I'm getting ready to book our flights to Reno for Bowling and I can't get certain flights I want. I would like to go from Baltimore to Phoenix to Reno and vice versa but the dates are not available for the same trip back home. I have choices of coming back through Chicago or Denver. Should I pick one over another? Opinions?

not sure how long your layover is or if you plan to leave the airport, and I can't speak for the Chicago airport because I have never been, but the Denver airport is in the middle of nowhere. nothing around it at all.

No plans to leave the airports at all in fear of not getting back in time and missing our flight. We usually find something to eat while we are waiting. Our layover would only be 1:45 in Denver and 2:15 in Chicago. This is a fast weekend for us. We drive down to Baltimore after work Thursday and stay in a hotel. Fly out really early Friday morning to Reno, check in, eat, gamble, go to bed. Get up Saturday, bowl only in doubles and singles, eat, gamble, go to sleep, and fly back out Sunday Morning. Drive straight home from Baltimore when we get back Sunday Night and sleep all day Monday. We usually stay at the Eldorado but might have to stay at the Silver Legacy this time.

I need a hotel in Baltimore near the airport Thursday night March 3rd, Fly out on Southwest early Friday Morning to Reno. The Eldorado is booked for Friday night so we were going to stay at the Silver Legacy Fri and Sat nights. We usually get a Superior king non smoking room. Fly out on Southwest Sunday before lunch back to Baltimore.

Whatdya got?

Joker says you can help me out. I think I already have it covered but he says you need to get on it.

Denver no comparison. Check out the bar in the new hotel connected to the terminal. Several great bars in terminal C which is SW terminal-gl

I once had a three hour layover at O'hare. I left the airport, took a cab to a local pizza joint and got a deep dish pizza to-go and got back with barely enough time to be seated on the plane but I made it. Also, that pizza cost me about $150 with cab fare, but was worth it. (I probably woudn't have spent that much if I knew the cab would run me that much. Still to this day, if I have to pick deep dish over New York style, I would pick NY every time. Deep dish is not pizza.

I'm sure you see that Southwest doesn't have much to offer back from Reno? Only thing I see are flights connecting in Las Vegas and running $555.00 per person. Then the flight out on Friday is $287.00 each. $842.00 roundtrip with Southwest is absurd!

If you haven't purchased yet with Southwest, American has this option.

1 AA 531N 04MAR FR BWIRNO SS2 630A 1143A/O $ E
2 AA 634S 06MAR SU RNOPHX SS2 1230P 311P/O $ J02 E
3 AA 618S 06MAR SU PHXBWI SS2 520P 1125P/X $ J02 E

That 1st flight is not non-stop. It's direct but stops in Phoenix.
I'm showing $558.70 per person if you book with American straight-up. Of course they charge for luggage and Southwest doesn't but it's still would save you a few bucks.

My hope is you have something locked in with Southwest already?
You 2 don't bowl team event? You can always get on the sub list in case someone needs somebody Friday night?

I'll check back later if you have questions.
Good luck!

We don't bowl team event because its just the two of us and we never looked into bowling on another team. I get nervous bowling with people I don't know lol - same as golfing (performance anxiety)

We are going to have to change our dates to April 29th to May 1st. With Southwest we didn't have an option to come home Sunday and coming home Monday in the March Dates was our only choice and time wise it didn't work because we need to be home before the kids get home from school that day. i can get BWI to LAS to RNO and from Rno to Chicago to BWi for $929 round trip for 2. if we each open a southwest credit card we can each get a $200 credit on our statement so that's another $400 off. We don't mind driving to Baltimore to fly Southwest instead of out of Harrisburg even though that's closer.

I'm actually calling USBC today to book our dates for bowling because its a PITA to do it online when you don't bowl team and all events. Plus today is the last day to register- but they always extend it anyways.

Yes they will. One suitcase and one ball bag. We put all of our equipment in our luggage though because one year he ended up with just one shoe after they rooted through his ball bag. Then when you get to the bowling stadium they weight them and tech them before you go in. Then they laugh at him because my balls weigh more than his lol
