I thought James Thompson would have a chance against Kimbo until he left Xtreme Couture.
Thompson tried to take down Brett Rogers in his last fight,but failed to do so and go KO'd for it.
Thompson is now training in the UK with London Street Fighters(not sure what they teach but I doubt it is takedown).

I think James comes out and goes toe to toe and gets KO'd in less than 20 seconds.

With Couture I gave James a 20% chance. Without Randy I give James 00000000000% chance.

No fighters in Elite will win a street fight with Kimbo. Someone can and will submit him in time.

This fight smells fishy to me. It sounds like CBS or Elite and went to Thompson and offered him something extra to try and brawl with Kimbo knowing the big KO is coming on their primetime show.Why else would he go train with a Street fighter group.

?EliteXC is a desperate promotion that?s hemorrhaging money. It?s willing to sell anything, even a false portrait of its sport, to succeed. Kimbo is a guy with unexpected and most likely fleeting earning potential; understandably he?s willing to cash in even if it means tomato-can opponents and an image so unfortunately stereotypical. CBS is so focused on quick television ratings, it will present a cheap trick, lowest common denominator show. This, rather than an introduction to a sport that if treated with respect and patience could grow into a powerful property. Everyone is using. Everyone is getting used. In the end, what will be left from this experiment?? Will MMA on CBS just be a short-run, freak show discarded by all, left to return to its true roots and better promotions after the circus has left town?? Saturday?s card is not set up to show the best of mixed martial arts and introduce America to a sport it would likely embrace. If CBS was trying to build serious interest in football, it wouldn?t trot out an unproven pro team against a doomed high school squad and call the ensuing blowout the best the game offers. It?d get the New England Patriots and the New York Giants and let people see the real deal. But neither the network nor EliteXC are treating the sport or Kimbo Slice as anything but disposable programming. And that?s the problem here.?

I think it does. Bas wouldn't waste his time with someone if he didnt see potential. Im not a Kimbo nuthugger but the guy is dangerous and with the right training could be a legit contender. Is he right now? I dont think so, but Bas has made a track record of training top guys (Kerr, Ricco, Bang Ludwig, his IFL team) and that will only benefit Kimbo.

Something isn't right with the Gina weight situation. In her last fight they where worried she wouldn't be able to perform because she had to cut so much weight. Obviously she can't make it down to that weight so why try it.

ok.. since ive got a DVR now, ive decided to tape the tribute to "The Iceman" on Spike TV and watch as much of this Elite XC event as i can bare...

i do want MMA to do well on network cable even if it is a lackluster card IMO. I think the Villasenor/Baroni fight could be good... I think Lawler will slap Scott Smith silly... and it sounds like a good time for me to watch my first chick fight ever... ive NEVER watched a chick fight yet... except this one chick boxing match that was on the big screen at HOOTERS back in the day.

Still think James Thompson gets knocked out before they touch gloves... I was a little surprised he didnt get knocked out at the weigh-ins :142smilie

After seeing weigh-in results:
WOW... Gina wasnt even CLOSE to making weight. geez.... Didnt know Thompson had about 20 pounds on Kimbo, either..

i think carano relizes that this girl is actually stronger than she is and that she needs the extra weight...and the extra strength she would have lost by cutting all that weight....

She deserves FAR MORE crticism. This is not the first time that she has failed to make weight in a division that was made just for her, so she could cut weight to fight smaller opponents. She did not even try this time. :nono:
Kimbo is working with Bas and try's to fullfill his obligations.

Travis lutter is fed to the dogs for failing to make weight once.
Godzilla was thrown of the TUF show and told he would NEVER fight for the UFC again for failing to make weight.

Young takes the sport seriously. She is already moving up a weight division from 135 to the "Gina Corrano" 140 weight division. She deserves better.


I have a huge wager on Young. I hope she knocks Gina onto that fat, cellulite encrusted arse.

carano trained for "maybe" 3 weeks....this broad lives to train....you can`t see her legs,but they`re powerful...

True, I don't have any complaints about Kimbo. If any complaints should be levied it's against Gary Shaw and some of the fans although it would be elitist of me to say what the fans should like.
