there is a lot of chit i don't understand, but the gas prices are terrible. if i were a current politician - i would run for president on two things:

1. promise to lower gas
2. promise to bring home our troops

would stand a very good chance of getting elected. jmo

on a side note, if the leader of the free world cannot bargain for better prices for oil - i ask why?

we have no bargaining chips? is there no oil producer out there that does not need something we can provide? the gov has no incentive to lower prices and they do not give a chit. how many elected officials pay for their own fuel consumption? f' the whole group. i am over it. politics in general are crap anyway. if anyone truly believes an elected official on capital hill gives a flying f'k about them or their wallet i question their intelligence. i voted for bush 1 and bush 2. the later is far worse than the former. i really voted to keep the liberal out and i am questioning my decision. i will forever be a conservative, but the current admin is an embarassment. we are in a war that we cannot win and we will not win - if we continue employing our current methods. my take: bring the boys home. realize i have strayed from the gas topic, but we have connected the war and ga$ in here somewhere.

Dawg I understand your principle. But dam my station had gas arrive Wednesday. And as the truck was leaving they went up 5 cents. Thursday 3 cents and today 6 cents. Same gas in the ground. And the strange thing is when it comes down it does at a lower pace and never 3 times in a week. And your right gas has not gone down for some time now. I believe back just before the election was last time. I wonder why?

You stupid Liberal lunatics. You never ever research anything that you haphazardly touch your keyboard.

so what the mental failure who calls him self elvis says is this:

I would promise lower oil prices!! :mj07:

Hey elvis. What is OPEC? do you even know?

Are you aware of why our prices are so high is due to demand?? How bout the booming economy in China. Did you know of the impact that China's gasoline consumption is growing like the amazing cloud of ignorace in here? I LOVE IT! how much are they paying for gas in Britain? But i suppose thats Tony Blair's fault. huh?
just out of morbid curiousity,

how many troops would you "send home"and from what parts of the Earth and why?

what if they are making a difference? what would you do with your time?

How would you lower you gas prices?
Who would you send to OPEC to increase production?
What would you say to President Hu Jintao regarding their increasing dependence on Oil?

and lastly. Do you own a gas powered vehicle?

Hey Spible your boy Bush promised lower energy prices. He said his relationship with the Saudis he felt he could get them to turn the spigots. Maybe you should research something before you blindly follow your leaders. And that's not liberal whining that is a fact. Maybe the crying that goes on in here everytime someone questions Bush is a clue as to who the uninformed crybabies are.

Paid $2.759 / gal today for the premium stuff here in FL. Saw it also at $2.849 at 2 other stations.

On the other hand, earlier this week I was overseas and paid the equivalent of $1.28 for a whole full tank in a Toyota Corolla. Go figure.

i appreciate your input. hehe but i was asking elvis to clarify his comments. I do follow current events so I will educate you
about the spigot-turning-on that you have the authority over.
we have a complicated relationship with the saudis as you may
or may not be aware of. There oil "spigots' have been under
threat from the very terrorists we are going after in Iraq. (allah willing lol) Do you think he is going to simply saunter into one of the hundreds of saudi palaces and tell them to fix their plumbing.
cmon stevie. think critically

spittle, i am a mental failure because i make a campaign promise i can't keep?

never promised to lower the price of oil, but i did offer to help with the cost of gas. i am not a liberal by any means, and it fool hardy to jump to that conclusion because i am pissed at the price of gas. i would bring home the troops in iraq. i wish those ungrateful ba$tards would kill each other. i have freinds, luckily no family over there and would like to see them come home to their kids. sorry.

i have heard of opec, but am not as versed on current events as you are. however, there is a rumor going around about oil being in alaska...bu ti am sure it is cheaper to import it from our enemies

do i drive a gas powered vehicle? yes, unless i am a passenger....

lastly, did you ever attempt to understand my thinking , or did you just lable me a liberal, lunatic adn insult me?

i have several posts on this forum, and i am by far not a liberal. however, i do question and disagree with the current admin on a few issues.

i am currently grumpy over AMT, and i do not care who is responsible for it - i want it to go away.

Spibble, so you are saying that Bush was lying when he said he could get them to turn on the spigot?

The truth maybe Saudi has it as open as it goes and are trying not to let anyone know. But of course they sell it to high bidders. And do not worry much about us. We get more from Kuwait then Saudi.

It happened last week in California as it has happened throughout the United States for years. A federal judge has denied the government's request for 36 off shore drilling sites until they can figure out how it will affect the environment. That will take another 3 or 4 years. We have tried to drill in various locations but the environmental crowd and their friends in the judiciary have blocked it at every chance. Even though this oil is little more than a proverbial drop in the bucket, it would make us that much less dependent on foreign oil. We also import a great deal of oil from Canada and Mexico, maybe they could help. Or is this just a ploy from the Bush administration to make even more money for the Haliburton crowd? That one I doubt.

Ferd when you think about it oil and gas are old technology. Just seems the new energy bill would have tons of money in it to get to the new technology. Instead of helping folks just keep drilling. Why are we stuck with same old shit. Is it because oil industry is not involved with future tech. Government and oil industry new this was coming 20 years ago and nothing has happen.

The oil industry reminds me a little of the tobacco industry. There is really no point in allowing sales of tobacco (pardon me cig smokers, snuffers, etc). But we not only allow it we subsidize it. Oil is certainly a necessary commodity, but like tobacco, it is possible that the big corps and money guys make sure that the product doesn't get replaced. Could certainly be wrong about that.

djv--we can not simply get rid of gas and oil because all of our cars depend on it. If we haven't noticed, almost every auto manufacturer is introducing hybrids and even all electric cars. This is A step in the right direction.

The next step is for Americans to decide that they are not going to buy another all-gasoline car. Unless we support the change, then the change will never happen. I believe there are also some minor tax breaks for owners of electric vehicles.

ferdville--I agree about the similarities of gas to tobacco

Gas now up over 28 cents in a less then a month.
Dawg I know it just cant happen over night. We new since 1973 & 1981 chit could hit the fan at any time. We sure have did little to prevent it. This is same country that went to the moon in less then 10 years.

I am in total agreement with you. I, personally, have not purchased a hevicle since the hybrids have been on mass-market, and I can not defiinitely say that I would have bought one. But I do feel that I have a personal responsibility to help push the initiatives to try and help improve the current situation if possible.

Good though, djv.

Holy Cafe! Administration to announce new gas mileage requirements for SUV's. A small step but the right one. If true it almost shocks me.

They will say that they have to be in place in 5 years and then the auto makers will say that they can't do it in 5 years, so the government will give them another 5 years, and on and on
