he did take a knee. he placed the ball down after he took a knee to speed up the process. the ref blew the play dead. even if you want to say he didnt take a knee, which he did, he still gave himself up which the ref acknowledged by whistling the play dead. if nothing else, the ASU player should have been flagged for delay of game.

He did take a knee but it was so fast it was hard to tell. He sets the ball down and backs away. I really believe the refs were confused for a second, the players were. Badger coach says they practice spiking the ball in this situation. Staave should have spiked it or taken a knee. If he takes the knee he can hand the ball to the ref.Its a horrible no call by refs but Staave as I said didn't do what he's coached and set this cluster fuk in motion.

For the record, I had WISC + 3 for game and WISC +4 for 2H, so this is hardly biased in favor of my team.

WISC coach was an absolute idiot for running another play. Why run another play with 18 second left when this is an easy FG? Why risj a sack, a penalty, or a turnover -- or somehting like this. Blame initially falls on WSIC head coach for foolishly running a play.

Then, there's he WSIC QB Stave, one of the most einept leaders I've seen in a while, calling the plays and doing something that was mystifying. What QB simply stops in the middle of the field and sets the ball down? Naturally, ARZ ST players viewed this as a fumble and had every right to instinctively jum on the ball (I'd rule it a fumble, since Stave failed to make it clear he was down).

The non-call Delay of Game penalty that would have changed everything is entirely the fault of Stave, who by his bizarre actions, led to absolute confusoin at the end of the game. Ten seconds or so ticked off the clock, which looks to me like a reasonable amount of time to wait for the officials to make a ruling as to who had possession.

I was lucky to cover boths wagers last night, but I am fading this idiot QB (Stave) as often as a I can. Absolutely a brain dead player and poor leader, not to mention a weak passer.

Nolan,

He DID kneel before he set the ball down. They ran the play to get the ball to the middle of the field because Wisconsin has possibly the worst kickers in FBS and they wanted a straight-on kick. There was more than enough time to move the ball to the middle and then spike it.

Ten seconds is not "reasonable" to make a ruling as to had possession. If the refs don't know who has possession, they are supposed to stop the clock (watch what happens every time there is an eight-player scrum for a fumble... the refs stop the clock and then figure out who has possession, they don't just let the clock run).

However, Wisconsin's kickers are so bad that there is no guarantee the field goal would have been made even if the referees had not shit the bed on that play.

The Wisky QB may be an idiot and you have every right to hate him but he didn't do anything that should have cost his team the game.

First of all, he did kneel and give himself up, which the refs ACKNOWLEDGED WHEN THEY BLEW THE PLAY DEAD.

I have seen dozens and dozens of qbs hike the ball and dive to the middle of the field or other side of the field to set up a kick. This is a common occurrence and isnt anything earth shattering. He took a knee and placed the ball down where the ball should have been spotted, essentially doing the refs job for them.

An awful botchery from the refs to end this game. Even if they thought it was a fumble why would they not review it? If he never touched down, which he did, it would still be pretty damn close and worthy of a review.

2 other point to answer Nolan Dolla:

You were not "lucky" to win your bets. Wisconsin would beat AZ St 7 times out of 10 and should have won that game. I will go the opposite and play on Wisky all year as they have playmakers all over the field and yes Stave played lousy but I think he will be fine in long term.

As bad as the Big10 is this year, it won't cause much of a storm. Ohio St and no one else, N'western may end up just behind them. Michigan, well - if they play again like they did vs Akron, OHIO ST will beat them by 21!!

WISKY got hosed, the refs will be reprimanded but they will still be allowed to officiate, since it was a non-conf game and screw some more folks outta money!!

Glad I only had the total going over but I know a ton of folks that had ML on Wisky besides the +4 to +5 1/2 on that one!!

Well said you are right on. I've watched Stave when he played in h.s all the talk about him I never bought. I was a huge critic and took alot of heat about being critical of a local kid. He has no on field presence. He has a very slow release and will get sacked alot no foot speed. He locks into 1 receiver on the field and will force the pass to that player. Physical mistakes happen and I can live with but mental mistakes can't happen. You don't put the ball down in front of 10 players and run away from the line of scrimmage.
