Was contacted by a friend in LA for a 10 person, 300$ fantasy league. He's the only one I know in the league. This was my last communication with his friend who is the commish:

Since they are west coast, will be a late draft. Anyway, I woke up this AM to a bunch of missed calls while I was asleep. Apparently they changed the draft to last night and I never got notification. The only way I would have known was to check their yahoo league messageboard. Any other league I would have gotten a text or email about the change. I didn't think to check that board...I created the team a few weeks ago, printed the structure, and planned to log in tonight to draft.

My team is dog shit. For a 50-100$ league I wouldn't care as much. But for a 300$ league- I don't want to pay/participate because I wasn't notified of the draft change. But, I also don't want to be a dick and back out if I don't have a case.

Honestly- remove your bias towards "saint"- this is you in this situation, what do you think?

There should have been more of an effort to contact you via email, text, phone or whatever, esp if the commish is your buddy.
Any draft time changes in our league, the commish sends out ample notice in email and has the league vote on the yahoo board until we get a time that works...

Tough predicament to be in regarding payment but wouldn't fault you for not paying esp. if you agreed on a previous set time.

1. You should have been notified by text or phone of the change, HOWEVER when was the change made it should tell you when the commissioner changed it. If it was weeks ago, then Id put it back on you, if it was recent back on them.

I guess its a tough spot, clearly you will ruffle feathers by not paying

Obviously it is your fault for picking a league full of schmucks. Yahoo still does leagues huh?

Honestly though, tough situation, guilt your buddy and some of the others into making sweat heart trades with you to improve your team. Or go the other extreme and collude with your buddy trading him Adrian Peterson for his kicker and work out a deal if he wins $ that he gives you a kick back.

Thanks guys. I just don't want to be a dick and not pay- but I also don't want to donate 300$ for nothing.

I'd be pissed too I understand, not fair at all. If it was last minute I would ask for a re-draft to be fair.

actually not a bad looking team, if RGIII comes through you will be fine.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I set up fantasy football and baseball leagues, and I think it is bullshit! I have it a little easier but the guys here can attest to how many emails I send out just to get everyone on the same page for draft date. I always check in to make sure everyone is in and signed into the correct league draft night. I would never change a draft night or if I did I wouldn't just change it to any old night. I would have to make sure EVERYONE in the league agrees to the new draft night. These league sites such as yahoo or ESPN are suppose to send you automatic emails that the draft has change but I don't trust them and sometimes your spam filter takes it.

If it was my best friend or really close friend, I would pay, giving the league members a bunch of shit or at least the commish or whoever changed the day. Anything else and I say fuck it.

HELL
Redraft or they need to look for another person to take your team.

Now this is funny....you have been in my league for years now.....who are you kidding? This would be best team you ever had or drafted :).

What's bullshit about this if this was changed and you couldn't make at least you could have had pre rankings or have someone draft for you if you would had known. Many of you get in things I run, if anything over communicate. Total garbage.

Suck it up. Win the league and stick up their fucking asses.

That team can contend.

How is your fantasy Football record? If not so good, you may be better off this way anyhow.

I'm with you on this one - I am in two leagues and must have 50 emails that go back and forth to agree upon a draft date, plus the Commish calls each person that is unaccounted for with ample notice. What is the Commish saying?

I never advocate being a stiff but I'd never want to pay for a team I didn't draft.
