Again, is this the best golf fantasy out there, NO, but to my knowledge it was the only gig in town now, and Agent who has competed in this with me (I am the commissioner) for a few years now asked to bring all of you over from CBS. CBS was a real screw job, not letting him or us know it went down. Almost all of the other ones out are a fee for service, where I run the NFL Survivor and Bowl Contest (officefootballpool) has a salary cap, survivor, and pickem contest for golf, but it was kind of too late to do anything and yes they charge.
Regarding this at YAHOO, Agent put an email out to the group to which I hit reply all that I will assist everyone to get up on their feet the first few weeks but making some suggestions.
Each week, you are required to pick 2 A, 4 B, and 2 C players that YAHOO has ranked. Of this, you start 1 A, 2 B, and 1 C. Those that you start or switch to count as a start and you can only select a player 10 times throughout the year. You WOULD only need to switch a player if one of your starters ISNT going to make the cut or one of your bench players has a chance to win.
EACH day points are awarded based off the REAL low score for the day, such as from a PAR 72, someone shoots 62, the points get broken down like this......
62 or -10 gets 20
63 or -9 gets 18
64 or -8 gets 16
65 or -7 gets 14
66 or -6 gets 12
67 or -5 gets 10
68 or -4 gets 8
69 or -3 gets 6
70 or -2 gets 4
71 or -1 gets 2
72 or higher gets 0
Lets say your 1 A shoots 65, 1 B shoots 70 and the other B shoots 75, and 1 C shoots 64. You would net 14, 4, 0, and 16 or 34 points for the DAY. Each day this scoring starts for the low round of the day whether you had a guy shoot it or not. Bonus points are 20 for one your players winning the event, 10 for second, and 5 for third.
Yes, this one requires a little bit of babysitting, especially if one your bench players gets hot, or has a chance to win or one of your starters will not make the cut. Point being, it is imperative to have 4 live players in each day, and really doesn't need to be look at until Friday night once the cut number is in place.
At the end of the day, and how I look at is, it is something to do throughout the spring/summer. You will not get RICH off of this, pretty much why once I understand who is in and out or paid or hasn't, I will put out the pay structure. We originally at it summed up of 30 entries, $20 per weekly winner, $30 for the 4 majors-sawgrass-4 fed ex events, and the season is broken up into 3 sessions therefore top three in session get paid.
A little wordy, but those in my email address is listed at YAHOO, send me something if need be. It is something to do, that's it, and knowing what we do now, we can change or look to go elsewhere in years to come obviously.
