while there may be some truth to the money issue...i also believe that mayweather sees the current landscape in boxing as low hanging fruit....

by that i mean that he can avoid the margaritos, moseleys and cottos and fight little guys like marquez and manny where he will have multiple advantages while making at least as much money............

if marquez beats floyd,jr,then the end of the world may truly be at hand...

I find it hard to believe that Floyd is broke, are there any sites you are referring to?

Marquez said he weighed 145 lbs at the presser, which would be just a tad above their contracted weight for the fight (though its apparently still not clear whether it is at 144 or the like), he isnt small, but I think that Money will have a distinctive advantage in that departement.

Check Steve Kim and Doug Fischer stuff on Money May's money issues.

@Kramden
ok, thanks!

I just watched Marquez vs. Diaz and I must say I'm really impressed by Marquez, maybe he actually has a shot here!?

i had just the opposite reaction...he took way to much punishment from a non-technical pressure fighter....at 135....

Casa put hands on him, too
and Casa, in my opinion, is close to shot

Lots of variables in this one
Pretty Boy coming off an 18 month layoff (same length as Winky before PWill)
but, unlike Winky, Floyd is still young and in his prime

Marquez, certainly not in his prime, but never EVER been blown out by anyone. Competitive in every loss he has ever had. I bet Juan Diaz, and was counting my cash in round 8. Marquez NEVER quits.

I actually thought 140 was too high for JMM to go. Now that I hear 144, it gives me doubt. That's quite a jump up.

I highly doubt this fight ends in a KO.

ok, his reflexes have deteriorated, but I was impressed by his conditionning and combination punching...

Some guy on the maxboxing boards is saying that Terribles Casino in Vegas already has a Pac-Mayweather FUTURE line.

-110 either way.

Poor JMM is getting the "whatever" treatment. People giving him no shot.

Money May "money may be gone" How in the world could that be possible? He just got 20 mil last year for Wrestlemania plus the huge loot from the Delayhoya fight. If this is true it had to be gambling. He loves to gamble on games and is about as square as they come listening to his picks.

what`s interesting here is that you`ll have to figure into the equation manny and floyd`s public persona`s.....floyd is pretty much reviled...manny revered....

floyd will have to win convincingly, imo,to beat manny.....

he`s not gonna get the benefit of the doubt...

I'm pretty sure I read a later report - a few weeks after Wrestlemania - that the "20 million" they were stating on wrestling sites was all part of the gag. Part of the storyline to get people to hate Floyd.

But he does that all on his own, really.

I think he really got paid like 2 mil for the appearance.

Wynn has it Mayweather-360/+300 back. Also they have Klits-240; lowest price I've seen on that one.

they made it at welterweight 147

marquez can come in under

floyd knows how to hamstring his opponents even before they step in the ring

you gotta be kidding me. JMM Camp is allowing Floyd to weigh 147 if he desires? Source? For sure. I thought they did 144??

147 works good for me:box2: Apparently the JMM camp doesn't know the concept of a catch weight.

147! ....oh dear lord marquez. :( His mangerment should be fired. 147 is not a fair fight for a 130 super feather. He is going to be tired by the 9th round coming in so heavy. I mean the guy walks around at 144 without training and that much muscle added will take away his speed and endurance. I respect JMM and what he has done, but he has so many disadvantages to overcome in order to win this fight. I don't want to pick mayweather but the guy needs money, so he is hungry to win and set up the big fights with the more little guys.

Las Vegas Hilton superbook, as they like to call themselves, has it posted 144lbs. Marquez will surely come in under, whatever it calls for.

i think guys that want to bet Floyd should wait a little. That big mouth of Floyd's (as shown on ESPN yesterday) may drive down the odds. Floyd made some good points yesterday but he just rubs people the wrong way. I think a lot of guys underestimate the speed in JMM hands. My Opinion is Floyd better take him out early or he will make this a lot harder then it should be.
