Was waiting on two clients to bring their dogs to me for their training sessions when what looked like an Akita and a Newfoundland mix came tearing ass through the park without collars or leashes on. Both went straight for my Pit mix and my Siberian Catahoula mix. I immediately let go of both leashes and the Siberian ran, she is young, while my Pit stayed to defend me. I threw water on them immediately and dove on top of the Akita and the Newf got me in the arm while the Akita got my hand. The Siberian, Wrigley, came running back in onto the Newf as Payton, my pit mix, wheeled around and went straight at that Newfoundland. The owner comes around the corner as the Newfoundland finally lets go of my arm and tears ass. As quickly as I could I grabbed Payton and put her on her side and covered her with my body. The Akita popped up and turns to me as if considering his options, when the apparent owner came running in with two tiny little retractable leashes. The Akita turned and ran. Left me with a small gash on my hand and a long jagged cut on my left arm. Payton has a deep cut on her nose, her right front dew claw is cracked and broken, which is very uncomfortable I am sure. She also has a small cut on her ear. All because of an irresponsible owner. The owner didn't even try to help nor apologize. The fat bitch has the nerve to yell at me?!?! Then walks away calling her dogs as if they were going to suddenly come running to her as if nothing just happened. What the fuck is wrong with people.

Well, my clients arrive within a few minutes and since I am bleeding they were curious as to what happened. Well another woman and her partner come walking up to ask if I am okay. I say yes and we begin to talk and they actually stick around to watch me work with the dogs. About thirty minutes later, the law pulls up, with the fat lady in tow and her two dogs in the back of some shitty old AMC wagon. She proceeds to point at me and say "that's him officer".
"He let his dogs go to attack my dogs". I am really floored when she produces two large choker training collars and two large leashes and tell the cops she was peacefully walking her dogs on them when I let me dogs go to attack her. Luckily, the couple was there and literally started laughing at this pig. Ultimately, the officers figured out what happened and asked if I wanted to press charges, which I did not. They issued the incredible expanding woman a citation and leave.

What stands out though is how quickly and fiercely both dogs of mine defended me against dogs much larger than them. Greatest dogs ever.

Anyway, train your pets and keep them on a leash when in public. Run them or exercise them thoroughly prior to bringing them to the dog park or any public park. Any dog that is in an excited state or that is too wound up does not need to be around other dogs until exercised.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Above the Clouds....
Glad you're Ok. Could have been a lot worse. I probably would have pressed charges at least something to make the owner take responsibility.

I thought hard about it but ultimately I decided against it since the dogs would have paid the price more so than the owner.

I asked the woman at some point if the dogs had their shots and she assured me that they did. I think the dogs were more surprised and over stimulated more so than trying to hurt me. Rabid dogs are very easy to spot and have some outwardly evident signs. They don't just froth at the mouth and snarl like everyone thinks. Also, there are very few cases of rabies in dogs anymore. There is a higher occurrence in cats actually.

Besides, I have received pre-exposure vaccinations for it for years. I am not concerned about it to be honest with you.

No, I can see it now how you will blame that 4 iron that you hit 2 fairways over to the right on either 1) all that fucking metal in your arm, or 2) on these most recent dog bites.

But I did get good distance.

Now with these injuries, I will probably lose my distance. Now I will only hit it one fairway over.

I have been playing more lately. Got a new driver. He seems nice.

That sucks, I live in the country and spend much of the summer at a campground. Tons of people with unleashed/untrained dogs. Scares the shit out of me cause if I were in your situation me and the dog are screwed.

Glad you got out of their with minimal damage. Some people
