causes most pet allergies in humans.

There are also ways to prep your home that will help keep allergens at bay when you have a dog. Be sure to wash your pet's bed often, keep up with his grooming, and don't let him sleep on your bed. It's also helpful to remove heavy carpets and drapes that trap dander.

  • Maltese
Though small, the Maltese is known for being brave, playful, and fearless. They have long, silky white hair that needs to be brushed daily to prevent mats.

  • Miniature Schnauzer
The Miniature Schnauzer has a natural protective nature that makes it a great watchdog. The breed is smart and cheerful, and adapts well to different living environments. Their double coat requires clipping.

  • Peruvian Inca Orchid (Hairless)

The breed is loyal and protective of its family. They also have a great deal of energy, needing regular activity. They have minimal grooming needs.

  • Poodle
The Poodle comes in three size varieties -- Standard, Miniature, and Toy. The breed is exceptionally smart and active, needing daily exercise. Their trademark coat requires regular professional grooming.
