First off, court storming has gotten absolutely ridiculous. (Warning, grumpy old man rant coming...) In the past, you stormed the court after a HUGE win or a giant upset. Now, I understand that Wake is the forgotten stepchild in North Carolina, and any time they can beat Duke or UNC it's a nice win. But not court-storming nice. And they were FAVORED, for fucks sake. It wasn't even an upset.

Secondly, some of those "kids" storming the court were clearly looking to take shots at Filipowski (and, presumably, other Duke players). Obviously that is bullshit and hopefully the University can identify and punish them.

But despite all that... Filipowski still deserves some of the blame for his injury. Watch the overhead shot in that article. Filipowski initiated that contact. He's extending his leg in an effort to trip that kid. Whoopsie. I hope the injury isn't serious, but that wasn't a bright move on his part.

They absolutely need to figure out a way to give the opposing team a chance to exit the floor before allowing the students to storm the court.

It would be very easy for conferences to stop the court storming. Instead of the fines that they issue, take away a home game against the opponent and have them play two road games against the victim instead of a home and home the following year.

I have an extreme take. You storm the court, your team forfeits. Warnings or 5K fines are jokes. I am shocked there hasn't been a brawl in the past b/w players & fans. If I was a player, I'm sure I'd be kicked off the team for defending myself.

I agree maybe you could """"regulate""""" court storming but the world has gotten so soft. Both caitlyn clark and filipowski both initiated the contact in the latest controversial court stormings in my opinion. I think we get rid of great sports traditions all too often, if filipowski didnt want the court stormed he shouldnt have lost to wake forest.

(On the other hand, wake should be embarrased for storming court as a favorite)

I find it hard to believe that the students were swarming the court to attack any Duke players! The ones I saw in the stands couldn't fight themselves out of a paper bag! But yes, it’s gotten way out of hand. And exactly as lock$ said Wake was the favorite not an upset win!
