Delivery company has had possession of goods for 3 weeks and unable to schedule a time to deliver due to lack of availability on their end, not mine. Final delivery was this morning between 8 and noon. Well of course they call after I already took the morning off and said it will be "sometime later on".

This is delivery for a store 20 minutes down the road. Do these guys get a tip when they deliver th shit finally? I never have stiffed even a waiter for bad service, but these guys have me at the end of my rope.

Coming from a waiter: You as a customer have not recieved service at par or better, so you should not feel bad if you do not tip. I understand that it is not the delivery guys fault for not having enough delivery employees, but the reprocussions should not fall on you but the owner.

I would call and cancel the order myself. If they have a scheduled time with you, then that is a verbal contract saying that they will be there. I would call and say if you do not get a discount, then the order will be terminated. If they give you a break on price, then you can use some of that to tip the delivery guys. Other than that, politely tell the delivery guys to talk their boss about losing them money.

The problem is I have tried that. The company Ikea, claims it gave the furniture to the company with a couple of days of my ordering it almost a month ago. For three weeks it sat on a truck somewhere with them not delivering it. This will be the 3rd or 4th time they have given me a time, the other times they have cancelled at the last minute, do to unforseen problems, or a "scheduling error" The pisser of it is except for a king sized mattress, I could have rented a pickup and done this myself.

While I feel bad stiffing the company, I am really pissed off right now. Each time they schedule me I have to take a half day off from work to stay home.

after they finally deliver it, send them a bill for your lost time/wages.

If u haven't done it already, call the boss and tell him U want to schedule THEM for a time convenient for U. How about 1900, when you're home from work??? That way u don't have to take off from work! Get more aggressive on the phone and see if that helps. GL!

i bet you already paid for the furniture too, huh?

not really a damn thing you can do. stiffing the delivery guys won't get you back the lost time. plus, i never heard of tipping the furniture delivery men. movers, yes, but store delivery men? nah....

i would try to cancel the order. go into the store and demand your money back immediately. i bet they deliver within hours of your appearance. you can play a little hardball when they tell you "don't cancel. we'll deliver right away". tell them you want 25% off for your inconvenience or FORGET IT!!

good luck!

ohhhhhhhh. it's like a sub-contractor for the furniture store? you already paid for the shit and delivery? you're at their mercy. i'd still go to the furniture store and try what i said in the above post, if they're local.

those delivery guys don't get a tip. i never heard of such.

i just had a 1000 pound pool table delivered (freight company the store used for shipping) and i didn't tip. was i supposed to??

maybe if he had taken, or even helped to take it into the house, but all he did was bring it to the back of the truck. AND, i had to 'talk' him into bringing it all the way down my 500' driveway. he wanted ME to accept delivery at the beginning of my drive because he was afraid of scratching his truck on the trees when he was backing in. BAG THAT!!

Yeah I have already forked over $1800 for the furniture and $80 for delivery charges that were paid directly to Ikea then they must pay the furniture company because I have no bill due to them. The delivery company has been jerking me around not Ikea. Although I would like to bitch someone out I am not even sure Ikea could do anything about it

It was still Ikea's responsibility to get it delivered to you. THEY work for Ikea. tell Ikea that you're sick of the whole mess and want your money back so you can go somewhere else.

if you were holding the money, even half, you'd have your stuff by now. guaranteed.

YOU are not a priority because they already have YOUR money. they're telling the delivery company to deliver to the people that haven't paid in full yet. THAT is THEIR priority.

just type out a letter detailing your complaint and wish to cancel. address it to the attorney general and cc it to the better business bureau, the delivery company and the furniture company. fax it to all parties and snail mail it to all parties. give them a date and time that you will accept delivery or you're finished with them. you will ONLY accept on that date and time or the contract in voided and you want your money back. PERIOD!!

you can have it all done in an hour or so and you WILL get results.

I've never heard of tipping delivery guys, unless they are bringing pizza. :) Hmmm. Never even occured to me to tip them. Though I have thrown movers a few extra bucks on occasion, esp. when moving into a 3-floor walkup apartment.

Just out of curiousity, how much would you tip these guys? A % of the price you paid, or a flat rate?

No clue really.

Maybe it is just the shitty tipping craze in this city, every freaking store/Starbucks/7-11 has a tip cup. My girlfriend and I are consolidating 2 apartments into 1 in two weeks. My house and her 7th floor apartment into a 6th floor place. I plan on giving the guys $40 each or so, I think that is about what I paid last time. More than worth it in the city to avoid doing it myself.

However youre right, these guys dont need shit for being a month late.

I usually give the guy a tip, but this time I didn't. I bought a sofa in March with a 30 day delivery promise. I didn't recieve the sofa until the end of June.

Well of course the shit didnt come and I had to get to work.

I called Ikea and demanded a refund at the very least for the shipping, which they provided after 10 more minutes on hold. Saved $100 there.

Called the shipping company. Their driver apparently showed up for no deliveries this morning. Told them too bad, Saturday afternoon is now their delivery window. After telling me they dont deliver on Saturday, they put me on hold and then agreed to do it.

I don't drink coffe, so I don't know what the fuss is about when it comes to Starbucks, but I do have a solution.

My girlfriend went out and spent almost $100 on a coffee maker for her house. After getting past the price, she explained the benefits and I bought into it. She places whole coffee beans in the machine the night before and sets the "alarm" clock. At a set time the machine grinds the fresh beans then perks her coffee out just in the nick of time for her to get up and start enjoying.

When I looked at this I couldn't believe how much she paid, but then looking at what people shell out for Starbucks or anything similar--I guess it is worth it.

Now she gets higher grade coffee in whatever style she likes and I am sure she has made her money back by going this route. I always tell her to leave a tip on the bar for me, but it hasn't happened yet.

Now that I think about it, unless these shippers are going up multiple flights of stairs, a tip should not be expected.

dawgball I am looking at buying a similar unit. Will be worth the price to me to get decent coffee in the morning and not have to shell out so much cash.

Dawgball, is it a Delonghi? if it is, they are great and worth the money!! Ace, $4.00 + for a frozen mochachino and now we have to tip? You're rght! their frozen ones are good, but not worth the money and the regular coffee is so strong it put MORE hair on my nuts!! Think i walked around the whole mall in under 40 seconds! :D
