I thought it was a weak move when he announced it. ..now i think it even more

Can't beat em, join em....just to ride to a championship

I think we got robbed of seeing a truly great 3rd edition of 2 teams that had epic competitions....

I won't consider Durant a deserving champ....this won't help his legacy in my opinion

Just my opinion but I wish he woulda stayed in OKC or went elsewhere....this ruined it for me...diesnt have the same excitement

I mean they have 4 all stars in their starting lineup now...dumb

Then take away all the championships the Lakers won, The Yankees won, The Red Sox won...Hell if you want to make that argument why not include the Cavs for stealing Korver mid season or maybe adding another previous superstar in Williams. That's sports....Always has been always will be.

Problem is now that the Cavs are slow compared to the Warriors and their bench is still garbage.

While its only one game and I expect a better fight in game 2. Cavs dont have the defense to stop the Warriors.

Also the Cavs coasted thru a HORRID east making them look a lot better than they are.

And the CAVS have 3 all stars...

OKC had one shot at making a juggernaut when they had Westbrook, Durant and Harden but in reality Durant was too great to stay in that small market.

Totally disagree. Why is it dumb? Durant is a helluva player and deserves a ring wherever he is. The bashing of the Warriors and the moves they make making them THAT good gets old. The chemistry on this team and how well they play together is what makes them the way they are not having 4 so called elite players. I actually think Curry and Durant are elite...Green and Clay are couple notches below

Respect your opinion addict just don't really agree here about Durant. Getting a ring is the ultimate goal you do what you gotta do

I "LOL'd" at comparing Korver and Deron Williams to Durant.

As far as Durant joining the Warriors, it's just the world we live in today. Where athletes define "compete" as actually just "they want to win." Because the media and people have put so much on winning championships. Competing is wanting to challenge yourself against teams that may be viewed on the same level as you or better. I'm a fan of players having control because they drive the business. But by giving players more control, this is what we have.

Competing is the Cavs trying to overcome what the Warriors have built. Durant just wanted a ring, and chose the easiest path. Whatever floats his boat. Who are we to tell another man how to pursue happiness?!

Chose the easieSt path? Maybe, but If you were a GREAT basketball player what style of basketball would you want to play? Durant is a baller and he's proving it NOW..He also LOVES PLAYING THE GAME OF BASKETBALL and I haven't seen a team play TEAM basketball as well as these WARRIORS WITH AS MUCH PASSION, STYLE, AND JOYFUL SPIRIT in EXECUTING since The Lakers Showtime or the Celtics of Bird-era or maybe even going back to the 69' Knicks....Spurs were a damn good team for the Duncan years too! But c'mon, KD loves playing with these guys, a true team, about winning and playing together (Obvious by their defense and the way they share the ball, as opposed to the style the Cavs play, but I have said since the finals are set, the ONLY shot the Cavs have at winning is if LeBron goes beast mode and tries to carry 85% of the load...his "team" is no match for this Warrior team, and even THE KING won't be able to overcome that...

Why are you only around when the Warriors win? Spewing all your expert opinion on the game and 0% on wagering. However when they lose, you fall off the face of earth, but blame that on "this is a handicapping forum"?

And yes, he chose the easy path. That's not an opinion, it is a fact. Disprove it. Durant will get his shiny ring, but he will never be in the same legendary status of MJ, LeBron, Kobe, Russell, Wilt, Bird and he accepted that when he made his decision.

Spin it however you want, but the Media and public perception will never give GS/Durant the respect they think they deserve, even if they win 5 in a row. Just as LeBron's 1 in Cleveland trumped his 2 in Miami. The GOAT conversation started because what he did in Cleveland. His Miami days didn't trigger that lol

Absolutely agree. Spot on. Let's make one thing very clear. Durant was not winning any championships with the Thunder. And please don't give me that crap that they almost beat the Warriors last year. Because if they had beaten them, they would have gotten crushed by the Cavs. They didn't have nearly enough to get by them.

Durant has every right to want to win a championship. He deserves one more than anyone. He tried for 11 years with the Thunder. Russ is a ball hog. Wasn't gonna happen.

Players are traded around like cattle. So Durant does a preemptive trade on his own and heads to one team in his career and everyone is on his nuts? Fuck that.

No one seems to get on Lebron for leaving Cleveland to play with two franchise all star players in Bosh and Wade and a cast of really good subs. Nor did they get on his nuts for leaving the Heat to play with, what? Two franchise all star players in Love and Irving. Or Shaq leaving Orlando. Or Barkley going to Houston looking for a ring. And on and on.

We'll see if he gets there. One down, 3 to go to get the ring....

I respect your opinion Addict on most things, but not this one.

LeBron went to Miami which was a bad team and built it from year 1

Then went back to shitty Cleveland and built it again

Durant came after the fact and chose to take the easy route to get a ring

That's all fine and I'm not saying he was right or wrong

I'm saying i think it's weak as he'll to do what he did when you are a superstar....

Again for getting a ring he was smart.....i think it's weak as hell.

I'm super competitive and for my preference I'd rather see a superstar be there from the jump

This was a 2 yr rivalry that would have had a 3 year chance to be epic...and he just hops on for the final ride.....just not impressive to me.....

And he blew a 3-1 lead vs this golden State team last year....he had a chance to win one by carrying a team....rather he folded up and they blew the lead....so he leaves to go join them...

Again hes gonna get his ring....i get that....i just think he took the weakest way to get there

Good for him...join the 73 win team after they put in the work to build it.....

I mean this team wins with different coaches every week...they were that good.....so he hops aboard at the final stop....weak to me

Kyle korver lol

He wants a ring and will get it...you guys are right there.....but imagine he stayed with OKC....a team he already took to 1...And should've last year....and he wins 1 there....his legacy is bringing a title on his back.....rather then just being part of it...

Again I get why you guys think it was smart....just not my preference....

Going to a losing franchise and bringing bosh is totally different in my opinion.....or going to Cleveland who was terrible and bringing Kevin love with you....totally different for me

I get why you think it's great he did it....i think it's weak....

Barkley was past his prime. People sure can't seem to grasp that.

LMFAO at comparing LeBron going back to Cleveland. Trying to compare that just shows how biased someone's opinion is. The Cavs were god awful before he came back and Kyrie wasn't the player he is now.

LeBron left Cleveland because the prior management would only muster up adding guys like Larry Hughes, Wally Z, Eric Snow....seriously? He went and joined an unknown. Kevin Durant left a WCF Finals team with what'll likely be an MVP sidekick, with a good supporting cast to join a built/established team who just won 73 games. You can choose to respect someone's opinion if you want(not like that means anything anyways), but trying to compare them is ignorant. Did they leave with the same purpose? Yes, but the circumstances couldn't be further from different.

No CURRENT superstar / FUTURE hall of famer had ever done this. And there is a reason for it. He is literally the first player who was a superstar at the time, to ever say "Can't beat 'em, better join 'em" -SOFT

Like I said, the media, public, and other great talents will always respect KD's game, but until he puts in the work to win a championship on his own shoulders, he will never get the legacy respect. Sadly, I think he's ok with that. He'd rather win than compete.

I get wanting a ring

I just don't agree getting it this way

KD "deserves" a title....so have a lot of greats who never got one because of michael.....Stockton and Malone never woulda signed with chicago....even more Chicago wouldn't have been trying to get them in THE middle of a playoff run against them the prior year....overall I just think it was lame.....

But he will have his ring....thats fine....if he is ok with getting it this way that's really all that matters.....

Right. Because he would have never gotten a ring if he stayed in OKC. Period. He would have been Karl Malone or Barkley. A great player that was never good enough to get a ring. Just like Lebron WOULD HAVE NEVER gotten a ring had he stayed in Cleveland. Because they would have never drafted Kyrie.

And to suggest that Lebron didn't go to a team with any talent, not once, but twice, is the real biased opinion in this thread.

