Outright plays (1 unit):

Vijay Singh to win 14/1 e.w. @ Paddy Power and BetDirect
Hard to fault a player who has finished outside the top-20 just once in any event since the Players Championship in March (20 starts) and currently ranks a very close 2nd in the Money List with three wins this year. He looked in very good form last week at the HSBC World Matchplay until he came up against an incredible burst of form from Els (he had been 4-up until Els won eight holes on the bounce) and does travel well. He shouldn't be too far from the leaderboard on Sunday.

K.J. Choi to win 25/1 e.w. @ Bet365
Choi has made a habit of being on the leaderboard on Sundays in the past couple of months and he obliged last week when 20/1. The seven-way share of 5th place meant there was a minimal return, but he has now finished in the top-7 in each of his last five starts, including one win, and he finished 6th last year. In this form, he can certainly compete with the best.

John Huston to win 50/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Fred Couples' odds (100/1 William Hill) are certainly tempting, but siding with a player who has a much better record in this event instead. Huston is a two-time winner of this event (1992 and 1998) and has shown some impressive form since he returned to the Tour after a five-week break. He won for the first time on Bentgrass greens at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic earlier this month and was only three shots out of a place finish last week as well. Back in his favoured Florida State, he should go even better this week.

G-N a few suggestions if I may if you intend to make wagering on golf a permanat thing.
1st do not not get carried away with hots streaks and increase wagers till following year maybe. Make the book get it back same way you won it and you should keep head above water.
Get familiar with Stan's golf site www.tour-tips.com it got everything you need with stats-shopping lines-one stop link to scores. Get you an account at 5 dimes as you with see 75% on matches generated from there.
While the pga season is coming to and end shortly there is season coming referred to as silly season which you will see has some quite unfamiliar events. The Euro guys here have very good insight on these and Stan has had great results over the years as they are very famliar with players and events.
Best advice is to pay particular attention to Euro mates in this forum. They have been betting golf much longer than us at stateside.I know personally I am indebted to several here who took the time to explain views and had patients to tutor me along the past 5 years. --bet within your parameters and have fun:)

outrights to place top 5 @ Skybet
Nick Price 16/1
Recent form not good but going back 5 years he has followed several 3 string of clinkers with top 5--and averaging a top 5 per every 3 events this year I will continue to takethese ods in hopes he fires. Here are some tough factors to substantiate.
2 years totals top 15 in over 1/2 events played (16/31
top 10's 13/31 top5's 7/31

also liking one of Stan's selections to place and that is Huston who, if firing ,can shoot low #'s with the best. Will go @ 12/1 to place @ skybet.

OUTRIGHT:

Nick Price(80/1) for 0.50* e.w. @ Bet365
Just the suggestion was enough for me to give the Hall of Famer his due and see what the moment has in store.

GL
---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

FWIW and for anyone that didn't see the article on the pgatour web site about this week's Hall of Fame induction, I thought I would post these excerpts of Nick's quotes (and the writer's observations):

"From the very first day I picked up a club while caddying for my brother, Tim, I have been in awe of this game. I am still spellbound by the way it continues to tease and to entice me back, again and again, trying to perfect the imperfectable."

"A new swing thought here. A change of grip there. A different ball position. A new putter to try. And if you love the game as much as I do, it's amazing how it finds a way to call you back the very next day."

The game called Price back when he was 11 years old and locked himself in the men's bathroom at his local country club because "I was too scared to go out and play with three boys I'd never met."

A two-time PGA TOUR Player of the Year, Price is as well-liked off the golf course as he is accomplished on it. He has been honored by his peers for upholding the traditions of the game and by the media for his accommodating nature.

Price, who was inducted by his long-time teacher, David Leadbetter, remains competitive at the age of 46. He's got two runner-up finishes on the PGA TOUR this year, ranks 17th on the money list and will return to his native Southern Africa next month to play in his fifth Presidents Cup.

Price singled out his mother, Wendy, for teaching him about sportsmanship and fair play, and spoke of the enduring support provided by his two brothers, his wife and three children. He talked about his long-time friendship -- both professional and personal -- with Leadbetter and his beloved caddy, Jeff "Squeeky" Medlin, who died of leukemia in 1997.

"Without his presence in my life, I doubt very much I would be standing here right now," Price said.

I like two matchups at Pinnacle so far:

Singh +180 Woods
Price +129 Goosen

Woods is simply not all that much better than Singh at this point in time, and certainly not enough to say he has a > 65% chance of beating Singh in a matchup. Add the fact that Singh has a better 5-year course history (relative to each player's normal performance level), and it looks like a great value.

Price might be hampered a bit by his recent inactivity, but remains a slightly better and steadier golfer than Goosen overall. This match looks to be a tossup, which favors the sizable dog.

