Reno is great if you have low standards! I have been about 20 times over the past 14 years. It almost feels like downtown Vegas, but less people, and less glitzy.

There are only 5-6 legit casinos on the main drag (and a couple other decent properties within 10 minute drive).
If you are a baseball I suggest checking out a Reno Aces game (DBacks AAA affiliate), as the stadium is a block off the main drag. The Truckee river runs right adjacent to the main casino area and is a nice place to take a walk and get some nature in a semi-urban atmosphere. Obviously, other fantastic outdoor activities are a short drive away.

I've always preferred the Silver Legacy at it is the 'newest' property and the most centrally located. The El Dorado is about the same.
I'd probably avoid staying at the Circus Circus as it is a step down and one of the towers is a bit of a trek to get too (plus there are kids running all over the place).

There are also a couple fun gay bars nearby that I would be happy to point you in the direction of, should you be interested. :142smilie

HUH? You are young. You have the whole world in front of you and many years left to do everything you want and more. Get those depressing thoughts right out of your head. Seriously. :)

This.
I don't care how old you are, just go do it.
My 80 year old mother is going to Abu Dhabi and India in December.
If she ain't too old for that kind of trip you ain't too old to do whatever the hell it is you want to.

Thankfully the bowling tourney doesn't return to Reno for three years.
We just missed the beginning of baseball season this year as the aces opened on the road.
Caught a 51s game in Vegas later in the week-- that's a decent park but not as nice as Reno's as its not as new.
Their stadium is very nice and it's right behind the bowling stadium downtown.

This trip we discovered a few new restaurants-- a new brewpub with some excellent micros brewed onsite was a cool discovery-- and bars down along the Truckee River on the opposite side of downtown.
A slight beginning to a new scene in downtown Reno which we all know needs a serious overhaul.
I'll raise a taste to the Cal Neva in your honor later today....:toast:

Please do. Have a "dog and a draft" up at the sportsbook for 14cents or whatever they charge.

As for Aces stadium, it's nice! I've probably told this story 3 times here and 30 times elsewhere, but:
The one and only game I went there couple years back Mike Trout led off the game with a homerun and he had an entire section behind the dugout of fangirls cheering for him. Didn't know who he was at the time, but a few months later everyone in baseball did.

The beer scene in Reno has apparently really blossomed the past few years from what I've read online, though I've only personally checked out the one inside the casino complex, which has been around forever.
