do me a favor and stop driving em'. I don't see how you drive them. I won't even drive next to one on the interstate. Today a guy in his Explorer was trying to keep up next to me and I was going 80 then 90 and then had to hit 100 before I left him. I was terrified. So now these trucks are dangerous even if you aren't in them

Gator,

Dont take this the wrong way, but if you wanted to get away from the Ford then why didnt you just SLOW down and let the guy get far ahead of you. It seems to me that going 100 in any vehicle for whatever reason cant be all that safe either.

Well....I drive a Ford Explorer and absolutely love the truck. It appears that you guys have gotten too involved with the media. The explorer is just as safe as other SUVs if not safter. The entire Firestone/Ford situation is B/S. I work for a very large insurance company and the explorer rates better than just about every other SUV out there.....the others just haven't had the high profile lawsuit filed against them yet and therefore....the press has not slaughtered them. It's Ok to have your own opinion....but no need to base it strictly on the media.

I agree with djv, but I like Found On Road Dead better. Ford's blow imo. I like the big trucks though like a Tahoe. That vehicle is a great ride.

Off topic of the Explorer, but I would love to see a study on the penis size of the guys driving F-150s. I would bet that it is at least an inch less than the national norm.

Bobby...I thought that was saved for Corvette drivers

Kotysdad.....I'm going a steady 80, which by the way is a very safe speed to drive, especially in a nice luxury sedan, when a jacka$$ in an unsafe(and proven)vehicle gets up next to me and keeps riding, and I speed up and he speeds up, damm right I am not slowing down cuz of this fool. I have a kid and one on the way, so you aren't the only one with kids pal, as I'm a safe driver...you must be an Explorer owner...poor you.

tchism...I hope to God we don't read about you. I understand backing Ford and all, and the car you own of course, but now that Firestone is proving it's ford's fault and not there's, Ford is screwed, and take that to the bank...I know plenty of dead Explorer owner family members will

No offense....but I don't give a damn what kind of "luxury sedan" that you may drive....and there is no reason to start insulting someone elses vehicle or vehicle preference. Just because you don't like a particular vehicle doesn't mean that the people driving the vehicle are "poor souls"! You seem to be soooo touchy when someone comments on one of your threads and it is not to your liking. I happen to be very happy and satisfied with my Ford Explorer and there must be many others that are equally satisfied as there are more Ford Explorers on the road than any other vehicle.

Each person has the right to purchase whatever vehicle they like as it is their money that they are spending. No need to put them down just because you don't like the vehicle.

Your trucks flip more than any other vehicle...fact...proven...end of story. I'm a man and will always stick by my vehicle
wink.gif
, but when a vehicle is deemed unsafe, it's unsafe! I respect your thoughts and no need to take this personal, but I do give a damm about my safety, my childrens safety, and the safety of many others. And when sumthing is proven, and this is, I do have a problem with it.....that for should
smile.gif
...goodnight...and remember these good nights of sleep, cuz if you kill or injure sumbody cuz of your unsafe vehicle..well.....

If you do your research...you will find dead families in every type vehicle. The second firestone recall was strictly Ford's choice. In actuality.....the reason for the recalls is the Firestone tire has a 2% failure rate which is only slightly higher than the other nationally recognized brands.

I understand your concerns....but like many others in the US....they seem to be based strictly on the media portrayal. The media finds something that the public will feed off of and run with it. I honestly feel that Ford is getting the raw end of the deal here. In actuallity....the sales of Ford Explorer have not dropped as result.

I'm not trying to start a war here....just stating some facts.

It is an SUV and therefore there is a possibility of flipping. The reason that more flip than any other....is b/c there are more out there than any other. If you look at the ratio of vehicles on the road to vehicles that flip....they have a safer record than almost all of the other populare SUVs. I understand what your saying about your family's saftey....and I completely agree.

This is a no win situation as we all are going to have our own opinions when it comes to vehicles.....all I'm saying is there is no reason to post in a thread that we need to all stop driving Ford Explorers.

Hey, I'm open minded, and I guess we'll let the courts prove this. Heck, I hope you are right. I could also be overreacting based on the wreck that happened here over the weekend. Dunno if this made it nationally, but an Explorer driving over the Howard Franklin Bridge gets clipped and flips and then flys off the bridge into the water...all this as the guy is on his cell phone talking to his wife and the wife got to hear the whole thing. i wish you all the luck man, honestly.

In all honesty Gatorbait...I could give you similar SUV flippings of about every SUV on the Market. I'm a lowly claim representative for the largest insurance company in the world...and I have quite a number of reasons for purchasing my SUV.

Tchism....just out of curiosity, could you dig me up some stats on the Volkswagon Jetta...... granted, it's a small car, but it's more upright and squared off than most actual cars, wonder if that played a bit of a part in my rolling of mine. Also, it had EXTREMELY tight steering, which i hear could have also played a part in it......wondering if the tight steering is possibly a trait of the vehicle, overall, or mine was an exception to the rule. Thanks

This place likes the conspiracy theory so here it goes.....Ford(one of biggest sellers of cars and trucks) and the biggest insurance company. Big business, scratch my back, I scratch yours....conglomerate America here, think about it....just sumthing to ponder until the judge makes his ruling...until then, flip on
