Our Monie fan in Paris has some nice thing that will make u guys smile for the fisrt time this week.
this is from monica seles forum:
"About Monica, i've some good news. She's feeling better than yesterday. I didn't talk too much to her (didn't want to embarrasme). Just said "hi" and she answered me "Hey, good to see you ". Always a strange feeling to hear that from Monica Seles. Well, she practiced from 1.30PM to 3PM. Played a set's practice with her sparring partner, moved better than yesterday Her serve wasn't so good, a little bit struggled again with it. She asked a few times her Sparring partner what did he think about it. Backhand was good, forehand wasn't totally on the right timing at the beginning, but it was much better at the end. I noticed she's trying to don't have too much long rallies, trying to go to the net and finish the point as early as possible. But she has to be careful, because today, she maybe had too much precipation. But she often had the capacity to finish the points with 2 or 3 shots. The real good point is her return of serve: really well, good timing on it. That's what i can say after her practice."

Monica Seles is faced with a tough first round encounter against hard-hitting Russian Nadia Petrova. After suffering a career-threatening foot injury two weeks ago in Rome, the former world No1 will need to be on top form if she is to overcome her younger opponent - especially on the wearing clay court surface of Roland-Garros.
CURRENT FORM
Monica Seles hardly has fond memories of her only previous confrontation with Nadia Petrova. After all, that match was only ten days ago in Rome, and it resulted in the former world No1 being forced to retire when she was 6-3 4-1 down to the promising young Russian. A painful injury to her left foot saw her contemplating retirement from the game: "It might be the first sign of a stress fracture, or I could wake up in three days and feel no pain" she said. But even if she is fully fit, Seles will have her work cut out against Petrova, who reached a career-high ranking of 29th early last year only to be forced from the courts for the rest of the season due to an injury to her left foot!
After making the final in Tokyo and Duba?, Seles is yet to win a title this season. She also recorded her worst-ever result in the Australian Open this year when she was knocked out in the second round by the Czech Koulakova. Knowing Seles, those disappointments should only serve to strengthen her resolve in Paris.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES
Standing tall at 1.78m, Petrova is an aggressive player who likes to finish points early. Whether she manages to deal with the American's two handed "missiles" is another matter however, and therein lies the key to the match. If Seles manages to shake off her injury worries and get those thunderous drives going, her experience should do the rest. Should the old campaigner be struggling with her fitness, however, the Russian could well prevail.
