I think I want to keep his scorecard and he keeps mine ?

is that the usual way ?

how do you trust he wont cheat ?

If I were him though, I would be more worried about me with that pencil in my hand and the scorecard with my name on it.

Another question I have thought of

Should I slow the game down and make him wait for me aot ?

Or would it be better to hit and go with no bullchit
just as fast as possible ?

You each keep score for yourselves and report that score at the end of the hole. If there are any questions, you iron it out before playing the next hole. It's a game of honor. You should not have to worry about a scratch player cheating.

Don't worry about his game. Play at a pace that is good for you and keeps you in a good rhythm. Your shitty game will slow him down whether you try to or not.

Scratch and bogey golfers
A golfer whose handicap is zero is called a "scratch golfer." A golfer whose handicap is 18 is called a "bogey golfer." It is possible to have a handicap below 0; these are referred to as 'plus' handicaps, and at the end of the round, a 'plus' handicap golfer must add his handicap to his score. A professional golfer effectively plays off scratch, but has no actual handicap.
............................................................

So if this guy is a scratch golfer and the course we are playing is 72

will normally shoot right at 72 or will he shoot 68 ?

I have a feeling you both will write checks after the wager.

Great cause Scott.

Gary speaks of risk and reward and he is correct. Take a 360 yard par 4. Knowing my swing and playing bogey, if I leave the driver in the bag and hit my 8 iron in the fairway off the tee, I'm sitting out 200 yards.

My second shot, another solid shot towards the green, and I'm 40 yards in the fairway from the green.

Punch shot with another 8 iron, and I'm on the green putting for par.

Drivers can wreck your day.

As Tiger would say, "I'll call you once the wife leaves the house." No wait, wrong reference, he'd say "Stay patient."

Another key, is humility. This guy is going to be waiting on your ALL day. Don't get flustered or worry about that.

Play bogey/double bogey golf, and you're a winner.

here is a problem around water hazards

When I am confronted with the water and I am
prone to only be 50-100 ft away . So I say to myself hit it over the lake now.

I should try to get closer to the lake and not chance a over the water hit ?

HELL
Get out of this bet and now, I guess my remedial math skills aren't working right, and nor did I read the whole thing, but what stuck out to me is that you think the BEST you can do is 120, that means for a scratch golfer he must shoot under 80 to win which if he is that good and doubt you will be playing a very very difficult course or from the blue or back tees, he will shoot that easily.
