Caddied for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant at a charity golf tournament back in 1977. Even though I am an Auburn Fan I still respected Coach Bryant & his success. After spending 5 hours with him, I understood why he was the Greatest College Football Coach EVER. Have many stories about what happened that day & will add them when I have time.

That is a spicy intro, D2! Can't wait to read your follow-up. OK, kickserv, let's hear it. Why are Serena and Bryson the most horrible humans you have ever encountered dude!?!? You are peeing your pants to tell the story...

I was lucky enough to get asked to do a favor for special services at American Airlines and meet a VIP passenger who required assistance and needed someone to meet his flight and take him to the Admirals Club answer he had a private club dining room reserved as he had over a four hour layover between flights. I was too sit with him and assist him in any way necessary and ensure he was in his seat and ready to go. I did as directed and I had zero experience with this service as I was an Avionics mechanic, not a special services representative. I had no information as to who I was meeting only that he is she needed assistance planing and deplaning.
The passenger was Muhammed Ali. He was/ is my childhood hero. I was lucky enough to spend the next 5 hours with him. He was still able to communicate and was fully cognizant of his surroundings and all that stuff, he simply spoke more measured and with a lighter tone. He and I sat and had lunch, just he and I in a dining room in the admirals club. He was kind, intelligent, confident, considerate and way more interested in me and my life than me just sitting there fan-girling over him. The dude literally called my mom and dad and spoke to both of them with a familiarity and excitement that makes me cry just sitting here writing this. He invited my entire family to his home any time we were ever on the neighborhood. He actually did that shit. He was an amazing man. After a couple hours, he told me Ernie Shavers hit him the hardest, that he didn't remember the last two rounds against George Foreman, and that his biggest achievement was in 1981 when he rushed to the scene of a man on a ledge in Los Angeles threatening to jump. His friend was at the scene I guess and told Ali who pulled up in his Rolls Royce and was able to convince police to let him try and talk him down. He told me that it was the one time in his life where he felt like he was touched and spoken to by Allah and that he was put in that position that day by him. Ali was able to save the man and promised him a ride in his Rolls, which he did. He took him to the police station and ultimately a psychiatric care facility in style. According to Ali, he remained in touch with the man.
After lunch he told be he wanted to be out in the terminal area with his fans and that's what we did. He mugged for every camera and pulled me into every camera shot taken. I must have stood there with Muhammed Ali's left hand on my shoulder 100 times and I don't recall ever exhaling the entire time. Ultimately I walked him to his seat in first class, early boarding and all, and as I turned to leave he stood up and gave me the biggest most memorable hug I have ever had. He thanked me for sitting with him and reminded me to tell my mom to make sure and stop by whenever she is in town and I could only kind of squeak and say goodbye. Was an incredibly moving experience for me and has stuck with me my entire life.

Hope this helps,
FDC

A close second was in the 80s my cousin and I railed through an 8 ball of blow with Dennis Eckersley, Rick Sutcliffe, Ed Lynch, and Bobby Dernier in the bathroom of Murphys Bleachers at 1038 in the morning before a Cubs home game.
Cubs lost.

Sorry Kick. I sailed the green on that one.

I'll try harder.

How about this. I met Aaron Hernandez the summer after his rookie year... and..... well......I think we all know how that turned out.

Hope this helps,