Haters gotta hate, and Turnoff, if you're gonna say Durant would rather "win than compete" watch him "COMPETE" against your G.O.A.T. Lebron, who would rather whine about not getting a call when he bowls into people than hustle back on defense (not that he'd make his free throws anyway had he gotten the call. G.O.A.T's don't go 8-12 from the FT line in the finals...). Addict and all you haters, the word on Durant has been that he doesn't step up in crunch time, well watch him not only step up and COMPETE (and OUTPLAY LB, LeBron 8-12 from the charity stripe, KD 7-8 J, but win the MVP of the finals

Miami and Cleveland both sucked before LeBron showed up...

And don't you recall all the conversation about how bad his supporting cast was 3 of 4 yrs im Miami

Cleveland was garbage....not even a playoff team in the east....lebron and love came to put in the work....

Without LeBron Cleveland is not a playoff team in the east....proven fact
Without Durant the warriors are world champs caliber....proven fact

You cannot tell me it's not different circumstances

And says who that Durant would have went Title-less if he stayed..... He made it to 1 finals and should have been in there last year over the Warriors... they were literally right there he just had to come back and compete but he chose not to and to join the Champs....jordan couldn't beat detroit for a stretch...until he did....imagine if he woulda joined detroit after losing to them....he wouldn't be the idol he is today...and because of how it played out I don't think Durant will have the legacy he could of had if he won a title somewhere else....

That's fine if you don't think OKC was his spot....he felt the same way....id of rather seen him go anywhere else besides golden state

Again I'm not saying he is right or wrong
....my opinion doesn't mean shit I'm just saying personally I think it was soft

I'd rather not have any teams loading up like we've seen but in no way is Durant going to Golden State like anything we've seen prior

It's his life and his journey...he will have a title....if he can live with it coming this way then good for him....obviously I'm in the minority by looking at all the replies....and that's fine but it's not gonna change my mind how I feel....

Best of luck to ya man and remember my opinion means nothing and I really hope you know im not saying any of this aggresively....i just don't like the optics and ethics of it....doesnt mean he was wrong....hes gonna get his jewelry so im sure he could care less if anyone thinks less of his ring....

And as far as him being a good guy and "deserving"...im also not debating any of that....i don't know him....

I don't know what you're talking about..im not a cavs fan or a warriors hater

It's a discussion about if Durant made a soft choice or not....nothing about the warriors or Durant not being good....durants a stud...

Really not sure what your take was about but hope you cash that ticket guy

And dude both sides whined all game...i can go find clips of draymond and Steph complaining to refs...they all do it.....lebron cries so does steph...

I think the warriors are one of best teams ever assembled.....and Durant is a top 5 player without a question....how am I a warrior hater.??

I literally could care less who won now....

I just wish we were seeing a 3rd installment of things without durant....i think the prior 2 series were epic....durant set them over the top...a 73 win team adding durant....just not as fun for me to watch now...of course they are gonna kill everyone.....so how does that make me a hater....

Addict,

What I've learned about Warriors fans are is they like to play the "we don't get respect, everyone is haters" card, but at the same time they are arrogant and act like nobody deserves to be in the same breath as them.

Congrats Golden State. You're the pickup basketball team that got upset so you went and added another elite player to just win easy.

Warriors fans and LeBron haters can try and erase last year as much as they want. Considering all things equal, or at least as much so on paper, LeBron made the Warriors his bitch.

Yes, comparing LeBron's road vs Durants I can see your point. You didn't really mention that in your original post. Comparing the two LeBron gets more respect IMO. He is still the BEST player in the NBA right now, BUT Curry is right on his heels like right there! He is making his own legacy as we speak

LeBrons years are winding down and I'm sure he'll get at least 1 more ring before exiting.....Cavs WILL make a move for an elite player after this season. Paul George? Harden? OKC would never give up Westbrook, but damn that would be amazing! I just don't know how the chemistry would be as this current Warriors team is VERY special and unselfish in the way they play together. Very unique with all the big names
