Justin Leonard 33/1
: Played well last week despite an opening round 72 which pretty much washed away his chances of victory. He was four shots back last year going into the final round but shot a 77. He has two runner up finishes at this event as well.

Dustin Johnson 100/1:
Just riding this train a bit longer. His length is a bonus here and although he has no course experience, this course will suit him well.

Jeff Overton 150/1: t25 in his course debut last year. Excellent player, another player im riding for the next few events.

Back in the game with a new computer here.

Three guys that capped up well for me this week are Elkington, Na, and Baird. All three did well here last year, and play decent early in the season.

My pick is Kevin Na 76.00

72 hole match
Gay Over Imada +100
On paper this is really a gimme. I don't know why Gay is the dog.

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Brian Gay to beat Ryuji Imada -115 @ Carib
Backing Gay to start well today. He's in great form - finishes of 18th, 5th and 19th in the first three weeks of the season - and has been in the top-3 after the opening round of this event in each of the last two years. Such is his ability to start tournaments well that he leads Imada 13-4-3 h2h in the 1st round since the start of last season.

Brian Gay to beat George McNeill -115 @ Five Dimes
McNeill looks a more formidable opponent, but he is due to tee-off at 7.25am local time when the temperature is forecast to be only 4?C ... there is usually a notable advantage for the afternoon starters on these desert courses.

Charles Howell to beat Zach Johnson +120 @ William Hill [tie loses] [also available @ SkyBet]
Johnson may be in great form with a win and a 6th place finish in his two starts this year, but in the last three years here he has missed the cut in 2006, withdrawn after the 1st round in 2007 and skipped the event in 2008. With Howell also showing good early form (4th in the Sony Open in his only start) and having a record of seven top-40 finishes from seven attempts on this course, the edge should be with 'Three Sticks'.

Charles Howell to beat Chad Campbell +100 @ Five Dimes [also availble @ Bet365]
Campbell has, if anything, an even worse record at Scottsdale than Johnson. In the last four years, he has missed the cut three times and finished 70th on the other occasion.

Stewart Cink to beat Chad Campbell +110 @ William Hill [tie loses] [also available @ SkyBet]
By contrast, Cink has six top-15 finishes in the last ten years on this course and with Campbell only shooting a lower 1st round score than Cink twice in the whole of 2008 (15 common events), Cink should be the favourite in this 1st round matchup.

Oberholser -125 over Petterson (72 holes)

My buddy is out there on the range and said he liked the way Arron was striking it. Kid is one of my favorite golfers. He is great on the west coast when healthy. i don't think this is a good course for Petterson.

Nice start in this matchup

I want to add Angel Cabrera to win 75 to 1.

Last time I tipped this guy or even hinted him I think it was the US Open in 07. He's been off the golf planet for a while, but looked to be in great form in the Africa Open. This is a bombers paradise. Even with no course history here, I like his chances.

Excellent pick by me :mj07:

Oh yea Kim 3 penalty strokes already off the tee.. I will be kicking myself all year for not fading him. At least I didnt use Mickelson to fade him, because that would have been a nail biter.

Come on Na. Throw an 8 under on me today.

Gay an easy winner over Imada, as Ryugi misses the cut.

This is our week guys. Everyone seems poised to win big. Good capping.

Not me. looks like a tough week, Rollins birding 18 to make the cut hurt. Need Aaron to come thru and also Jeff to make at least one bird coming in to get to the weekend.

I went big on Federer also.

See yall fools on Monday, :toast:
