Last night/early this morning my home got broken in to.

2 young men entered my home through the back door and much like Thunderdome, 2 men entered, but only 1 left.

The one that got away managed to take my daughters iPads with him. They are iPad2, I had them on the iCloud, and they are Wifi (not 3g)
While I can bring up icloud.com and punch in my daughters emails that were on them, it still shows them not being online.

So, are there any other ways I can tap into the location of the ipads so I can show up and remove them from the hands of this villian? I don't have any other kinds of apps on it like a stolen ipad app.

I've asked the "one that didn't get away" but unfortunately he is now physically unable to speak.

and no, i am not making this shit up.

are you holding the one that didn't get away in your basement? That's what I'm picturing right now.

You have the ability to turn on "find my ipad" on the ipad itself as a locator service. I'm not sure if this can be done remotely without having initially set it up.

From the apple site:
Go to Settings on your iPad, tap iCloud, and enable Find My iPad.1 Then if you misplace it, sign in to icloud.com from any web browser on a Mac or PC. Or borrow your friend?s iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch and use the Find My iPhone app. Find My iPad shows you the approximate location of your iPad on a map.2

On a side note, would you mind sharing more details about what you did to the one who didn't get away. Glad to hear no one in your family was hurt.

Right now, all I'll say is that this coming saturday morning is deer season. And I happened to be up late packing my gear to head up to deer camp.
Things were out, and readily accessible that did not bode well for our little cat burglar.

Yes - I have this. The problem is that the iPad is turned off. It only works when the ipad is on and connected to a signal.

Sorry this happened, Marine and best of luck finding the stolen goods.

Otherwise, I'm always proud of our men in service and that include a case like this. Apparently these fools didn't do their homework on what house they were breaking into.

May god have mercy on their souls.
