- - If memory serves, since at least the 49ers - Giants/Bears - 49ers - Cowboys/Packers eras, when NFL Saturdays are rolled out in December, and a team to be reckoned with meets a backsliding team in favorable elements, time and again the gulf between the teams plays out over the course of 60 minutes . . . Under different circumstances, I might look at Pittsburgh as vulnerable this week, but from top to bottom, this game is writ in those letters, enough so that regardless of the outcome, I won't regret my thinking or my writing.

- - Intriguing matchup on several levels between the newly crowned division champs and the defending conference champs. I don't see either team rolling out their most finely minted game of the season, and I am actually looking for Atlanta to slug their way through and add to their win total, but not without typical Panther tenacity bringing drama to the final moments.
