Any of you guys remember Handsome Harley Race? He has his own promotion business now. He did a deal for our sports booster club last year. Got a signed hat out of the deal.

Having been involved with wrestling a few years ago, I have some good friends who are former wrestlers. They include Mad Dog and The Butcher Vachon, Baron Von Raschke, Ken Patera, and Jumpin' Jim Brunzell. Great bunch of people.

can't believe nobody mentioned Jesse'the Body' Ventura..."Win if you can, Lose if you must, just remember to always cheat!"

Chan, if he was still *the body*, rather than *the BRAIN* (heavy on the sarcasm) people outside of Minnesota would still think of him ;) :p

Rowdy Roddy Piper

Razor Ramon

Sgt Slaughter

"The Ice Man" King Parsons - I think he was popular locally in DFW only.

This might be my favorite thread of all time. Shawn Michaels is my answer. Savage, Piper, Flair, Rock, Austin, Eddy, Jake the Snake are all up there.

For Puroresu (I'll admit I'm a wrestling nerd) I gotta go with Kenta Kobashi. For MMA (loose affiliation, I know) I'll go with Mirko Cro Cop. For Lucha Libre, gotta go with Juventud Guererra (if Eddy doesn't count).

Another thing about wrestling how about the "managers" there have been some colorful characters. Lou albano, classy freddie blassie the grand wizard the sheikh to name a few. They added some laughter and entertainment along the way.

growing up in texas in 70's there was a dude:
eric the claw von somethin or another.
he had a couple of son's that became big stars later. he would get pissed and put this freakin claw lock on your melon and the villains would flop around like fish out of water.
great stuff.
after that i would watch roller derby.

You're talking about the Von Erics. All of them are dead from drug overdoses or suicides accept for the youngest. He used to wrestle barefooted. The only one to make it big was Kerry, who eventually became the Intercontinental Champion in the WWF wrestling as the Texas Tornado. I used to go to the Sportatorium in Dallas as a kid and watch all the Von Erics, Free Birds, Kabuki(sp?), the Dingo Warrior(aka Ultimate Warrior in the WWF), and my all time favorite local wrestler "The Ice Man" King Parsons!
