Have a little cowpath course up the road that you can occasionally get a stupid golfnow.com deal for around 12 bucks for 18 w/ cart on a late Sunday, get thru 15 holes in less thank2 hours....and then last 3 holes take 2 hours:facepalm::facepalm:

I live in the south suburbs of Chicago. There is absolutely no shortage of golf courses around here. They only problem is you can't get before 2:00 for less than $60.00 riding. It has turned out to resorting to golfnow, or some groupon deals. The only problem with those is they increase the amount of t-times after a certain time and you are lucky to get a five hour round in. I really think these course should drop their rates $10-20 a round and I think they would see a large increase in turnout. It is very frustrating when I play a lot of different courses around the U.S., and they are a lot nicer and tougher for less cash than the run down over played courses around here.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks for posting that article. Interesting read.

When I lived in the Detroit area, I remember thinking the game was too expensive.....then I moved to Columbus, OH. This area is loaded with nice courses that are almost priced too low. This is a great place to live if you like inexpensive golf.

Here's the club I have been a member of for 3 years. Longest course in Ohio.

Every time I take guests here, they are amazed at the guest fee. $37 (includes cart). For that price you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer, tougher track.

Here in Grant County, Indiana one of 6 courses just sold expected to close in a yr. Shame it used to be a good course pretty ran down now. The Marion Elks Country Club where I am a member for the past 15 yrs just dropped their membership from $850 to $550 for a single. (Elks dues included).

Sounds like a place for an outing:toast:

Lots of great courses down here too for less than $40. Golfnow has done a great job of filling up courses and think their model of marketing is great. No play = no $$$
