Fixed? All I know is the same back judge called offensive pass interference on the first Seattle TD. Tried to call a Unnecessary roughness on the next Pitt drive (was overruled). Called back 2 special teams return by Seattle. Missed the completed pass by Jurivicious in first quarter and called it incomplete. And tried to say Hasselback fumbled when in fact he didn't in the 4th quarter. Same guy, same bad calls. Also the official in the backfield called all the holding penalties on Seattle, not the guy behind the line of scrimmage. ODD. Even after all of that if you consider Seattle went on a HUGE drive to end the 3rd and into the 4th. It would have been a 98 yard drive to take the lead in the 4th quarter and all the momentum in the world. But the phantom holding call and the interception 2 plays later and BALLGAME. Be happy if you won but rest assured you'll be on the losing side more than the winning side of these kind of games. If you were not, the books would go broke. I also want to add that I talked to several locals in different states and there were some that were heavy Seattle. Most told me they where pretty even. It's not the public landslide everyone is acting like it was. There were plenty of people on the Seahawks, that is evident by all the bitching going on in this and every other forum right now. It's funny the same 2 guys made 90% of the penalty calls. One of them was the guy under the hood for the replay. I'm not going to say it was fixed. I will say it was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. It is the Super Bowl. These guys are supposed to be the best. Replay has shown more than once (in the play-offs) that it is worthless. There is way too much $$$ involved for there not to be crooked people involved. Just look at what has happened to the referees in SEC basketball this year. Heck one of them was the head of all officials. He has been dismissed. If you won tonight, great. Let the guys that lost bitch a little. They are entitled.

You can change that to "WINNER" because I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan that just knew Pitt would win the Superbowl..... :violin: :violin: :violin:

The officials were bad but so was Seattle 2 minute play. I had Pitt but was laughing at the Push off, and the Hold. Give me a break. NFL makes millions but just can't get it right with officials.;

ONE QUESTION, If I throw a flag, Why do I have to talk to anyone about it??

How many times do they talk and it gets changed? If I saw you hold or rough, why would it change after I talk to another guy who is 25 yards away?"??

Yeah, Seattle got the bad break on the TD, but it was the first quarter and they had PLENTY of chances to come back, including both times they literally WASTED 2 minutes in their hurry up offense and got ZERO POINTS! If you want to point to something that cost seattle the game, point to their clock management.

Penalties exist, like them or not. It should NOT be this way, but they are DISCRETIONARY! There are rules that according to the rules, can be called QUITE OFTEN, but are not. Offensive PI is one of them. That play fell within the rules of the penalty, and the ref had the discretion to make the call. That was the ref's decision. I'm not agreeing with the call, but it was within his discretion. Kind of like how the "push" penalty is NEVER called. It is illegal to push another player to advance them. See: ND vs. USC. In practice, NEVER called. But would a ref be WRONG for making the call? No because those are the rules and its within their discretion.

football is not fixed & anybody who thinks it is fixed shouldn't be be gambling on it...

as far as the offensive pass interference call in the ez...... it was the correct call.....a player can't push off & extend his arm by doing it....sometimes they call it & sometimes they don't....but it has to be called when it happens in front of an official......

I agree. Everything in life has people involved and that is why only certain people win? Let Athletes play and watch and enjoy??

I don't know if its fixed or not but if you think for one second that the officials did not heavily influence the outcome of this game, in favor of the Steelers......you're crazy or were sleeping thru the game or maybe just drunk.........when you outplay a team in all facets of the game......Turnovers, total yards and time of possesion......I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you dont lose by 11 points

I didn't have a rooting interest in either of these clubs, nor fans of either....just wanted to see a good game....and its a shame that the NFL put out a product like that......The officials ruined the flow of the game with the phantom calls, I thought the game was rather boring and everytime Seattle was on the verge of making it entertaining, here come the officials to shut the down the party.....I could see if it was one or two bad calls, but when you have 6 to 8 questionable calls in favor of one team, that raises red flags and puts in question the integrity of the league.......

You can sit there and blah, blah me to death about well this is why they called this and penalties happen....and I'll call bullshit.....just a fan of the game would see this rediculous officiating......do you think sports radio shows have ever experienced this kind of response before about the officiating in the Super Bowl and radio hosts open their rant about the officials and its the topic of discussion throughout the broadcast? Of course Pitt Bettors won't see it but a few actually did....

I'm from PA but as the game got longer into it, I found myself starting to back the Seahawks b/c I felt its like they didn't want them to win for some odd reason.......did this happen to anybody else who didnt have a side or a fan of either team?

Among Libtards!!
money and gambling aside, the real losers last night were the fans....all of us who tuned in to watch a good football game be determined by the players.....we were cheated of that.....sure most of us had money on it and that only magnifies things in our eyes.....but even if I didn't have a penny on that game last night, I'd be saying the same thing....a travesty.

penalty calls are discretionary and can only be called if someone sees them. You push a guy when you are 3 feet in front of a ref in the first quarter of a 0-0 super bowl, you deserve to have PI called on you. Its DISCRETIONARY and those circumstances justify the call.

Usually when a team is penalized alot we say they are "undisciplined". Now it seems that penalties automatically mean the game is fixed?? Gimme a break :violin:

Trust me, I feel for anyone who disagrees with the calls. As an ND fan, I have been there, and watched questionable officiating decide the last 5 seconds of a great game. Never did I say the game was "fixed" afterwards though. Bad calls, bad use of discretion, perhaps, but not fixed.

Key difference between that game and this was THOSE calls in the ND game decided it because it was the waning ticks of the 4th quarter. You dont have a chance to respond if a call screws you with no time left. Dont tell me first quarter calls decide a super bowl. Pleeeeeeeeeeease

the officiating has been awful all year & something should be done about it.....

eventhough most of the officiating calls went towards pitt, the officials didn't cost the seahawks this game.....seattle lost the game on their own....

bad clock management at the end of the 1st half & numerous dropped passes were big contributors towards their loss...

Are you kidding me with this?? The ref didn't even look like he was going to throw the flag until the Steeler DB turned around and complained......then the flag flew.......and I see you keep saying the 1st quarter, apparantly you didnt pay close attention to the rest of the game.....Another ? How do you push off with an already extended arm.....It was a questionable call and coulda been lived with, if that was the only one but it wasn't, its not that they were blowing calls, they were making them up...........Seahawks lost and the Steelers won is the bottom line and I'm not discounting that, cuz I could careless about who won.......But the Seahawks were playing against more than 11 guys out there and I'm dissappointed in the NFL for having the biggest game of the season...end up the way it did...I think refs need their own offseason workout, training camps and video breakdowns, b/c as AR said, the officials blew alot of calls this season and that crap needs to be worked out
