PESHAWAR: Of the 44 predator strikes carried out by US drones in the tribal areas of Pakistan over the past 12 months, only five were able to hit their actual targets, killing five key Al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders, but at the cost of over 700 innocent civilians.

According to the statistics compiled by Pakistani authorities, the Afghanistan-based US drones killed 708 people in 44 predator attacks targeting the tribal areas between January 1 and December 31, 2009.

For each Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorist killed by US drones, 140 innocent Pakistanis also had to die. Over 90 per cent of those killed in the deadly missile strikes were civilians, claim authorities.

I would say it is time for the civilians to take matters in their own hands and revolt against the terrorist.

My guess is that's easier said than done Stevie. What I find interesting is that the mainstream media reports when these drones take out Al Qaeda members but they say nothing of the "collateral damage". I know the drones save the lives of U.S. troops but I think it's also important to ask "At what cost?". The most effective way to save the lives of U.S. troops AND Afghan and Pakistani civilians would be to... leave.

My first concern is for the US. I agree, we should get out. What's more is we never should have put boots on the ground.

It seems pretty hypocritical to me for the U.S. to take the position that 700 Pakistani civilian lives are a fair trade for 5 Al Qaeda so we can feel like we're accomplishing something with these bullshit wars.

Since we've decided that only American lives matter, we might as well dust the 181 detainees at Gitmo too. I mean, why continue the charade that we give a shit about human rights?

Two to the head. Kill 'em all. Get it over with. And the beauty of it is, there's no collateral damage... 181 dead terrorists, zero civilian deaths.

Trench, we will never win over there until the people take care of the terrorists and the Taliban thenselves. We have the greatest weapons in the history of the world. Yes because of this theory that we cant hurt civiilans we are cripplled and forced to fight on their level. What do you have the weapons for if you won't use them. I say get out now because this is bullshit the way we are fighting.

In fact many are terrorists reported as civilians--

Terrorist only have one defense against drones--that being propaganda about civilian casualties in efforts to get orgs like Amnesty International--pinkies etc to do their bidding.

No question there are civilian casualties--however many could be averted if they told terrorist to get out of dodge.

Obama: Voters to decide who caused 'this mess'
(AP) ? 10 hours ago

WASHINGTON ? President Barack Obama acknowledges that the fall elections could amount to a referendum on his stewardship of the nation's affairs.

Obama tells NBC in an interview that "nobody in the White House is satisfied" with continuing high unemployment.

But he also says the midterm congressional elections could come down to "a choice between the policies that got us into this mess and my policies that got us out of this mess."

The president said in the interview he believes voters "are going to say the policies that got us into this mess, we can't go back to." He also said Washington "has spent an inordinate amount of time on politics ? who's up and who's down ? and not enough on what we're doing for the American people."