72 holes
Choi -125 over Maru @ $plays
remaining all -110 (ties lose)
Furyk over Love @ SIA
Price over Baird @ B&W
Verplank over Goydos @ B&W

Hard not to take Choi who's worst placing in last 5 events is 7th vs man coming off win.
Furyk will ride this Mr Consistant vs Jeckle Hyde train till it stops.
I am think either Loves personal life or health may be a factor of late.
Price and Verplank odds I frankly can not understand.

Matchup plays (1 unit unless stated):

Kevin Sutherland to beat Tom Byrum -125 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Byrum has missed the last five cuts here and trails Sutherland 6-14-0 h2h over the past year. Fairly convincing.

Fred Couples to beat Bob Estes -110 @ Bet365 [2 units]
Did consider Couples for the outright market, but apart from his win in April he is a player who consistently makes cuts and finishes in the top-half of the leaderboard but without getting the top-5 finish. He is much more suited to matchups and is one of the best pro-am players in the game. Sharp contrast with Estes who has missed his last four cuts in this event and trails Couples 1-5-0 h2h over the past year.
(also available at Expekt and Ladbrokes)

Fred Couples to beat Jeff Sluman -110 @ SkyBet [2 units]
Sluman does have a better record in this event, but still no top-50 finish in the last two years. He also misses a lot more cuts than Couples and trails 2-7-0 h2h over the past year.

Fred Couples to beat Bob Tway -120 @ BestLine [2 units]
Tway's course record is even better, but does still match that of Couples over the longer run and in pro-ams in general. He did win the Canadian Open and finish 2nd in Texas Open in September, but the bubble seems to have burst. He finished 59th in the limited-field American Express Championship and missed the cut in Las Vegas. He also trails 2-7-0 h2h against Couples over the past year to highlight his more erratic play.
(also available at Olympic, Aces, Sirbet, Five Dimes and Pinnacle)

Jim Furyk to beat Davis Love -111 @ BetandWin, Paddy Power and SIA
Love's record in this event is very impressive, while Furyk's is decidedly average for a player who traditionally plays well in Florida. But Love had a big course advantage last week as he redesigned the course and missed the cut. He is simply not playing as well as he was a few months ago and that is why he has not finished ahead of Furyk in any event in the last three months. Can't see it happening here.
(available generally)

Jim Furyk to beat Phil Mickelson -180 @ WSEX
Big price, but I don't see Mickelson as being on the comeback trail. He secured only his 2nd top-10 finish since the Masters in Las Vegas two weeks ago and has very little course experience. He has played in this event only twice, finishing 46th in 1992 and missing the cut in 1998. I just think that Furyk has a greater than 64% chance of winning this match.

Tom Lehman to beat Lee Janzen -139 @ Ladbrokes
Easy player to oppose. Janzen has missed six of his last seven cuts and the only success was on the tough Oak Hill course at the PGA Championship. The courses he faces this week are very different and he must be odds-on to miss the cut for a second successive year.

Tom Lehman to beat Jesper Parnevik -125 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Successfully opposed Parnevik last week on the basis of the pressure of trying to retain his card and will do so again. Lehman is consistently and comfortably making cuts at the moment, while Parnevik is not. Too much pressure so even if he does well for the first couple of rounds, he will find the weekend very difficult.

Adding two more from Pinnacle:

Couples -126 Tway: In a battle of two very predictable players, going with the significantly better player. Only concern is the effect of Couples' three-week layoff.

Lonard +121 Maruyama: These odds seem to reflect only recent results. Although both players are streaky, Lonard is too good to pass up at +121.

Gamez @ 100-1 w/ Sportingbet

J.L.Lewis @ 125-1 w/ Bet365

L Donald @ 125-1 w/ Chandler

Huston @ 50-1 w/ Sportingbet (following Stans lead)

I tend to go for longer odds players with an outside chance on these types of matches - you win less frequently, but when you do the payoff is good - up 197 units since June 2002.

You guys have been the best education on the Net for learning about Golf & golf betting. Amazing knowledge and information to be found here. It is greatly appreciated.

1st rd results 0-0-1
Gamez -107 over Sabbatini push

2nd rd
Verplank -115 over Byrd @ 5 dimes
Goose -120 over Maru @ 365 (no ties lose)
Mediate -110 (- 1/2 stroke over Janzen) @ WSEX

Verplank the better player in my view gets amvs pm tees and someday they may catch some wind in pm.Huge before the cut adv 10th vs 130 th.

Mediate seems to be over injury as he fired on all clyinders yesterday and going back through his scores he has back one good rd with another on several ocassion. Janzen 4 straight cut with only 3 rd in last 13 in 60's.

Goose/Maru Got strong A vs Strong B and looking for bounce from Maru after last weeks win. Not sure his pairing with Tanaka is adv as both player lack lusterly yesterday.

---and speaking of pairings this in unusual event in that most top players get to chose playing partner. Not a bad idea to log some of pairings for future as this should tell who they like and think they play well with. If it looked like O meara was depressed yesterday it's because his tit Tiger dumped his previously preffered partner for college reunion of caddy and Begay:D
