Hard to compare because men's tennis now is a stamina game...was all serve and volley 2 hr 5 set matches in the past

If somehow u could get every player past and present to play each other on their absolute "A" game I agree I would take joker on every surface except dirt where I would take Nadal...joker IMO when playing his best is the best I've ever seen

I agree on that completely. That's why Gulbis is cool. He has fuck-you money and attitude. He and Djokovic are the only players who haven't already lost when they take the court against Nadal.

It seems like there was more screaming and smashing rackets in the old days. It's nice if some of them actually have personalities, cool or hot. I thought Monfils was far more interesting under professional control than hitting clown shots and being so-called entertaining.

True. I'd just like to see, say, an Anderson fully commit to serve and volley and try to beat the very top.

Sounds right. It's just hard to tell because of advances in conditioning. For all I know, Big Bill Tilden was the best there ever was or will be.

It seems to me, apart from certain days, you cannot beat Sharapova by letting her dictate the points. You can only beat her by bossing the points yourself. They won't try this because they fear they can't keep the ball in. But if they don't, it seems like Sharapova always wins in the end. Azarenka and Kvitova have to take the initiative away from Sharapova at any cost and put her on he back foot, even if they miss every other shot.

Sure seems to me there are more 6-0 then 1-6 sets in womens matches than in mens, more volitile swings. I def. like it more than the billy jean king days.....

As for the wta there is zero depth at the top. When Serena feels like winning she does. No one can touch "him."

The only surprising thing about today is Errani managed to win 1 game

Comparing the depth in Top 1000 in the men's tour with the depth of the women tour in the top 1000 isn't even worth a discussion.

The tours are totally different, the biggest difference is the depth.

I could go on and on and give you 100's of examples as to why the women's tour is a joke. But the biggest joke is the depth.

You say, oh, Errani got waxed today, 0 and 0. She's what #5 in world. I say, yes, true, she was overpowered. But the exact same thing happened to Ferrer losing to Nadal a couple months ago 0 and 1 if I recall. And he wasn't overpowered. he just cant handle Nadal mentally. He has no excuse, really. He should always be able to take games off Nadal. I could say, what a weak tour when you can be that mentally fragile, with no big weapons, and still number 4 or 5 in the world!

I see a handful of true greats, a second tier, and then journeymen. The same few people win every tournament - if they enter and don't get injured.
